Yes, as a woman of 50 now and divorced but from an abusive marriage, I can safely say this track hits hard in every way. We are no longer in the 50s where submissive wives were kept in their place by the bread winning husbands and even as a Christian woman I say if that is happening to you you don’t need to take that crap in this era! Take your power back - I think that’s what the gun represents. Take back your power and kick him where it hurts in the only language he understands. You’re as equal to any man today and that’s that. He doesn’t get to kick you in the back of the knee or anywhere. Phew! She put that bastard in his place and all her girlfriends cheered her on holding her earrings for her 😂

I was 6 months pregnant and my COP husband threw me down the stairs after beating me for an hour. I began hemorrhaging 24 hours later. I had my daughter at 6months and a week pregnant. She and I were not suppose to live but we did. We had to go into a safe house while putting my cop husband on trail. He tried for years to hurt me even after restraining orders and him getting fired... I joined my families new MMA school after repairing our relationship due to him. Became a black belt and went on to train other women like me. I relate to this BIG TIME!!

Jen, i like you, was in a very seriously abusive marriage and I'm lucky to have escaped with my life. He had taken everything from me, exiled me from all my family and friends, broken bones, black eyes, held captive and beaten bloody, but worst of all he took my pride. I was an empty shell of a woman who thought my only escape was to end my l!fe. He had gotten arrested for the millionth time and i used it to get the fk away and save mine and my kids lives and never looked back. I was broken and never thought I'd be where i am today. I no longer cower to a shadow or fear for my life. He passed away 3 years ago from an overdose. I am almost 11 years clean(ultimatly i am the one who said yes and did it but he begged me for 2 years to do it and after being beaten for so long , i wanted to numb myself)and i know MY worth and will NEVER let another man put his hands on me or make me feel less than nothing. The scars i have will last a lifetime , but i wear them as my " badge of honor" Thank you for covering this! An anthem to us who have been through hell but are still standing here today! This gives me chills and i can't get enough! Edit! She is almost to 80K now! She deserves many, many more! The talent is out of this world!

Amazing song

The thing is it’s upsetting that so many women artists have written songs about abusive men. This being one of the more extreme ones but I 100% relate with. But regardless how many men do you see putting out these songs about abuse? I am by no means saying men aren’t abused and I do consider the whole toxic masculinity thing where it isn’t socially acceptable. Idk I just feel like it’s unsettling how many women have to behave this way, borderline psychotic to take their lives back but it’s the truth. And it’s even more unsettling that I relate to the need to having this mentality to deal with my own abuse. Something’s wrongggg with the way people treat each other that’s all I’m saying 🤷🏻‍♀️
