In this video I go through some chinchilla treats that are delicous and nutritious. Some of these treats may even grow in your own garden.
These chinchilla treats are a great alternative to fruit, nuts and seeds that your chinchilla will love.

Thank you Ally for another informative video. I agree that we should stay away from fruits. I have a rose garden and I didn’t know the rose hips are from dying roses. I always cut them. I do dehydrate the roses and leaves. I recall that you had a video about the treats in the past but this one is even better - plant them in you own garden. I am in California and we are in the fall now, maybe next spring, I will try to plant more in my garden.

I definitely need to invest in a dehydrator. I currently dry my chinchilla treats in an oven . It's okay when I have a big batch to do but a dehydrator would be easier.

apple sticks and hay cobs I give daily, just one od each . Other treats every other day. Bee pollen not very often twice a month maybe. 🙂

Thank you for the video! Do you know approximatly for how long and on what temperature you bake the apple sticks? It probably depends on the thickness but are we talking about 45 Minutes or more like 3 hours? :)

It does depend on the size of the wood and whether it is from new growth or the wood is from older branches. For small sticks though I normal bake on a low setting of around 120 Celsius (250 fahrenheit) for about an hour to an hour and a half. I turn them every half hour so they bake evenly, also to check they are not burning ,if the sticks start burning I just turn the temp down on the oven. Some people like to boil their apple sticks before drying them in the oven to sanitise them but I skip this step as the oven will kill any microorganism anyway. Obviously for larger thicker sticks you just bake for longer . I always try and bake sticks that are a similar size together.

What if you've watered your flowers with fertilizer that's a no no right

Also with oats can u give them more than one or two I seen u have a pinch there. Is that ok?

it depends if the fertalizer contains pesticides and fungicides then you definitely shouldn't use the flowers . If it's just fertaliser you should be okay.
