You are absolutely right. She is not arrogant, which must be a wrong modifier for such tender lady. But she is "intense, heavy, noble and yet also tenderly artisitic". I like her to the extend of not sleeping well. Haha!

I feel sad inside when I hear the Erhu, it likes the hard life in front of me and there is no choose only face it with inner smile. Ancient Chinese people endure too much pain, war/hungry/bad government/bully by strong family...

They are both great er-hu players; Yu hungmei is more intense and she does not really smile but smiles enough to say: "You like me and the music, right?"

In the old days it was not good form for a woman to show her teeth when smiling. That is why they hid their laugh behind their hands. On top of that it was not good form for a woman to laugh out loud in an un-lady like fashion. ....but that was in the very old days. Maybe when it comes to performing in situations like this they have to honor the more traditional aspects of performing etc etc etc.
