We want to highlight local businesses in Hawaii and show you how they are operating during this pandemic.

YAY Yvonne! Y'all had me with that roasted duck and char shui fried rice. That's all I needed. Beef, pork, chicken, lamb, doesn't matter. Duck is the king of all meats and nothing even comes close. Yesss Roast Duck Kitchen in Aiea is bomb. Aside from their roast duck, I like getting their garlic chicken with their fried rice. And yeah, they normally leave one or two gaugee in the plates you order.

I love Chinese food, besides going to restaurants, I worked for Ah Fooks Supermarket a Chinese/ Asian market on Maui for many years. Every Friday we would have a guy on Oahu go to the Chinatown places and send tasty items by plane to us. My choices were Roast Pork and Charsui Pork. My brother was a Roast Duck guy. Can't go wrong with Roast Pork and Fried Rice. Mahalo and Aloha.

I can relate with Amanda. IDK if I'm 5th gen. Japanese, but I too have a hard time using chopsticks. When I do use it, my finger gets sore. When I was younger, I used to cross it (if you know what I mean) if you do; good. If not, forget about it.

YUM! YUM! YUM! Chinese Roast Duck is my fave. I don’t know how good the Duck taste, but the way you filmed made them look soooooooo..........delicious. I kind of want to go and get some right now. The Jian Bing look amazingly good, will definitely find the Bing Bros the next time I’m there. Thanks Amanda&Felix for another great finds.😘😘

Yes!! that place has the BEST ROAST DUCK, ROAST PORK, and CHAR SUI. The Roast duck is very meaty, juicy and just the right balance of seasoning. The Roast pork is very flavorful and moist. The skin has a perfect crunch, Not break the teeth hard like most Chinese restaurants. The char Sui is super moist, and flavorful. Most Chinese restaurants are either too salty and/ or dry. On thenother hand, Not gonna lie....their gau gee isn't the best. Kinda salty and over cooked most of the time. But definitely not the worst. I've been lucky to always get char Sui, but I normally go before 10am.

Totally agree that their roast duck and roast pork are excellent, but their ginger chicken is just ok and the ginger chicken sauce is ridiculously expensive for such a small and tiny container.

Ooooh a good roast duck is magical! Great with rice, noodles, soup, as is!!! I gotta check that place out for sure!!! The crepes look interesting! I hope they find a solid home where I can visit when I visit there next. Never had one of them and it sounds ono! Can you guys also do some healthy, clean and ono eats? I know it’s a tall ask, but I know you guys can handle!!!👍🏿😉 Great job and stay safe!

I love Roast Duck Kitchen. I first heard about it from Authentically Charles. My son makes me drive out there at least once a week haha I always order a little extra to put in ramen the next day. Definitely need to get there by 11 or the duck sells out but if you are running late you can call them and place your order before you leave

I like Roast Duck Kitchen,...I got crispy gau gee in my plate too when I ordered a few years back....plenty of food. I dont eat plate luches anymore due to my health...Health Tip!!!

Roast duck kitchen is da bomb! The duck is very similar to the old Patti’s Kitchen in Ala Moana. That gravy for the duck is nutz on rice.

Cold ginger chicken is similar in flavor to Hainanese chicken, which has become popular thru social media, but we in Hawaii have enjoyed it for years!

Roast Duck Kitchen makes the best Char Siu & Roast Pork. I place my Christmas Day & New Year's Day order of 2lbs each item at the end of November otherwise, I'll be shut out. During peak events they only have take-out orders with no walk in available. These are my typical contributions for our pot luck lunch on Christmas and New Year's Day - I cannot join the luncheon without them 😬

I've never visited Roast Duck Kitchen, however, the best duck I've had definitely was on Oahu. Roast Duck at Morimoto Asia @ Waikiki was outstanding. Just a bit more pricey, but it'll make you tap out.

We were looking for this place, now we know where it is.. thank you! Going to try for sure! Crispy pork looks good. Have you tried Nam Fong in Chinatown. Their roast crispy pork and the their char siu is the best! They run out early too! Better than some places in SF!

A really good ginger chicken /roast duck or char siu plate was at Pearl Highlands food court at the chinese takeout there. I forgot the name...Came with Choy Sum and a really tasty sauce on the rice either it was aged shoyu or something else. It wasnt any fat drippings though, so that's good...

Aloha! Have tried BiBimBap House in Waipahu and their food was the best Korean food I have tried. Service was delightful and professional. We had bibimbap, bibimbap with lobster and haemul pajeon (seafood pancake). Fresh, delicious and clean! Just want you both to give it a try. P.s. the duck place is okay. Little oily for my taste.

I'm not really a duck lover, but they converted me 🤙 I've enjoyed the fried rice, roast pork, roast chicken, char siu and ginger chicken. Gau gee is different. 🤔London's Portobello Market features savory crepes. Gotta check it out 👀

I just ate Pho and shaved ice in Alabama.You can use the ginger chicken in salads etc..Ginger sauce can goin anything.👍😁

Oh man, I’ve been meaning to try Roast Duck Kitchen, but it usually comes to mind too late in the day. Y’all definitely encouraging me to go! Also, I’m a semi-new fan but, if y’all haven’t done like, a hot wing tour, I’d love to know/see your opinions on best hot/Buffalo wings, cuz y’all by my favorite spot, Dirty Lickin’s upstairs! 😁

Roast Duck Kitchen is my go go roast duck and char sit. I wouldn’t go there for the cake noodle. They make it well in advance, so the outside is hard and the inside is dry. You’ve got to go there again and hopefully try their char siu.

Go back for the ono Char siu! Its so moist and not too sweet or hard & dry! Call the day before order by the pound what you want skin the long wait and garanz get da char siu.🤙🏽

Oh snap! Jian Bing! I used to eat that for breakfast like 5 days a week in China. Before there used to be a place in Ohana Hale that served it, but they closed during the pandemic and I've been wondering where I could get it. So, thanks for sharing! I'm definitely heading there this Saturday. :-) I kinda prefer Beijing style roast duck to gthe Cantonese style, but I'm all about the Char Siu, so I'll have to try for that at some point. Question for the next AME session for Amanda: If your parents don't speak any Asian languages, what got you interested in wanting to speak Japanese? And, what do you contribute the most to helping your Japanese to level up? (I'm assuming your work at the hotel, but maybe there was something else that helped bump it up.) P.S. More outtakes! :-)

Jian bing is a common breakfast street food or snack in Beijing, Tianjin and other Northern Chinese cities. It costs less than a dollar.
