I've been to Hong Kong last summer for three days. I swear some people there are the most rudest and meanest people I have encountered in my entire life.

As a Chinese I do not like Hong Kong for the same reasons you stated. As a matter of fact when I tried to speak Mandarin in HK back in the 90's I would get looked down upon and be spoken to very rudely. When I switch to English all these idiots all of a sudden seem to have a light bulb click on and try to communicate in what limited English they master. All in all HK people are a totally another breed. No other place like this on earth......THANK GOD!!!!!

Mainland Chinese are fairly nice everywhere, especially towards foreigners (Caucasians). However, in terms of public courtesy you'll find that the culture is quite inconsiderate. Since it's not a personal thing you should not take it personally. Took me a while to get used to that.

Malaysian here too I saw Dan Lok's video n found quite a useful info but at the same time I think about this video m.kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rtKdadhkuLSof40.html Some comments for HK people and Dan Lok Stop bull shit to the youngster .. no doubt u have a brilliant mind but animal heart so u can push to human limit with animal desire with the gift of human wisdom for money.. what would an animal does to get something ? U r definitely a free thinker.. high intellegence animal.. Look at Steve Jobs , wtf he can do with his billions of dollars? He was diagnosed with cancer and recovered then diagnosed with cancer again after pushing his limit using same thought as this fatty pig face mindset .. Nobody gonna recognise wtf is iPhone in next 5 years especially the young kid .. perhaps buried in Google or may be difficult to find those info too on Google This fatty pig from HK . Those HK Chinese is so poor that spend their entire life, energy and money for the expensive rented house small like a coffin, restaurant seat packed like a coffin, and work inside a coffin .. how many people really get rich in the world ? Face the fact and reality.. money is important but craze for it like this mad dog.. Wtf.. for HK people.. please polish your skill and English level and get the fuck out of HK with your family..don't stay in this hell while u can. Get a life and stop making this stupid video.. Some special note to Dan Lok, can u do plastic surgery of your face cause u look like north Korea president n wanna slap your face .. alright I shall stop wasting time complaining about this animal n spend my time wisely and more carefully to earn money

Coming from my mother who used to live in hk, cars will not wait for pedestrians, its been like that for A LONG TIME. They will not care if you midway crossing a street. I guess its because of the busy lifestyle that they have. So most hk pedestrians tend to walk fast for 2 reasons, they are hurrying somewhere or they are not risking their lives. Also on the 20 yr old girls who still chase Hello Kitty, I, personally think that is perfectly fine. The behaviour of some teenagers in Australia could be worse. Stopping in the middle of the shopping centre to take a selfie or groupie. Usually a table in the food court, for far too long too talk and use social media. Ordering food with no please or thank yous. Loudly talking in cinemas or public places. On the bus I catch, several drivers have already had to shout at them to quiet down. Bumping into people and not saying sorry. Being unawareof their surroundings, like running across the street with a red light, having to have their friends pull them back. Basically acting as if they own the place. This behaviour is caused by them thinking that they look cool on social medias or in public. Ive seen several people look towards these teens in disgust. Its not just Hong Kong 😰😁

Hi, im filipino... me and my family went to hk when i was 8, 7 years ago, as tourists, i was most excited about disneyland at that time... but i will share my experience At the airport, there is a part where you show your passports and stuff, one employee threw our passports away and shouted, she was asking for a form that we didnt know, so we finally filled up that form and went to a diff person, he didnt take the form and let us in 😡 at the end we just threw our forms away... At the hotel, the woman working there was so loud! Even at night! She is screaming at the phone etc. ... At the restaurant there was an old woman who saw us taking pictures and started screaming at us and making middle finger! And she didnt get kicked out! We have to move instead! At the market, there are people selling shirts and raising the price on us, we asked why it was expensive, and she got mad cuz we were complaining and her employees asked us to leave... The only person i found nice at hk was a stranger, old man who was in line for the disneyland entrance and he was in front of me, he gave me disney stickers. Thats all

In HK, you will be taken advantage of or being labelled as unsophisticated if you tried to be unconditionally nice to strangers. You get bullied by being simply nice to someone. This is the reason why they wouldn't turn kind or say nicer when they get to know each of them better and ascertain people's characteristics. They feel that they might be possibility of being exploited by straight away accepting people they didn't know well. They observed with preventive clause by any means. I have been here for most of my life so I understand them well enough to say. Typical Mainland Chinese think that way when most of these population are still of a proletariat mentality level.

I have traveled by Kathy Pacific to London via HK. It was terrible the way the HK Airport staff treated me. When I was going I was asked in the gate of aircraft by someone, who have asked me "why do I go to the UK, where am I going and where that place is located in the UK" etc. On my way back the airport staff was shouting at me to ask how could I get permanent residence in Japan. When I was going to the gate for boarding another staff had asked me to show my passport and told me that it is a fake passport. I have challenged him, he called someone else, two or three people came and have inspected my passport but could not find anything wrong.

i was in hk last year and being a tourist, i read about the norms and the culture, etc first. so when i rode the mtr and there was this old lady standing i did not offer my seat because based on what i read, chinese will take offense if you offer them a seat, it is as if you are pointing out their frailty, weakness and age. i thought this was true because when my friend went to china, there was this old lady who was pushing a cart full of loads at an escalator. the old lady got off balanced and she almost fell down had not my friend helped her. then when they were off the escalator safe, the old lady shouted at my friend and hit her several times with an umbrella... now i see that it is different in hk and i feel bad i did not offer my seat, btw, i am a filipino

As Indonesian i really don’t like saying these things because i have chinese friends that are nice to me here in Germany during my college year but i have to tell you one time me and family went to Hong Kong for a holiday and things like people said about chinese spitting, cutting line, rude language, etc happened to me and my family just as soon as my family landed in Hong Kong. It happened sooner actually would you believe it. A chinese guy forced me to switch seats while pulling my hand in an airplane witnessed by many people and his fellow chinese yelled at me asking me to move. They were very loud and rude. I honestly don’t know what seems to be the problem that causing them to behave this way. Many people have problem with mainland chinese but after went to Hong Kong i was surprised. Didn’t really think people there could be that rude and uncivilized like that. To be fair there are nice people too there. I just hope for a better and civilized chinese one day. Love from Indonesia 🇮🇩

You cannot judge a country/something just by one video and specially a negative one or one sided video, Try searching on YT about Pros and Cons, Tips to travel, etc about a country you'll visit so you can have a neutral point of view like this one kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p7xdlrmZsqevZJc.html And you could check a youtuber that I follow called Taylor R, she went to HK for a few years to work as model then went to japan for a few years too and went back to HK, she even have a HKer boyfriend, she do vlogs and now she's doing food vlogs I hope this helps

Hong Kong is just entirely "too crowded & expensive." It's "unnatural" for people to live in such a densely packed area. Some people, like this particular man are extremely 'ill-suited' for crowded city life.

I worked in a family of five, i clean 2 house which is in the contract i should take care one only. I was naive and stupid that time it was my first time abroad i let the grandma humiliate me in public. She’s in her wheel chair and my employer asked me if i could sleep in her house to accompany her of course i said Yes, do i have a choice, i was stupid. She woke up every after 30 minutes to smoke in the bathroom and if i’m sleeping the time she would kick my head to wake me up to stand in the toilet door to watch her in the toilet smoking. In the morning i feel like i want to collapse due to lack of sleep by that time i was working 5 months in their home.Everytime my employers go out it’s a nightmare to me bacause only me and the grandma left in the house. I couldn’t rest my mind bacause i always hear her voice inside my head though she’s not calling me. She would throw things infront of me especially food if she didn’t like it. I lost a lot of weight that my mother cried and always urged me to just go back home when we are talking via phone video call. I burn my hands in using muriatic acid in cleaning the toilet bacause she forbid me to use gloves. There was a time that she hold my head and wanted to bump it in the faucet sink but i told her i would run to police and she calm down. We don’t eat lunch most of the time she eat biscuits and smoke. I tried to cook more rice at night but she caught me so i didn’t tried it again. She is weak in appearance and using a cane but strong physically. She sometimes buy me food and i cried while eating at the kitchen i don’t know why. I managed to worked and waited for the arrival of their new Helper. I prayed in tears every night and now my prayer answered.

I m a Chinese too and just back from this place. I m not chinese educated but i used to learn a lot of Chinese culture from wiki, KZfaq, documentary, blogs When I was there I felt very strong negative around me and feel pressure. It's expensive too for accommodation and food. It's even worse compare last 10 years when I was there Now when I am back and would not visit them again except 5 stars hotel or above place or like casino in Macau. Not feeling like watching their program or HK movie even for free.

Don't ever think mainland China like HK, it's totally different. I am a mainland Chinese and I've been HK 1 years ago for trip. It was that time I know that HongKong Chinese will discriminate against mainland Chinese or even feel shame about China. I just don't understand why ever time mainland Chinese trying to ask them for help or something, they just make a sour face on us.Mainland Chinese seldom do that kind of thing...so don't think that all Chinese are like that

My former boss in Malaysia is a chinese- vietnam. She pays her chinese employee who is a part timer and only comes to office 3 times a month unlike me full-time, 6 days a week, pay part timer for RM 1700 per month, and I earned RM 1400. Its upsetting. She will said good work, if only I execute task well. But when the developer need time and it is something I cant help with, she was really mad at me for not doing a good work. The developer doesn't even like the company. They felt my boss is defensive and very rude. Countless of people go in and out of the company. And now they have no staff left. Just her , her son and the part-timer chinese girl.

Some of the explaination that making sense here .. A lot of cultures are just byproducts of demographics. Just go to any overpopulated country and you'll see the same behaviours. Even in the Netherlands people can be pushy, greedy and rude, they're one of the most population dense countries in the world. Then go to Norway or Canada, and people are very self-aware and courteous. Too many people in a small area is the definition of hell. Consider moving to the country / rural area, if you can. I'm sure the people there will be nicer.

Native Hongkong people just as rude today as it was in 1980s. Ask a question or make a comment, and you may be berated if the seller sensed that you do not appear rich and you are not buying. They expect that you just make a quick purchase. The sellers are not as friendly after a sale. The Hong Kongers are under high stress 24/7 with high living cost and crowded living. And naturally are short tempered. Today, I rather go to other places that are visitor friendly and avoid being agitated and aggravated. I can "visit" these places on KZfaq channels and buy online from the comforts of my home. I can dine at fine Cantonese restaurants in my neighborhood same taste anytime and cost less too.

as I know most of Hong Kong people had already gone to oversea countries. in fact the Hong Kong people are not that much. many chinese you can see in Hong Kong nowaday are come from another place (many of them come from mainland of China, some of them come from Vietnam......etc) in fact the original Hong Kong people also feel their behaviour is not ok and unacceptable, so some of the oringal Hong Kong people has been complaining ,but they don't want to change their behaviour, most of them even pretending they come from Hong Kong and doing many things and say many things which is wrong, it's something really unset the Hong Kong people. as everyone speak Cantonese in Hong Kong (just like American and British English ,Mandarin speaker have to speak Cantonese in Hong Kong nowaday ) it's hard for you to recognise who are real Hong Kong people. as you know ,hk people are famous on better behaviour(behave properly as it is the original hk culture) than another chinese from other part of China. it have not changed so be hand over, but there is just many chinese who are not from UK and behave not properly. do you know how many hk people complaining those people's (they are not from hk, they mainly come from mainland of China, some of them are Vietnam )behaviour?as what they are doing is illegal in hk and not acceptable in hk. some hk people even call police as those chinese doing illegal behaviour in hk (it's ok in mainland of China but it's not ok in hk).lets say they even singing Keraoke in public places in the midnights , no matter how many times the police talk to them. anyway hope you can meet some real Hong Kong when you are in Hong Kong, so you can understand what is happen and you can ask them why, they will tell you something same sa me. thanks

I rarely admire this guy of what they're saying. and I am inclined to agree your point sometimes, most people are thinking being rude is normal in their current place and influenced by the rudeness TVB star. They're cultivated too much rudeness people in the entire Hong Kong and even little kids are exactly the same. Too many disrespectful people who they're only defend their heritage and keep being language profanities all the time. I used to born in that place and that arrogance people who think they're superior all the time by playing online game, Having game card at school and even playing that stuff at computer centre. Those teens who they're in Hong Kong estate are mostly rudeness and unbelievable. Thanks for telling me the truth that I always mad about since I was born in such a misadventure outrageous. I know you weren't intended to be a racism but just telling me the truth of what I am mad about. Too many heartless relatives have such an outrageous attitude and controlling everybody like a cage animal.
