Please do more of these videos, I’m trying to learn useful hand motions to go along with teaching kids online from China. And I figure sign language would be a good connection to speaking both languages. Why don’t we have a universal sign language? Would we all stop talking? .... that would be awesome.

Hey Missy ECE! I will try my best to answer your question. ;D The way I see it is that in the speaking community, part of their culture is their languages. If all members of the speaking community spoke one language, then the various cultures of the world will no longer be as distinct as before. Same with sign languages. If everyone in the deaf community signed the same sign language, then it's kind of separating hearing communities from deaf communities. Having different sign languages for different countries make their own deaf communities distinct in a way, thus making their culture special in their own way. Hope that helped!

The first deaf school in Shanghai was started by French Catholics and ASL is heavily influenced by French Sign Language so it is understandable that some signs would be the same

That's cool, Taiwan has 3 major schools one in the North, central and southern parts of the island. The schools were heavily influenced by their teachers, many of whom were Japanese.

Fun fact, my brother was adopted three years ago from China. He was 14 at the time, and deaf. When we brought him to America, we had to translate an American word into Chinese, and then show him the American sign for that word. It's been a long process. Now, he doesn't remember Chinese sign language anymore.

I believe it is taking your left hand and putting it over your left ear. If they also have trouble speaking the right-hand goes over the mouth.

The Living God loves you so much that He sent His Holy Son Jesus from heaven to earth, to be born of a virgin, to grow up and die on a cross for our sins, and to be put into a tomb 3 days and rise from the dead the third day, and He (Jesus) went back up to heaven. We must receive Sinless Jesus sincerely to be God's child(John 1:12).After we get saved by grace through faith in Christ, if we truly love the Lord Jesus Christ, then we will obey Jesus(John 14:15). Mark 1:15 "And saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: Repent ye, and believe the gospel." Jesus said in John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. "There's a real hell. It says in Revelation 21:8 "But for the cowardly, & unbelieving, & abominable, and murderers, & immoral persons & sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone..." Please sincerely receive Holy Jesus & put your true faith & trust in Him today and repent.

Why is there spoken English? Why is there spoken Chinese? Why is there spoken Spanish? Sign language is the exact same. Why is there not one spoken universal language? ...exactly.
