Cronos is also a good brand, the quality of finishing is on par with San Martin.

Yes they are! They make the best submariner clone and their new black bay is nice

@@southbrit Have you seen the newest version of their logo on the v2 36mm explorer? That is one of my favorites. I have the original 36mm explorer from Cronos and the applied text logo is okay, but is not visible in most lighting conditions against the glossy black dial.

I picked up two IXdao engineer watches and they get more wrist time than many other higher name brand watches in my collection.

I recently bought a used Seestern S434 in black, and am trying to understand which version it is. It's got quite a small crown and the on-the-fly clasp says PUSH rather than the slide-button I've seen on reviews. Does this make it an early model and is there any other way to tell?

@@mrd64 s435 the easiest way to tell is it has a tophat crystal. So if it has a regular domed crystal, it's s434. If the crown is small, v1. V2 just increased crown size

@@wiseguygazette Thanks, it's definitely a 434 - the crystal is almost flat and it does have a small crown, but I can't see any other reviews where it has the same clasp, so perhaps it's very early v1?

I'm a big fan of Chinese watches. All the brands you've mentioned make great watches. Another brand I really love is Cronos. I think they make the best Submariner homage. They also make the best Deep Sea homage.

Cronos is awesome too! On the bottom row of the watch box is a 36mm Cronos explorer. Little things like the male endlinks bother me, but it is great value. I have heard their sub is next level though. Thanks for watching!

you mean clomage. There is nothing you unique in a design the flat out copies the original and only change is the name.

@@daleyfamily2179 Yes I should say clomage. Especially the Rolex copies are pretty much 1:1. Some of them have cool differences from the original though. Tandorio is nice with the short lugs and better proportions IMO than SKX013 Pagani design has female endlinks unlike Longines. Same with Seestern vs Glasshutes. Proxima has smaller dimensions than CW. Tudor doesn't make a 38x45x13 or 37x45x13mm black bay. BB54 is good dimensions but not a fan of the colorway. These are all preference, but in all cases I prefer the design choices of the clomage.

Planning that video now! Mostly budget resoleable brands like Meermin and Thursday, and some Indonesian handwelted boots. But interested in brands like Grant Stone, Nicks, White's, etc.

I need to try a Baltany soon. I like watches with bracelets, and they do not have that many options that fit my wrist. Hopefully they release a small sports watch soon. I like my Cronos explorer 36mm, but little things like the male endlinks and applied logo make it an occasional wear only. But the quality is good for the price!

Couple points here, cheap and quality rarely go handed in. Cheap labor isn't skilled and skilled labor isn't cheap. 2nd proxmia didn't send me crap when I bought a watch directly from them, and its not regulated at all. Its plus 70 seconds a day, and because its a mono bloc case its not as simple as pull the movement out and regulate. A Chinese watch that failed, shocker lol.

First of all, that sucks that you had a bad experience with Proxima. I ordered from "proxima Official Store" on Aliexpress and they sent pictures from a few angles and on a timegrapher reading -1 sec with dial up. It ran about +1 sec when it arrived, and settled in to about +6 sec. I have heard from others on Reddit that they received pictures as well, so that's really unfortunate, especially with the monobloc. As for cheap and quality, I agree to an extent. When I say quality, I am speaking in relative terms. And if you equate quality with price across the board, you will often be wrong. For example an IWC Ingenieur is a $10k watch that is not substantially higher quality than many in the $5-8k range. These Chinese brands are saving a huge amount of money on R&D. Therefore they are higher quality than an equivalently priced Seiko or Orient. Simple as that. Same reason a Genault is higher quality than many watches double the price. These are about as quality as you can get under $300, so I call them "quality". But of course they are still entry level watches. Thanks for your feedback and have a great day!

The word "unique" doesn't belong in this review. How would you feel if someone downloaded your video, reposted it as theirs, and made revenue on it and didn't share it with you? Based on what I see in the collection you've spent about 1/3 of the money a used BB58 Blue costs. You could have just waited a little more and saved yourself from explaining to someone, "well actually this is a San Martin, it's a Chinese watch brand that offers near similar finishing at fraction of the price, let me show you with my magnifying glass how crisp the edge of this lug is finished..." 😂🤣😅

Fair enough! I enjoy the variety personally. If I had a third of a used black bay I would be less happy. And I'm not the type to spend serious money on something that can be confused for something that costs $100. In the end it's jewelry. If I enjoy the watch and it costs $200, I am a hell of a lot happier than if I spent $5k
