‪@gururewben9015‬ born on 21st June, 1961, at choithar village is a renowned naga folk artist & musicologist. It was not until he was 31 years of age he made his breakthrough when he performed for a large crowd at the Naga Student Federation ( NSF) Conference at Ukhrul 1992. Thereafter, he became a household name.
He has so far released three music album Tantivity (1999), Creation( 2007) and Our Story(2011). He has performed t various events. His notable performance include those at the World Social Forum(2006) in Delhi; Festival of SAARC Folklore(2007) in New Delhi; the Asia Indigenous People Fair(2008) at Chiangmai in Thailand; Rajasthan International Folk Festival (2009) in Jodhpur; India-China Handshake Concert (2015) at Kunning; China -India Business Conclave (2016) at Yunnan in China; India 75th Independence Day Celebration(2022) and 131st Durand Cup (2022).
He has been honoured with various awards including title of "GURU" under Guru Shishya Parampara Scheme 2004-2005 under Ministry of Culture; the Manipur State Best Music Award for feature film, 'Mayophigi Macha' in 1994( his first award) ; State Kala Akademi Award for Tribal Folk Music in 2004-2005; North East Excellence Award in 2009; National Tribal Award from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs; Best Music Director in 2019 for non-feature film,' My Generous Village' at the 12th Manipur State Film Awards & recently Awarded with Padmashri Award.
He has also acted, composed and co-produced in multiple documentaries and films including national award winning film, ' Songs on Mashangva' in which he acted and also composed music for, and the national award winning documentary' Wearing the Face' by Joshy Joseph for which he composed folk music.
