Beautiful work. I'll have to bring in my Chippewa apaches to your shop, when the soles wear off a bit more.

Great job!, in particular when you clean and condition the uppers before putting the new sole. Most other cobblers on youtube do the cleaning/conditioning after the whole shoe is put together and I always felt that way it wont reach into the bottom leather closest to the outsole. Kudos!

The Chippewa service boot have classic good looks and I own 2 pairs, but always viewed them as glorified dress shoes with its cost cutting construction (one of my heels just fell off). You have taken your Chippewas into the "real service boot" category, and they will now stand up to hard work in the elements for years. Fantastic job Aaron, I wish Chippewa had built them this way ........... doesn't matter anymore as they are out of production. 😢

Thanks Jay, Sadly you’re right, that’s why I didn’t want to let this opportunity pass by so I had to buy them and improved them! Thanks for watching!🙏

@@AaronG2480 Right on man !! If you get a chance to pick up a crazy horse leather pair, go for it. I use Saphir suede cleaner and Bickmore Apache conditioner to keep the Nubuck feel. The results keep them looking good. After the Apache conditioner, the color gets darker, but after a week or two, the nice light color returns. Your Chippewa improvements would make the ultimate casual service boot on the crazy horse.

Nice job. However, that is so much to be said on these type of repair jobs. First, Cost of rebuild and vs new boots. The used boot was a little more than $100 dollars including tax and delivery. Cost of repair at least 200. If you live near by you can save money on the $25 each way for delivery. Total most likely coast will be 350 plus tax. The pair of new the very same boots is $280 including free delivery from amazon. Several aspects in repairs he should have mentioned. 1. He requires 50% of the cost to be paid up front for any repairs. The problem I see here is what if quality of work is not up to par with expectations? Would he return your money and your boot? Of course not. He has possession and you already paid 100 dollars. This is a typical Latin America business practice which the businessman is always looks after themselves in case things go south in the repair. I have seen so many times shoe repairman hack the job and require the consumer to pay regardless of the product turned out. 2. He is not cheap. He has not been in business for a long time like other shops who have been establish for about 20 years. When it comes to repairs, very few people can do excellent work. Respectfully he is not there yet. Strangely, He did not mentioned how much this job would cost. I know his cost for a "regular" resole is about 200. Lastly, these type of boot when used, have the imprint of the previous owner's foot sole. So, good luck getting a good fit to your foot. For a $280 a new boot is a much better investment. However, if you want to pay about $400 for a complete resole and used boot is your own sage choice. If you visit his shop, please be aware of the none existing parking and the "wonderers' " in that section of town. As I stepped out of my car to visit his shop, several of these find people were trying to break in to my car. No más East Los for me!

I will always buy a new pair over repair. Most repairs are almost the same as a new pair. No brainer. There are working shoes. If you take good care of them, they will last a long time. For my other leather sole boots I use the 1 mil. vibram sole protector. I have been using the 1 mil. protectors on my Alden's 405 since the 80s with excellent results.
