Yea I wore Timberlands my whole life and thought they were the shit until got couple pairs of Nicks and Truman’s and realized the Tim’s are pure trash. And yea I stay away from Obenhaufs for same reasons. Smiths, Venetian and Bicks 4 for the win.

It’s crazy how we seem to have the same boot journey. I remember agonizing over if I should get these or the Wolverine 1000 miles and I ended up getting the wolverines.

@@aChannelAboutBoots ya I remember the Katahdin boot was the American made boot people recommended as a starting place 10-15 years ago on forums. At that time the 1000 Mile wasn’t even out I don’t think. Red Wing was also a little more hardcore.

I have the L.L. Bean Sportility Boot. It was the Chippewa model from L.L. Beam before that one you have. I have the original receipt that says I bought them in 2001. I paid $125.00 for them. When I got them I didn't like them because they didn't fit my feet well, so I didn't use them much. Then about 2010 or so I replaced the original insole with a $25.00 Timberland Pro work boot insole and wore heavy socks and,,,BAM!...they felt great! Now I oil them every year with 'Mermac #1' oil that has bees wax in it. They feel like a bespoke boot and I love them! When I first bought them, they looked just like the picture you showed of your boots when they were new. Now they look just like yours do now; all dark, but I don't mind at all. BTW, judging by your boots in your video, those boots are VERY serviceable! Mine are ever so slightly worse than yours, and totally serviceable. Thanks for your review!

Ya I still use them for outdoor work.

I can't more agree with you regarding the half to full size down advises and comments. I mostly wear Red Wing, Nick's and White's since ages and must admit bought all the time the true size. I've never been fitted in a brand store (Brannock measures and all the show that spins around...) but mostly bought my boots online or multi-brand stores and based my fitting only on a very common sense which is the following. My feet is having a length that can vary (get bigger) based on the time of the day, the weather, the heat and so on..., so I can't fit a 29 cm foot length in a shoes that is equal or smaller than 29 cm. Definitely people advising those kind of size down to half or full size either never worn proper fitted shoes / boots or they love to suffer while wearing their boots, otherwise can not explain how come they are advising such things. Heard a guy on KZfaq recently saying you try your shoes and if you touch in front go down a half size... Dear God, I'm not into self flagellating myself to do such things and if he prefers to suffer, then well, Lord paths are impenetrable...!, then be my guest my friend and enjoy the pain...!

I have these in oxblood, I don't put anything on them and they still look great....a good gateway drug to the boot world.

Very interesting! Thanks for showing them to us. They look to be in pretty good shape to me. 🙂 Perfect for what you're using them for.

Ya it’s why I keep them. They still work fine and are good boots to do something where they could get trashed.
@JC_ORTIZ7 ай бұрын
Wash them with dawn dish soap the soap will wash away all the oils !!! Then conditioning your boots with bicks 4 !!

Im pretty sure I had these as a kid and tossed them before I knew what I had: the gateway drug lol

Objectively they aren’t that bad. Full grain leather uppers, Vibram sole, made in USA. However compared to PNW they are kinda junk. The carpet padding and paper insole are huge knocks against them.

Overall, the boots have held up. They look like they're still wearable.
@EDHBlvd9 ай бұрын
Totally still wearable. Totally ready for winter yard work duty for a decade.
