"CHiPs" is a classic action-comedy film released in 1977, based on the popular television series of the same name. Directed by James Frawley, the movie brings the dynamic duo of California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers, Officer Francis "Ponch" Poncherello (played by Erik Estrada) and Officer Jon Baker (played by Larry Wilcox), to the big screen. Set in the bustling city of Los Angeles, the film follows the daily adventures and high-octane pursuits of these motorcycle-riding law enforcement officers as they patrol the highways and keep the streets safe. With their distinct personalities, Ponch's charm and Baker's more serious approach, the two officers find themselves caught up in a series of thrilling and humorous situations, all while forming a strong bond.

I was 6 when I first started watching CHiPs on 1978. Just got back into watching Seasons 1-4… something about this show… like I was in every episode because the locations look soooooo familiar… not sure if I’m making sense here.

I liked the show The Chips. Those men were very handsome, iconic in their own ways. My fav characters were Erik E , Larry Wilcox and that guy something Pine. Good days!

I must say that I have been a fan of chips for many many years. To me it was one of the most greatest law-enforcement shows ever to be put on TV. It's really hard to say which one of the characters will my favorite because that really all good. The only one whose name really is not worthy of mention is Bruce Jenner. What a wasted life. I never really knew that Clarence Gilyard the Third was in chips because alright love him in Walker

_CHiPs_ seems to be a very blessed show. All but one of these actors are still alive. In contrast, _Welcome Back Kotter_ and _Different Strokes_ seem cursed.

Where does he live then? The video said NYC. You say Idaho, but on a comment two weeks ago said Virginia. He was on a TV show three years ago about a Reunion 80's Vehicle Race. KITT, the A-Team Van, and the CHiPs motorcycle. They had to go out and find the van and motorcycle. Erik indicated there was only one motorcycle he used, and he would be able to tell if it was original by a hidden feature only he knew about. They did find the original motorcycle and the van. There was not problem with KITT as there were a lot of them used.

Michael Dorn also played Commander Worf on Star Trek The Next Generation and Deep Space 9. I met him in the mid 90s when he came through my work. He was volunteering his time as a pilot to fly doctors around to help kids with cancer. He was a nice guy. We talked air planes. He didn’t want to talk Star Trek too much. Also met Larry Wilcox when I was a kid. He was filming a western in the Columbia, CA state park.

Estrada lives in Idaho and is a Police officer.. Reserves. He said the CHIPS show went through a lot of the Kawasaki motorcycles during filming all them years. He has one from the show to this day inside his house in a room.

@dodgeboykev Erik Estrada lives in Studio City, CA. right now. He became a reserve police officer in Indiana. Then he went to Idaho in 2016 to be a reserve police officer. 😁

What about Sindy Cahill? At the very end. I remember an episode when I was 13 where a teenager shot a pellet gun at a road sign from high up a hill and accidentally hit a car windshield causing a major crash. When he went to get the gun later, Officer Cahill spotted him while driving by the same hill on the highway and apprehended him.

Yep, I don’t recall them drawing their weapons even once in all those years in the show. I was in my teens when the show aired. I’m 56 now and retired after 30 yrs in Law Enforcement (22 as a Fed). They don’t make criminals like they used to (lol)…most didn’t put up much of a fight in the show. Unfortunately, that is longer the case. Only thing that hasn’t changed is that cops are still way underpaid, especially at the state and local levels. At the Federal level, it’s a different story.
