Beware of VA Benefits Scams: Warnings from Congress, VA, FTC, & OIG

Today we are discussing the issue of unaccredited claims individuals charging veterans and their families illegal fees to file VA claims, obtain medical evidence and nexus letters, and more. A group of 31 members of Congress sent a letter to VA Secretary McDonough addressing the increase in unaccredited individuals profiting off veterans. The problem has worsened since the passage of the PACT Act.
The letter also said that the FTC has fielded over 150,000 complaints of fraud and illegal business practices relating to veterans and their benefits in 2022. Following this, The VA Office of Inspector General (OIG) issued a fraud alert related to DBQ forms and these unaccredited claims consultants.
VA then held a press conference focusing on the issue of unaccredited "claims consultants" charging excessive, illegal fees to Veterans to access their VA benefits. VA expressed its support for the GUARD Act, noting that it has observed a swell of these companies emerging, with some charging up to 6 times what the veteran would receive in benefits.

What about the physicians that charge for a NEXUS letter? Even the physicians that VA refer patients to through community care?

If they would write the claims appropriately and not send them off to over developing examinations that are going to deny the veterans benefit, then they should also be responsible. I don’t understand why they make things very difficult for the redwood, in light of the M 21 sighting with the veteran. Moreover, QTC, LHI and other third-party contractors sometimes use non-MD to provide examinations to veterans and what is even worse is that after your doctor provides you with the DBQ, the VA comes around and schedules you an examination in order to have contradicting medical opinion, and guess what?, They’re going to side with their third-party contractor whom they are paying big big big big big bucks to deny you, so who is correct the veteran who six assistance from a company that’s trying to help them, and remember it’s your money that you want to spend for your interest, or the VA who spending billions and billions and billions of dollars or companies to deny you your claim, So who is correct you or the VA? The whole incestuous relationship with These third-party contractors, has made life very impossible for Veterans that would not have gotten 100% disability if it were not for the DBQ.

I’m curious. How much cash do YOU make off Veterans? If the VSO’s and other paid “accredited “ agents were any damn good, they’d at least return phone calls and/or emails. That said, not all agents are horrible, however, they’re horrible enough to create difficulties for Veteran’s trying to get the help they need. Look at the backlog. No excuses. A lot of these “non accredited “ companies are picking up the slack you created and many are helping. You can’t sue them without looking in the mirror. Veterans should be able to choose who they get help from.

Hi I am veteran who is calling fail on Ohio media school corporation Be on air is the Florida own company several of us veterans have graduated from there and still have not gotten jobs. We have not gotten benefits they lied to us about programs we’ve lost tens of thousands of dollars and finding and schooling beyond air is a corporation of other multi schools throughout the United States under other school names to separate it from BeOnAir corporation has a corporate personnel person in every school why is that if they’re separate companies . We need A full investigation. None of us veterans have gotten jobs. Most veterans just give up and fill the program. I graduated, but failed the program because I didn’t get a job within the three months or 90 days because I’m a disabled veteran but I graduated in the top of my class go figure at age 50.
