Granny Pat , I’m 53 years old and I enjoyed watching you and listening to your stories as you cook it brings back wonderful memories I have of my Grandmamas. Me and one of my Grandmothers were so much alike, we’d have a good time or I’d end up in trouble. But not for long, we’d be laughing before we knew it. But thanks for the cooking lesson and the memories.

Granny Pat makes her dressing the way I was taught by my Mom. Using fresh white bread etc. I don’t know why I switched to a big bag of salty, store brand. Granny Pat has inspired me to go back.

Granny Pat I am granny Sherry. 77 years old and feel it every bit. Love watching you, you remind me of myself. I keep doing what I can even though it gets harder . About the only difference in our. Cornbread dressing is I saute my onion and celery in a little butter before I add it to my bread and cornbread and bread mixture. I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas. My grandmother was a wonderful cook, grew up in depression area. I was young just wished I had watched her more. She cooked in the cafe's in our town. Thank you for sharing with us.❤

I do mine the same way, except I put my onion, and celery in some butter and soften it up then just pour it in the mix, then I just use room temp broth from the box or can and I add an egg, then stir it all up and pop in the oven simple! Thank you for your video, I enjoy watching you!

I love watching you. I have a very stressful job & am usually an emotional mess by the end of the day, but each night when I get piled up in bed I watch your latest video and you always make my day. This video sure brought back memories of several things from grandpa saving wrappers from camel cigarettes, granny saving green stamps in a book, my other granny putting to much light bread in the dressing, my mom saying the same thing as you concerning the oyster dressing, and last but not least, just how much I miss it all. I forward your videos to my own mom who is now 82 and always says that you are just a pretty woman granny pat.

Granny Pat - Thank you for your Cornbread Dressing Recipe! - I am definitely going to try your way of making dressing. - I am from the South, but Mom and Grandma always made delicious cornbread dressing, but their recipe calls for the dressing mixture to be very, very moist and juicy (even much thinner than cornbread batter) of course, you have to bake it a long time, but when baked, the dressing is very solid, but also very moist. - I am definitely going to try it your way!! Speaking of Dumplings - Another easy Dumpling, besides canned biscuits, is to use plain Flour Tortillas and cut them up. Most people cut them into strips (about the size of a wide noodle x 2" long) but I prefer to cut the tortilla into about 2" squares, then add them to your broth. - They cook up nice and full and make a good dumpling. - Very easy, you might want to try them sometime. GOD BLESS!!

Hi Granny Pat! Your recipe is so similar to my mom's. This is my 1st Thanksgiving without her so you brought me alot of joy watching your video! My mom was the best cook & all the family, neighbors & friends all gathered at mom's house for dinner. I would come early to help with all the preparations. So many beautiful memories. She lived on a beautiful tree lined street with beautiful large elm trees. The fall colors were beautiful. Now its me & my son cooking Thanksgiving dinner together...not the same but I cherish those beautiful memories with mom!❤❤❤

Love seeing your version of cornbread dressing. Appreciated you saying “if you like yours stick with it”. You might like reading how we do ours. MIL was from southern part of Missouri and this was her recipe. We sauté one stick of butter, lots more celery with the onion until soft. We add all our seasoning to this sauté(salt/pepper, lots of poultry seasoning, bit of onion powder. We pre moisten the dried bread cubes with chicken broth and then add crumbled cornbread, adding broth until desired consistency Then add whisked eggs 4-6 for large batch of dressing. We bake ours in deeper bowl type casserole dishes, for 45-50 @350-375. Family likes this dressing as the favorite dish on table. Gotta have lots of leftovers as we eat it cold, heated, on cold turkey sandwiches, or open faced hot turkey sandwiches with potatoes and gravy. Oooh I dawn hardly wait until next week. I am gonna teach my daughter how to make this dressing this year as at 83 do want the family to continue enjoying this great dish. I wish I had spent more time learning my Mom’s unwritten recipes. 💕

Watching the video brings many wonderful memories of my Mother and my childhood. I was absolutely blessed to have had the parents and the family I had. I’m one of 17 children, 9 girls and 8 boys. My mother cooked 3 full meals daily and did so for nearly 50 years. I admit to being biased. My mother made the best cornbread dressing. I was able to enjoy her cooking for 45 years. The meals were not of fancy means. However, the food prepared was absolutely delicious and abundant. If you went hungry, it was your doing. Too be able to sit and have a meal with my parents once again, PRICELESS. Thank you for sharing your experiences and making this video. Best regards Grandma Pat♥️

Your recipe looks delicious! It’s a lot like the recipe from my Dad’s side of the family. They taught us how to make it. Except I use butter and put the celery & onion and sauté it. Then add it to everything. I haven’t tried it w/ corn bread yet but I love cornbread and I’m sure it makes it soooo good! I only have a small family of 3. And every year since 2020 I have had to make the whole Thanksgiving dinner by myself! I don’t like it at all.. I miss big Thanksgiving dinner’s with the whole Family. It’s strange because after everyone had to stay at home during the quarantine they never did come back together for our Family Holidays. I guess it would have gradually happened eventually. But it’s kind of lonely. Plus it’s nice for everyone to bring a dish and a desert. I make the same things and mix up a few different deserts. The thing’s I alway’s make are Baked Mac & Cheese, Dressing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes & gravy, and Banana pudding for my main desert. ❤️

This is my way of making certain dishes, not necessarily the ‘right way’! People have so many different likes and dislikes. You create your own recipe by experimenting. Take away and add to! That’s how it is done. Very few dishes follow an exact recipe (unless it’s homemade rolls!). Haha

Our radio was a Philco. It is an ivory color. It may have come from the S&H Green Stamp Store. It has the tubes inside. I still have it. I remember being awakened by the smell of coffee, stumbling to the kitchen to see my dad and sit with him while he sipped from his favorite gray Fiestaware teacup and listened to a farm news report from Amarillo, TX on station KGNC. The reporter went by Cotton John Smith. I stared at that radio like it had a video screen while we sat at the table eating at lunch time. Momma and daddy talked about the news. Us kids were to be "seen and not heard". My mom made her combo cornbread/light bread dressing in a big, white enamel dish pan (LOL, I still have that too). Dressing was the highlight of the meal. Extra portions were baked in all sizes and shapes of Pyrex dishes and stored in the freezer to be served throughout fall to Christmas.

My family is so particular about their Turkey stuffing. I can’t change the recipe, or I will have a mutiny on my hands! 😂 My mother taught me how to make it, and I can’t change it. I have to use the Arnold seasoned cubbed bread stuffing, onion, celery, 2 sticks of melted butter, and the liver (🤢) that comes with the Turkey, has to get cut up and put in it. It MUST go inside the bird. Haha…. They honestly fight over this! Never a spoonful left, after dinner is complete. Funny how all recipes are a bit different, but it’s just a matter of what you’re used too. Happy Thanksgiving Pat!

You may do what I did… make a second one. If it’s different enough, people shouldn’t think it is trying go upstage the classic dressing. Just an extra side, and extra sides are always cool, especially when they can be made in advance. (By the way, I did a second dressing not because I was ever tired of my family’s 125+ year old recipe. I just always was interested in cornbread dressing, no one ever did in my family. As it turns out, I never eat the cornbread one, but I always make it now, and I only eat the classic family dressing recipe. 😂)

Wonderful memories. I wish I could remember my mothers fruit salad she made. I think she made the sauce she put in it from the juice of the fruit cocktail can and maybe pineapple juice and mixed flour to thicken it. Then just put fruit cocktail, apples oranges grapes , other fruits and pecans ❤❤

Granny Pat I think that's what is missing in so many families today. I grew up in a home with my Mom , grandma and 2 older brothers. We sat as a family at the table. Lord you make me miss my mom and grandmother something fierce. Thank you for your warming videos.

I’m lovin all ur jadeite collections. Enjoying all ur stories and recipes.❤ I used to make my dumplings from canned biscuits but I found the name brand has changed and they partially disintegrate in the gravy. I now make them by hand, it’s very easy plus I make 16 quarts when making chicken n dumplings. Yes the cheaper brands of biscuits hold up better…I make a hot/mild sausage, cornbread, mixed bread cubes stuffing. I add eggs to mine then cook a spoonful on the stove to taste.

I loved watching you make your cherished recipe❤ I did the same thing you did cleaning the stovetop. I cleaned off the numbers on the oven dial and used a magic marker to do my best putting them back on....they didn't make replacement knobs because the brand was out of business. I now have a new stove and will not clean the knobs like I once did! Thankyou for sharing your recipes and stories❤

Granny Pat, you did an awesome job on that dressing! I used to make that 2 breads dressing many years ago, now I do all cornbread dressing. My husband loved oysters and I often made it with oysters, or pecans, raisins. Thank you for sharing! Happy Thanksgiving!❤

This is the first time I’ve seen you!! You remind me so much of my Maw Maw!! I make her cornbread dressing, and, to me, it’s the best..she used cornbread, biscuits and sometimes white bread!!

Hello Ms. granny Pat, i justfoundyour channel and i love watching you show your recipes! My grandmother made cornbread , after itcooled we broke it up and then usedabout 4 slices of toastedlight bread piched offjust like you did here , added salt, pepper, poultry seasoning, chicken broth, cream of chicken soup, cream of celery soup, several boiled eggs ( chopped), and sometimes crumbled up a few saltine crackers, sauteed onions and green onions, it was so good! too!

Granny Pat, we just found your channel and LOVE YOU! My husband says I’m going to be exactly like you in a few years 😂 Oh, and I pretty much make stuffing the same way-never in the bird, and no gross oysters! But…I do save the turkey dripping from the last turkey to use for the NEXT stuffing. I just freeze it and add it next time, topping up with boxed chicken broth.

Happy Thanksgiving Granny Pat. This made me think about my Mother’s dressing. Everyone looked forward to her dressing at Thanksgiving and Christmas. It was one of her many specialties. I wish I would have paid more attention to her recipes but I’m not a cook. Thank you for the memories. I have another memory of my Grannie’s sage. I don’t know what she did, but it was not good. I always pretended that I loved it though. ❤
