It was written after the Irish Republican 'Army' attacked and murdered children outside a McDonald's Restaurant in Warrington in Northern England in early 1993. Ironically, an Irish immigrant population of England. You couldn't make the stupidity of it all up really.

There’s something particularly moving about this rendition of “Zombie”. Already a powerful song about the senselessness of violence and how it claims innocent lives, hearing it get sung by a chorus somehow gives this song even more power, because it imbues the song with a sense of collective passion, which I believe Dolores o’Riordan wanted people to feel all along. Rest in power Dolores, and may you continue to inspire others to end violence wherever they are.

we actually sing this song pretty often in our music class (I'm living in austria) an you can actually hear a classroom full of students singing this song in the lunchbreak but everyone sings it because they think it's a great song and don't quiet understand the meaning or actually are making fun out of the meaning and just like to shout zombie on top of their lungs because they haven't got anything else to do...I think that's really sad because our teachers notice this stuff happening but never even tried to explain the song and the backround...
@Claddaugh66
@Claddaugh66 5 жыл бұрын
@@ch.s.5180 I understand your opinion that the teacher should explain it. But it's a good way that you sing it so "care free" cause you like the song. I remember me hearing this song the first time and I did the same (maybe I was 13 years old), didn't understand the meaning of the lyrics. Years later i heard it again and was like "oh wow, its rly sad", it made me think about the topic and i couldn't hear this for years cause it made me sad. What i want so say is, everyone has their own time to understand a song and the meaning behind this. I think, when your schoolmates grow older they will realise and sing it with other intentions ^^

When I remember the notion of an angelic choir in heaven this makes so much sense. Perhaps, for some or many, it might be but a parable. The amount of emotions I get from this when I allow it to overwhelm me is astonishing. The Word is 'love' - and being able to come together like this is a testimony to our human capability of pure connection. If we are made in the image of God the sound we create together perhaps makes 'us' One - (like) the divine. I hope the world can come together in song to lift us all to a better place in connection with spirit and nature.

With the number of people who love songs that are so powerful and preach such meaningful messages it's both heartwarming and saddening. So many bands gain popularity from messages that encourage change. This shows how many want it. And yet, so many cling to old ideals and prevent the needed evolution and love. I love this song and the cranberries so much, i just hope that the messages are not lost.

I'm a simpleton: I see The Cranberries and Zombie together in the same line and I simply click Thumbs Up no matter who is singing!! Though many times I wonder if hooomans understand the gravity and melancholy behind the lyrics!

I'm claustrophobic in crowds and I doubt I'd ever do this, but I have to say this is so wonderful to me... when a group of complete strangers can come together and do something positive and create something beautiful. It's so sad that so much of humanity is selfish and cruel so much of the time, but we know that we're capable of such beauty. Deepest respect for Choir Choir Choir and their loyal and passionate fans.

I just love these choirs! My sister has been part of two global virtual choirs since the Covid outbreak. They all record themselves and upload it. Tthen,, by some techno magic I don't understand, it all is put together in a concert online! She's had a great time with that!

As an Irishman, it's great to see so many people of different cultures sing a song, so beautifully about a story of the struggles my ancestors had to endure to allow me the freedom to write this message. RIP Dolores.
