Tardis is a better pick for shop owner. You can trade with different time periods in opportune time. For example you can arrive in Numenor with umbrellas you-know-when and sell them for double price. Or just find artefacts in time they where common and bring them into the future for trade.

Merph, not sure use of a dragon to kill targets counts as assassination. At that point it's more "unprovoked military invasion." Assassination implies subtlety in a way that dragons are traditionally the antithesis of. (Subtle of wit, sometimes, sure, but subtle in exercising of violence?)
@merphynapierreviews

Idk, there are a lot of different types of dragons in the world. For instance an eastern dragon usually is more slender and wise, there could definitely be some stealth happening there. Plus there’s water dragons that could sabotage boats… the possibilities really are endless

They didn’t choose the TARDIS! 💀😂 WHY????? You are right about the short books. If someone can write like that… Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Ursula Le Guin… usually they are masters of words. And yes, even Steven Erikson.

When I was a kid there were fewer tv options than there are now, and they were inundated with exotic pets. My favorite was Ben, the friendly Bear, Flipper the Dolphin was good too. Of course Lassie the Collie Dog, but I think my favorite was the one with the friendly Elephant. Sorry, I was never partial to dragons, tho Eddie, the kid in the Munsters, had a pet dragon, Spot, who lived under the stairs. So, if it's my adventure I think I'd try a Bear. Bears always reminded me of big, friendly dogs.

I tend to also like short-ish/-er books, as well. As much as I love many of the worlds and characters I get to read about, sometimes I kind of just want the experience to come to a conclusion. Like, I want to see what's next even though I love the now. I haven't even completed one of my all time favorite series, The Deathgate Cycle, because books are relatively long (to me, at least) and I'm always exhausted at the end. So then I take a break from the series. But then I take too long of a break and since I don't want to miss anything or not remember for the subsequent book, I'll re-read the previous to refresh myself. And it just kind of loops like that to where I've read the first book like a dozen times, the second book like 10 times, the third like 6 times, and so. So I've never gotten to the end because my OCD keeps resetting my reading wants and needs. lmao. Which, to circle back, is why I like shorter books. I get to experience everything that I love, more quickly, to move onto the next book that I love, etc.

The defining conceit of murder-hobo-ism isn't so much killing and stealing, it's treating everything ... _everything_ ... as a lootbox: "You enter the magic shop. It has a few common expendable items and what looks like a single, somewhat humble, magic sword in a case." "Fred and Finieous go to talk to the shopkeeper while Charley puts out the Closed sign and lowers the shades." "'What are you doing with my shades?'" "While the shopkeeper is distracted, Finieous sticks his dagger in the shopkeeper's kidney." "You detect a trap in the corridor ahead." "After we disarm it, we get out the picks and crowbars. Traps are expensive!" "When you open the door, you see an empty 10' x 10' room." "We pop the hinges on the door and drop it into the portable hole. Have you ever priced a solid oak door?" "As night is falling, you reach a humble, but warm and welcoming inn." "What level is the innkeeper? And what's a good place to sell some flatware and used mugs?" Everything. Assassins and con-men are a rather different breed of cat.

I'd change the animal companion to be a wolf or a bird or something, because then I'm literally just Radagast with a job. Also...pretty sure I wouldn't want to be hanging around with Lord of the Rings dragons. Smaug is about as chill as they come. Glaurung is *much* worse. And then there's Ancalagon the Black who's the size of a mountain and gets smote by the Earendil so hard he takes a trio of volcanoes with him as he dies. (Ancalagon doesn't last long, partly because the War of Wrath section of the Silmarillion is one of the more overview-y sections of the book (as I recall. Which is unfortunate, it sounds like that was one heck of an epic fight, and I'd have loved to see it get the full treatment that Helm's Deep or Pellanor Fields gets.)

Ok so like i don't know how to do glass work and probably wouldn't actually enjoy it but if I am shop keep with a dragon nothing says it's a big one, maybe it's small and like heats glass so I can share it in a more controlled way (I got that idea from an art piece 😅). A bakery dragon would be cool though, my little dragon gets paid in pies which are almost as big as them

If you did the One Piece world that “which role” question would be very interesting. On the one hand if you are an MC it is almost impossible for you to get killed off, but you are 100% guaranteed a horrific backstory. On the other hand if you are a background character you might be fine, but you probably end up living somewhere awful until Luffy shows up. Or Lulucia.

I enjoyed Dean Koontz's pentalogy although only read the first two so far. It isn't about the origins of His Monster but a what if of if his monster kept living and became more of a man with monstrous in him. Hard agree! I don't particularly care for the world of the lord of the rings so I would've taken the other option but the other option is a world where been non white and not male is a death sentence?, No thank you if I'm gonna die better be by dragon or orc or magical creature, for mad scientists I would've gone with maybe A natural history of dragons (MC is not mad in the book but she gets pretty close), Gideon the night (the scientific part wasn't much in the books but those as**les where mad AF) or the two necromancers series that even tho I know is technically fantasy, the necromancy part is very rooted in science and MC has so many screws missing you'll think he will fall apart at any moment

I would choose future sight over elemental magic, on the condition that I’m not living in a deterministic universe - i.e that my visions are of things that might happen, not things that will happen. That way (since I’m the wise wizard) I could use them to provide guidance to the protagonists and help them to avert whatever disasters I’ve foreseen (since, let’s face it, no-one ever sees good things in their prophetic visions). In a deterministic universe prophetic visions would probably be more curse than blessing, but elemental magic wouldn’t make a difference either since our fates would already be sealed.

3) I CHOSE TARDIS!! Yes, I've spent hours thinking about it too... of COURSE I want a TARDIS!!! And I hadn't even *considered* what you said about being able to avoid the chaos without the Doctor there! 😍 4) I reeeeally considered Frankenstein, because it was interesting to think about how that story would turn out if the creature *wasn't* abandoned, but... yeah. Gotta go with magical fantasy world.

5) I love the idea of being the beloved OP side character that gets to chill in the BG through most of the drama, but can show up and save the heroes' tail at key points, then throw out a quip and poof away again. (So, wait... basically The Doctor. Whoops. 😅) 6) THIS ONE. THIS ONE HURT ME MERPH. I so very badly wanted to choose hawk, but hawk & wolf are my 2 favorite animals... then I thought about it, and... in a way, if you combine a wolf(land-based sneaky toothy predator w a tail) with a hawk (bird of prey with talons and great vision)... you kind of get a dragon. Arguably. So that's what I picked.

7) I *absolutely* chose the murderhobo option purely because it IS a fantasy story. IRL, I'd love to have a little shop, with a lovely calm little life, but in fantasyland? ...Getting to con people, show up and improv my way into a party, or position of influence, or vault... or to be the coolest, most elite-level killer just.... sounds. SO. fun.
