This gives me hope. I've had dystonia since 2003. It got worse after accident which was caused by drunk driver. It's a miracle me and my family still here. Even though dealing with pain all time. I will try dancing. It does seem like it help loosen the muscles and get the brain working. It be nice for a cure for dystonia. I've tried massage, ice packs, heat pads, physical therapy and dry needling. It has helped for awhile then comes back again. It also has helped my posture. My neck would want to pull to the right and down. The dry needling would make me sore few days then better with straight neck. Now I've just been trying tiger balm. It has helped relief some pain. I'm glad there is speakers and a form on Facebook for others to connect. It took a year for my doctor to figure out what it was. He studied about it. We are not alone in this God has a purpose for us and we should do our best. I use to play the guitar at church unable to. I like to draw and music helps me to relax.

You're amazing! You give me hope. I was diagnosed with CD in May 2024. You're so right. Doctors really don't understand, and the medication does not work. I hope you're still dancing and being awesome! God bless you ❤

Thank you so much for putting yourself out there! Because of your post on KZfaq I met Joaquin Farais, expanded on the exercises he recommended, and am excited to say that my posture is changing so rapidly that I am feeling empowered in a way I never felt before. Dystonia is 100% reversible!!! I have survived it for 60 years and feel like I am gaining control of my body as well as mind. Thank you so very much and I wish you the best. My Dystonia was a symptom of PTSD and ADD. My goal is to do a Ted Talk to share the specifics of how I found healing during the 2020 pandemic without drugs, or any other help, but rather by applying every thing I have learned in life during my isolation. Thank you!!

This video is a great inspiration for me because I love to dance and I still love it I was diagnosed with dystonia last year and it was hard for me. Being so depressed, not being able to do anything. People staring, I didn't even want to leave my home. Looking up so many stories with people with dystonia is so inspirational until I ran into this one and he's a dancer just like me and that fill my heart up with so much hope. You can tell his smile his body position he loves it and that's his treatment and I want that to be my treatment so this is the greatest video I've ever seen and this is my inspiration. Thank you

Fight!!! I found this video when I started to recover. Seeing this man smiling while he danced made me want to do the same even tho I always thought dancing was silly. In time I started to realize how easy it was to give in to the compulsion to move correctly when music played! Now I’m starting to notice a background soundtrack playing in my mind where there was just dystonic noise before. It helps me dance through my whole day even if it takes the form of normal movement! Its also become a lot easier to talk about the condition so I started to say things in public like “im sorry that came out kinda weird and I need to learn to use my voice right, let me try again” and taking away the embarrassment has really left the disease pretty powerless. If you still struggle with wanting to hide away I’d really suggest telling a stranger what’s going on. When you realize they don’t hate you it’s a lot easier to be around others and what I’ve seen is that a lot of people are so inspired that it’s something I like to share now! About a month ago I was picking up a delivery that a kid handed to me overhead. “You got it?” He said as I struggled to get my arm up clumsily. “Oh year Ive got it! This shoulder didn’t use to work but I changed that!” “What? Really?” “Yeah dude anything is possible 😉”. The next time I grabbed something overhead it was much easier because I remember this good experience instead of the dysfunctional times I’ve tried to reach in the past. Its allowed me to turn the worst thing thats ever happened to me into something that actually inspires me daily to keep pushing. It all works together. Hoping there’s something you find useful here you will recover too!

I am happy for Federico. A few years ago I attended jazzercise classes (dancing/exercise) and found that while dancing my symptoms disappeared, but when dancing was over they came back. Have been getting botox for a long time and have decided since November 2016 to try to go without botox. My head wants to turn to the right and not the left so I am trying to train my brain by turning with difficulty to the left. Perhaps dancing at home will help in the long run for me even when the music has stopped. Thank you for the video.

This video has been so helpful to me. I was just starting to figure out how to use my body in new ways using music to reduce the full body electrical storm into something I could tolerate. In time I could walk normally with music on… I saw you dancing and I realized tho I’d never been a dancer my body wanted to do something new when music played… it wanted to dance through life! I managed to do a push-up and ran to the gym to get a membership. I started weightlifting again and notice the urge to dance when music comes on turning into the compulsion to move normally! Like you, I discover new things daily, and wonder if this condition isn’t so treatable I might call it cured one day. I see nothing but hope for patients with dystonia! In the gym, I’m not sick. Sometimes I walk pretty funny but there’s nothing to laugh at when your easily lifting over 300lbs with a movement disorder 😃

I suspect it's the equilibrium getting as much exercise as we can, that gives us a base of stability for the rest of the neurological system to build on. The equilibrium problem doesn't get any talk about it. I bet everyone with dystonia will agree, it's the biggest battle we don't even think about or talk about. I think it's core to the relearning process. We get pulled more crooked without the balance of the equilibrium working. Brother Insights Chi Gong exercises work excellent for me.

That's super cool. Sometimes what may happen is that certain food will suddenly become irritating your immune system that will be creating certain antibodies that will be attacking your nervous system, and one symptom of it can be the unexplainable need to move your arms or head or whatever. It may happen with Milk products or gluten mainly (also prolamine protein in all grains). When not eating those products, the sensation from the nervous system can completely disappear. (I've read it somewhere)
