Jen Luvs Reviews you should be! I started watching you when the whole Tati pill thing happened and after watching you break down every ingredient in those pills, it really made me admire you. My husband watches your live chats with me every Sunday morning on our TV. He even told me to buy the norvina pallet one time because he said it felt more “pigmented” than the Huda jewel tones pallet. When I asked him how he knew that word and what it meant he’s like “I pay attention when we watch jens live chats” 😂 sending lots of love from my family to yours! Thank you for everything you do :)

My Modern Renaissance palette looks like it's been tossed out of a car window into a mud puddle, picked up by a pack of wolves to be used as a chew toy, stolen by a legion of badgers who buried it and then recovered by a group of grubby forest gnomes who returned it to me but only after trying out a few shades for themselves. It makes me realize how much of a trash person I am and how horribly rough I am on makeup 😐

This is one of the best beauty videos that I’ve ever seen! I really appreciate your meticulous research and your objectivity. I wish everyone included information about ingredients in their reviews - so helpful! I have all the palettes except for Mario and Subculture. I’m fair skinned with a neutral to cool undertone and hazel/brown eyes. My least favorite is the soft glam because I feel like it’s a bit too warm for me. Same with the more orangey tones in MR, but I love the red/berry colors - ABH was a trailblazer in including those. Now everyone has berry-toned palettes but I don’t think many companies were doing those before MR came out. I’m loving Norvina and Sultry - so happy to see some cooler-toned palettes! I love your channel - keep up the AMAZING work!

From someone who owns the Subculture and MR as well as several Juvia’s Place palettes, the formulas feel different. The ABH shadows are softer yet the Juvia’s Place are just as metallic and pigmented. I have to baby the ABH shadows whereas I can dig in with my brushes into the JP.I love all of the palettes I have from JP (Magic, Saharan, Saharan 2, and Douce). One thing to note is that I have no irritation using regular old eyeshadow primer or creamy pencil as a base with ABH but I do have to use a mixing medium or glitter primer with JP . I’m thinking that the JP shimmers fall off into my eye over time and irritate it. I do have sensitive eyes that suffer from seasonal allergies and cannot use most low end eyeshadows. This is a great idea and I would love to see Jen’s take :)

I have all 6 of the "newest" I'm not surprised by the similarities. I did swatch comparisons after I got soft glam & I was shocked. I think had there not been such a WTF/ Why/horrible reaction to subculture I think ABH would've went in a different direction. I love Subculture but don't get me wrong there is flaws. But people want something "innovative" but when it's given they don't like it, or why didn't they do this, or why are they trying to do something different etc so instead ABH stays with what they're known for: Beautiful shadows, great lasting power, amazing pigment & everyday wear with a couple pops of color. Prisim wasn't perceived as well as their other palettes as well. It's a fun unique palette with great combos & is a beautiful companion palette (as is all ABH palettes). But after M.R I don't think no matter what they do they'll out grow the innovation, inspiring, wow factor as it had on the market. I think that's what they want (why wouldn't they lol)is another omg palette as M.R but things like that usually don't come around twice. I think they should go back to the subculture drawing board & brainstorm ideas around another "wow factor" palette.

I've learned A bunch watching you talk about the ingredients and the formula and seeing where the "problem child" is lol I'm not really sure why the way you do it is any different then watching someone else but I get a ton of information watching these and it really does help me to decide where to place my money when purchasing products. My softglam pallete is soo dirty on the outside, but I love it too much to care about the crappy material lol. I'm neutral girl lover and there was just something that spoke to me. Like you said it's very feminine and classy. Not only the color story, but the quality of the shadows. They blend so well with the right amount of pigment. My only complaint is that glistening and fairy are too similar. I wish they would have put a different color. Maybe another brown?

Jen, you just saved me $42 right here -> 6:20 The one palette I was leaning toward buying was Norvina, and I am super sensitive to bismuth oxychloride. It never would have crossed my mind that a brand like ABH would use a cheapo ingredient like that, so I'd never considered if that would be an issue for me. Thanks a million for the work you do... now back to the video.

The only palettes I’ve tried from ABH are the Prism and Subculture(got them for a really great price at TjMaxx) and I really enjoy those palettes. I love the color story on both of them and I find they’re easy to work with if you take your time and build the color up as to jumping right into full pigmentation!! I’ve been eyeing the MR and SG so this video was extremely helpful. You did such a great job on this!! Mad love, Jen!!🖤😘 xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

When you covered up thee pink in the Sultry palette, my automatic thought was "Looks like UD Naked 2". And several brands have come out with a dupe for the Naked 2 alone. Still gorgeous colors because the shimmers stand out so much, but I could just buy a Naked 2 dupe if I wanted it.

Taylor Williams I was a mega dupe palette person for years, but there's a few high end brands that have things that are worth the splurge (IMO), and the ABH Sultry palette definitely is. The formula is so easy to work with and the lasting power is insane. It also makes my lids look smoother, if that's important to you. 😁

I so wish ABH would reformulate subculture, I adore the shades but I don’t want to pay that much for a palette that doesn’t preform and is being discontinued. In general I won’t buy limited edition palettes because if feels like the company is more interested in people picking up the palette because it’s new and have FOMO than people buying it because it’s gotten great reviews over a longer period of time.

The one I liked the best, based on this video, is the Sultry palette. That’s the one I own. So, yay! However, I have been going back and forth regarding the Norvina palette since it launched. When I look at the palette I want it. When I look at the swatches I don’t want it. Ultimately, they say it’s limited edition. If/when it goes out of stock will I regret not buying it? Eyeshadow palette stress. Lol.

IKR?? I didn't realize it's limited edition, but I bought Sultry when I had the chance because I know Bad Habit has a decent dupe for Norvina at least. I love purples so much, though... but I feel like Sultry is a better/updated version of Naked 2, which I used like crazy back in the day. My favorite shade was Verve (I liked it so much I still remember the name) and Sultry looks like it has something similar but with more shimmer... can't wait till my order of it comes in :D

@@NickaLah I own the Bad Habit Norvina dupe ("Luna"), and it's honestly amazing. My perfect ABH palette would probably be a cross between Norvina and Sultry because I like cool-tones and purples, but I also like to have more options for deepening the look in the outer corners and lash line; Norvina has my favorite color story; Sultry has the deeper colors I crave!

I personally like the bad habit dupes for these pallets more then the originals. The formula isn’t the same but it’s still good and the price is unbeatable. They also have dupes for pallets that aren’t available anymore. I know some people have a problem with exact dupes but it’s a matter of affording the pallet.

Eryn Desher I personally find retro love to be one of their worst dupe palettes. Overall it’s ok, but some shades are definitely patchy and for me lift up if I try blown out blending versus a pack and slight blend technique. I would go for their Norvina dupe or even check out their original palette Pretty Poison.

The main reason I love ABH eyeshadow so much is how quickly they blend out on the eyes. I spend most of my time perfecting my base so by the time I get to eyeshadow I want something that is going to blend easily and quickly. That being said, I have been tempted to try the subculture dupe, as that one is the farthest thing from a easy blend, but the colour story is very beautiful and unique. Also, the Tarte April Fools joke palette they remade looks awesome!

I agree, please ABH do it, come on you can do it baby! Haha xD No but seriously, I agree, I love the SG and MR palette and even though they are mostly warm you can achieve some cooler toned looks with it. I can wear both warm and cool toned shadows, but I prefer shadows that are neutral toned. But if I have to choose between very warm shadows to taupy/grey/cool dark brown colors I do prefer the latter :) So if ABH would come out with a good neutral palette that also have shades that are very cool toned, where maybe 4 of all the shades in the palette are shimmery/metallic and the rest matte shades, and the 4 shimmers in the palette consists of 2 very cool toned shimmers and 2 neutral toned shimmers, to compliment the matte shades. Need one shimmer to be silver. Simply a neutral/cool toned palette (with no warm shades, just neutrals and cool) I would purchase it, and travel to wherever they stock their palettes and get it myself before they have even packaged it to send to my home...thank you so much. I agree she was close with the Sultry, I was eyeing that and considering, but I decided not to. It isn't fully there in terms of what I'm after, but close as you say, there are beautiful shades in there...I just don't understand where the coral/pink shade came from, was it an accident? It looks misplaced in that palette IMO. As another lady says here, I also wish they had chosen some sort of lilac shade or something similar to that, instead of that coral shade. I will wait ABH....I have hope, there are so many warm/neutral toned palettes out there on the market now. Maybe we should all e-mail ABH about it?? :) Hahah xx

I was one of the lucky people who was able to pick up the Black Friday 4-palette set (MR, Soft Glam, Subculture, Prism), and I have had Subculture itself for about a month on its own (got it from a TJ Max). I really wish Sultry or Norvina was included in the deal, but I get they are still pretty new to do that. Though, honestly, I don’t like how you kept calling Sultry “boring” and “everyday” just because it was browns and grays. I’m a performer and cool tones in the crease, but super dark and heavy, with a silver on the lid with some glitter, is my bread and butter. That’s not boring just because it isn’t a pop of color. Of the 6 palettes, I am most interested in trying out Soft Glam because it seems to be everyone’s favorite. I missed the MR trend, I was away from makeup and wasn’t into the beauty community yet when that hit big, so I didn’t see the wave of reviews/tutorials on it. But I did hear it references for SO LONG! Then Soft Glam was released and everyone talked about how they liked it better because it was a bit easier to use, or a bit more “regular” because it wasn’t as red. Reds were fun, but the browns and mustard-based colors were easier to work into looks. Top gurus all the way down to small channels. I am interested to see if I feel the same way. Also, question! You rearranged the palettes to help demonstrate similarities, and I have seen a few other people in videos show rearranged ABH palettes. Is it an easy process? Is it as easy as just prying them up? Do you need to heat them or worry about them falling out, or is it magnetic? As a serial depot-ter I think rearranging might help me keep the palettes in their rightful place for a bit longer.

Excited to see which one is calling to me the hardest by the end of this video. 🥰 ETA: Gosh, honestly this video has almost made me want to try a palette from a new brand and skip all of these. I own Modern Renaissance (so definitely skipping Soft Glam and Sultry) and I really wanted Norvina for the reasons you mentioned (feminine colors, unique color story), but I’m worried about the softness of the shadows given how much I travel. Idk. Gonna look in your past reviews for your other recommended palettes. 💜

If the color story appeals to you I HIGHLY recommend checking out Sydney Grace’s new palette, Autumn’s Reign. It’s their first palette but is comprised of their single shadows, which are incredible. If I had to stick with a single brand of shadow for the rest of my life SG would be it. As a bonus 25% of palette sales till the end of the year is going to the victims of the Paradise fires. (SG owners actually live there & were themselves evacuated, but their homes thankfully escaped any damage.) Another recent favorite of mine that I’d highly recommend is Nomad Cosmetics Berlin Underground, &it’s an absolutely amazing value. I’ve been REALLY enjoying mine & would definitely recommend checking it out as well.
