Thanks for using a big bike on this. I ride a 26" that's 25:10 gearing, could use more top speed but it does make hills easier to climb.

I have 29inch big ripper I’m running 15 tooth origin 8 freewheel and 36 tooth knightbikeco 2 piece sprocket 180mm profile cranks and I’m running big ass flat pedals from pedaling innovation with thick slicks and let me tell you I’m hella fast one of the fastest on the ride outs love the content this video was hella informative

Best 20 inch gear ratio calculator for ordering online is “divide the sprocket from the rear wheel and keep that number close to 2.77” that’s a standard gear ratio 25/9. I ride 28/9 so mines 3.11. The higher the number the harder it is to pedal. The lower the number the easier but you can’t go as fast.

I got a klunker 26" from retrospect it's 46:16 bringing to 43:16 i imagine from watching this and what I've read that it should give me a good start while not losing so much speed

Changed to 30:13 on my 29 inch GT street performer.. works amazing for wheelies & still have enough rolling speed for cruising ...

On my cult 29er I ran a bsd 28 tooth with cranks 175mm left 13 tooth in back stock. Took me to 58 gear inches instead of stock 62 was ruff were I live some hills to work.

Front sprocket \ rear cog x wheel diameter = gear inches. That’s how far the bike goes in one pedal revolution. 44x16 is most common for BMX 20”. 32x15 would be about the same for a 26”. 32x17 for a 29er. I use 32x16 or 2:1 on my 26”.

Is there any way to put a 49t on a 29er? I ride long distance on mainly flat trails and roads. I like the fixie/single style, but not a fan of the skinny wheels and tires. Any advice on custom crank setup… Bike is a 29in Throne

I have a GT Pro 29" it came with a 39-16 it was harder than Hell to pedal so i went to 30-16 i live in Vegas where we ride is some flat and little incline and 30-16 is great if you have bad knees like me

I know this sounds wild.. but on my 29 the most beautiful gearing i have found yet is a 30 / 15. I will NEVER switch to anything else. I have an easy to reach decent top end but cruising and wheelies are SO easy.

If im buying a Sunday model c 24” and measure 1.80m and weight 200 pounds what gear ratio and length of the pedals should i get? It’s meant to be used for commuter from home to work, there are a few hills in town but not too big, also what mass should i get if i want front and back pegs. I’d appreciate the help. I just got that same bike today. I tried to wheelie it and can't even get the wheel off the ground. It said on the website it's got a 10 t cassette and 25 T sprocket. Do I need to change it?

Just get a 20 inch. Most likely your not gonna be doing all that much on a 24 inch to justify changing ratio etc

May I know what is the different between big chainring with big cog vs small chainring with small cog. Example: 44t:16= 2.75 & 25t : 9= 2.77 . Is it big chainring/cog can last longer and small chainring/cog give more space to perform stunt?

I have a CrewBike CB29....It is murder going up hills..It has 33t chainring and a 15t freewheel....What gears should I try and where would I buy them from? I live in Las Vegas and some hills around where I live are too steep. I would like a lighter feel. Speed is not of the essence, just slow cruising. I emailed CrewBike many times but they never ever answer me. Maybe you guys can give me some advice please.

I've ridden 28/14 on my flatland bike! ;D There really isn't any certain right or wrong gear ratio as long as it works for whatever you're doing.

I’ve had this bike for months wouldn’t recommend it to anyone that’s trying to wheelie with it brakes aren’t good for that and you can’t replace the brakes bc the holders are welded on the wrong side then usual wheelie bikes

Tire size is part of gearing. I can tell a 1.95 from a 2.1 So is crank length. I can tell 175 from 170 Same applies to cars. I've blown hotrods out of the water by putting small tires on a grocery getter, simply because no one realizes tire diameter is part of the gearing equation!
