Hartung Family Farms is a farming operation out of Jackson and Clinton County Iowa, with our main farm located in Preston Iowa. We have around 2400 acres of corn, soybeans, alfalfa, rye, and oats as well as around 750 head of cattle. We have a wide range of International equipment from small tractors from the 1970s to newer large farm tractors!

I say 1066 is the most classic/iconic IH tractor of all numbered models. Some folks might say 806, or 5488? I'll bet most say 1066 though.

My dad had a 1206 and that is what I learned on. He now has an 866 and a 1066. Three classic IH tractors on our farm. It doesn’t get much better than that. Nice video!!

I used to work on a farm that had pretty much all the fields work custom done so the only tractor we had was a 1066 for mixing feed and hauling some manure. I do kinda miss that tractor. It was a very handy tractor to have around

When I first started filling silo, we had an M running wagons and a 560 on the blower. Most operations use much bigger and faster equipment today. It would take us (2 guys) 5-6 days to fill the silo.

Those are so cool to see in action! I know they are running like 120hp but wondering if they aren't a bit light on the frontend pulling those full forage trailers, especially up & down those hills.

I am wondering why they dis-connect the P.T.O. shaft when filling?....I have seen this before in other vid's where tractors are used to pull silage wagons....Thanks
@HartungFamilyFarms
@HartungFamilyFarms 5 жыл бұрын
Great question! When we are done filling, we always disconnect our PTO shaft. As far as the exact reason, I've never asked and I am sure there is a reason. My best guess is we are going over some rough terrain very fast and it doesn't take long to unhook it. So we do just to not take any chances
@klwarhouse
@klwarhouse 4 жыл бұрын
If the self unloader wagon articulates to far from the tractor, left, right, going down sharp inclines. The pto shaft can pull apart, dropping the wagon side to the ground. Normally causing damage to the shaft.

Idk why some farmers buy super expensive new tractors to just haul hay and or silage when an older cheap high power tractor can do it you may not get a comfy cab but you don’t notice it when it’s a nice sunny day and the coal is blocking out the sun
