Chopping Corn Silage near Dalton Ohio | New Holland FX60 Chopper & Fendt Tractors.
In this video I am out at a dairy farm near Dalton Ohio as they are chopping corn silage. In the video they are chopping corn with their New Holland FX60 Self Propelled Forage Harvester with an 8 row corn head. Running beside the chopper they are running their Fendt 714 & 718 tractors both pulling Meyer Silage Wagon and back at the silage pile they are running their Fendt 927 tractors and blade to push and pack the silage. The Fendt 927 tractor in this video had the optional reversible operator station.
I shot this video in September of 2023 near Dalton Ohio.

Mike, here in England there are loads of reverse drive fendts and valtras. Used with triple mowers on the back a lot in reverse drive mode and for running pto wood chippers where the operator turns his seat to run the crane. Also for forestry mulchers reverse drive is common

The reversible seat is a nice feature😉👍 A farm near me has a 936 with a reversible seat, they run triple mowers on the back of it. The black fendt is called a "black beauty" over here😁👍 Thanks for the video Mike👍👍

My wife worked at a Fendt tractor dealership when we were younger,(1970’s), she said there were very few warranty claims on them, they are a great tractor. Regards from Down Under.

It sort of makes sense that Fendt has a rotating operator station because Valtra has had them for years and both are AGCO companies.

That’s a impressive set up with the Fendt tractors and Newholland chopper. The Fendt on the pit makes short work of the trailers load, they unload quick. Another great video Mike. Do you ever get people farmers not wanting you filming?

As always mike another great video. Nice to still see some of the old harvesters still in use yet today. I never knowed you could reverse the seat in a FENDT TRACTOR that is a nice feature tho.thanks mike for all the hard work you put into these videos . I watch a lot of farming videos and never knew about that Fendt with the rotating operators seat. Sure makes hooking up and using a silage blade quick and no doubt, a lot less money to do as well. Pretty cool to see that NH chopper too.

Nice find on the NH chopper. They own the pull type chopper market but fewer of them being used every year. All self propelled Claas and Deere here now. Never seen a self propelled NH in the field here.

Fendt and Valtra have had a reverse station option for a long time now, not sure what Fendt calls theirs but on a Valtra it's called Twin Trac

Would it be unusual to see so many Fendt tractors on the same farm in America? From watching KZfaq there doesn't seem to be too many of them over there, they are quite popular here in Ireland with contractors, we have one ourselves along with four Deutz tractors. The New Holland FX silage harvesters would also be reasonably popular over here. Interesting video.

There is a really strong Fendt dealer in this area and you see quite a few on the farms here.

I've known that Fendt has tractors that you can turn the seat around. It's in the Farming Simulator 22 game.

Valtra (also AGCO) offers reverse station, or at least they did. MTZ (Belarus) was another. Kind of disappointed it isn't offered by more US manufacturers and that it isn't available on smaller machines. I think Fendt only offers it on the 900 series. Something in the 150 hp range to run a snowblower, disc conditioner, brush hog (Schulte has one), or 2-3 stage forklift would be nice.

Those Fendt reversable seats have been around for a few years at least. In 2014/15 I saw one in Austria with a big snowblower on the back doing winterwork clearing streets in the Alps. The type of blower apparently being to big/heavy to fit the front.

That you are able to rotade the drivers seat, might be an option they have taken from Valtra. That’s quite common here in europe, on tractor that are used with a logging trailer equipped with a crane. Quite useful actually, and i think Fendt should try to sell more of it in north america. It also comes with some kind of joystick steering, if i remember correctly. 👍

The Valtra might the fendts I’ve driven the whole seat and steering wheel, terminal and pedals turn around so you have exactly the same setup forwards as backwards

Did you know that Deutz Fahr has a similar option to the Fendt . The Deutz Fahr however, differs in that the entire cab rotates 180 degrees

What year might that NH chopper be? Rotary heads look like nothing recent. Plus, the angle on the blower is quite unique.

I used to pick up hardwood loads in Rockland WI, I seen more Deutz and Fendt tractors in that area than anywhere else in the US. as fare the reverse driving Fendt's, I thought that was an available feature in the US just like the front 3 point/hydraulics/pto.

Just a harmless question. When the wagons are going over the top anyway, why do they unload them at the bottom instead of at or near the top? Can't the tractors pull them that far? Great video Mike.

Good question and there are a couple reasons that come to my mind, they dump at the base of the silage hill so that the tractor packing the hill with the blade can spread out the silage more evenly and pack it with the weight of the tractor. You want it packed as tight as possible because any air pockets in the silage can cause the silage to rot over time or create frozen areas during the winter. ------ Also traction when climbing the silage hill is a factor to a degree, if you look here @ 11:30 you can see where the tractor tires started digging into the soft silage , as the wagon empties and gets lighter in weight then its easier to climb the hill with the silage wagon. Dumping the silage at the bottom and spreading up the hill works well and its less wear and tear on equipment.

I think its been thing for a 30 or more years. Almost every valtra that pulls forest wagons has it. There is few of them here in finland

Pulling onto pile is fun but i cant stand the amount of dirt it adds to the feed! Stupid to have an extremely expensive push tractor that barely has to push anything.

you know you're catch some flack from the locals for not pronouncing Dalton correctly. you have to think "dallas" when you say the name of the town!! but as usual great video keep'em coming

Yes I noticed the locals pronounce it differently than everyone else
