Marlane Kelly they’re not using midi, you can tell this is a DJ melody. They were just having trouble with the midi that he created and quantizing it on the mpc

bro took lessons for like 9 years, you're not going to just be able to freestyle melodies that's not how it works. Your best bet is to learn 2 scales starting out, 1 major and 1 minor, find two that a very comfortable. From there if you are trying to produce you can simply transpose your chords/melodies to the keys you want.
