Chozen's New Role in Cobra Kai Season 3 Explained

Cobra Kai season 3 is amongst us! Post production is done! Now we await the trailer. I think Chozen will be in Season 3 of Cobra Kai because of Daniel's trip to Okinawa. He could be a voice of reason for him in this time of darkness after Robby almost killed Miguel. Cobra Kai is back in full power at the hands of Kreese, so I wonder who else might join the ranks...
Could Johnny and Daniel join forces?

I definitely can see this happening, but here’s my issue. Yes Sato had a burning rage in him, but saw the light and learned to accept hate is wrong. Revenge is wrong. But Chozen was a different situation. Daniel not only beat him soundly, but denied him the honor of death rather than living with this defeat, and THEN absolutely disgraced him with the honk of the nose rather than that honorable death. I just can’t see Chozen being too happy to see Daniel ever again. I guess it’s all going to depend on whether or not Sato accepted Chozen back and over time Sato was able to get through to Chozen and when he sees Daniel he will beg for forgiveness. If that’s the case, I wouldn’t be surprised if Kumiko is married to Chozen now. There are so many different paths to go down it’s crazy

As a series, the overall story can be expanded without having to cram it into the theater friendly 90-120 minute time frame. I assume there is less studio interference as well.

This should be the final season as it really is the third act. Johnny succeeding in season 1. Everything turning to crap in season 2 and the grand finale should be season 3.

I think Kreese is gonna get to Robbie. He is physically trying to be a Miyagi student but mentally we see he instinctly fights like a Cobra. I also like the idea of Johnny trying to get his son out of what he created

I think Robby joining Cobra Kai would be the only reason Johnny would have to go up against Kreese. Cuz... In s2 ending he definitely had given up on Cobra Kai and his students

@Evan Koch funny thing is if that incident was real life, seeing a Japanese lose to a foreigner like that would have made the entire village feel loss of face and they would have all United with chozen against Daniel. I lived in Asia for four years on and off and I know how their mentality is. If KK2 was real life, Daniel would have never gotten away with almost anything he did. Like at that bar when Daniel punched chozen in the groin. The moment Daniel was thrown onto the ground. The entire bar would have dropped everything they were doing and sided with chozen before Daniel could do anything. Also, kumiko would have lost honor and face for siding with Daniel or even having anything to do with him to begin with as a potential love interest. Japanese girls, especially in remote areas get a bad reputation if they are seen with a foreigner. Hollywood Japan is very different from real life Japan. You being a foreigner would affect you in ways you would never expect.

@@MsOrchid143 I know. But when I went out to that part of the world in my early 20s I had a rude awakening when I learned all this. And it was then when I realized I was influenced by movies more than I realized. That is why I point it out. Also someone made a vid criticizing daniel in kk3 saying that taking a bonzai tree out of japan is illegal and all that. So why not criticize the person who made that vid?

@Evan Koch Yes but the thing is even though chozen was known for what he was, it doesn't mean that they want to see one of their own lose to a foreigner. Especially in an honor fight. Japanese don't have an individual mindset. They think colle lively that way. Most Asians do. And in the part where Daniel exposed chozen when he was using fake weights, though he may have had that whole crowd look down on him then, Daniel would've had bigger problems long before the fight at the end of the movie. Chozen could go and have his odd couple buddies get however many locals they could and later that same evening Daniel would have a mob after him. In the movie, Daniel stood up for himself a couple times. But in real life, a foreigner cannot stand up for himself in a country like Japan. You will get into serious trouble if you do. Even if you are the victim.

Chozen shouldnt be a problem for danial after all when he told kyler he got his sushie knife on his first trip to okinawa that means he's been there more then once Chozen may not like danial or he may be willing to be friends but never the less seeing Chozen will not afect danials life.

I noticed Jessica didn't show up to the final tournament Daniel had to fight Mike Barnes just like Allie was there for him in KKid Part 1.

I was going to say that as well. I think there would be a correlation made, if Chozen is in Season 3, between him and Sato. In terms of how they would react to an old grudge. Granted, Sato felt dishonored because Miyagi wanted to marry the woman who was arranged to marry Sato himself. So the difference here is Chozen would want revenge after his humiliation in Okinawa. So I would say that Chozen would more than gladly do whatever is in his power to hurt Daniel, if not kill him. Could he see the error in his ways? Possibly. The show does a really great job writing about the characters in their adulthood, and I can see Chozen possibly understanding where he was wrong. But at the same time, it wouldn't be too far from his character to manipulate and put on a show to get closer to Daniel and destroy him. Kreese was shown to have never changed, so Chozen possibly didn't either. This doesn't mean the tables won't turn, however.

Guys after losing his honor, Chosen left to be with his father in Hawaii, who was a surfing legend Johnny Tsunami, Chosen got married, had a son, and became a program developer. Chozen then moved to Vermont with his son who then become a Urchin snowboarding legend ironically called Johnny Tsunami like his grand father.

Chosen would be a far better entry as a brand new threat to Daniel....Remember in Chosen's eyes Daniel destroyed his honor. It would be better suited for a season 4 storyline. Chosen find Daniel and will stop at nothing to destroy him once and for all restoring his version of honor.

i love the cobra kai series!!! can't wait for season 3! a few cool things i'd love to see: 1) the return of Dutch (Chad McQueen) 2) some fights between the Karate Kid villains. Johnny vs Mike Barnes. Johnny vs Chosen. Dutch vs Johnny (I always thought Dutch was the best Cobra Kai. He could prove it!). 3) the return of Allie (Elizabeth Shue)

i kind of want it to be barnes...daniel ..johnny...vs Chozen...silver...kreese. its just why would Chozen be on daniel side when he tried to kill daniel. and barnes wasnt really against daniel...he was paid to be against daniel....plus barnes owns 70 percent of cobra kai remember silver and barnes deal they made? id rather Chozen and barnes to switch places..plus i want to see johnny fight Chozen

Barnes imo was the most skilled of all and would make a better matchup against Chozen. Lots of different scenarios to consider which is what makes this series interesting.

@@jackl.416 I dunno I always thought Barnes was good at tournament fights but out in the open chozen would've taken them all accept miyagi. Cuz chozen did that demonstration in part 2 and took out all of those students he was teaching. This series is the only time we got to see Johnny fight more than one person and the only time we see Daniel actually know shit lol. Cuz part 3 with Barnes..Barnes put fear into Daniel that's why Daniel didn't know what to do til the end. So as far as what we know about Barnes..Johnny and Daniel when it comes to skill..I'm putting chozen as the tip dawg.

It would be disappointing if Chozen DIDN’T grow from this encounter. Where would that loss leave him? In an extreme case, he would have so much shame that he would kill himself. But let’s say that doesn’t happen. Let’s say Uncle Sato decides to show his prized pupil what went wrong and make it his mission to turn Chozen around. And let’s say he succeeds. People do learn. His uncle’s opinion did mean a lot to Chozen. Maybe instead of shame, Chozen would come to realize that Daniel gave him the gift of life by not killing him and he even comes to view that he owes Daniel a debt. That could be how they come together, with Chozen completely reformed.

Cobra Kai-Zer Soze I really doubt that. With all this success, short length of episodes and small number of episodes? They can make more 3 or 4 seasons easily.

I'm glad that finally someone came up with a creative theory instead of focusing on return of the original movie characters. Miguel's dad would make a great add up to the story, maybe he tries to win Miguel's custidy by blaming his mom for what happened to him. This way Carmen probably forgives Johnny sooner than expected.

So much time has passed since Karate Kid 2... I could see Chozen being much wiser and humble having been so humiliated and dishonored in front of his people. I don’t think that he and Daniel could ever truly be friends... but I would love to see them just have a heart to heart moment where we see Chozen’s growth as a man of honor and have him apologize to Daniel as it’s something he has always wanted to do , so that he can be at peace and do the one thing he has left to regain his honor.

here are my thoughts on what they "could" do with this story, with where the characters are right now: Johnny Lawrence: no students, no dojo... we see Johnny all alone again, just as he was at the beginning of the series. in order to see that character develop, Johnny needs to apply the very thing he tried to teach his students: move forward, never say no. He needs to move forward and not quit. Start a new dojo, his way, his rules, strike first, strike hard, and HONOR. Be the teacher he needs to be for his students, and show them what the new Cobra Kai is, and what Cobra Kai needs to be John Kreese: old dojo, new students... with this, we will be able to see just how dark John Kreese can make Cobra Kai, develop the dojo moreso than what we saw in the movies... still, character wise, we need to see his backstory more, where he came from, what the military did to him, what he saw while he was in the military... what exactly made Kreese into the man we see him today, and how his life shaped him into what he believes today Daniel Larusso: no more Miyagi-Do, no more students... all throughout both of these seasons, Daniel has forgotten one important lesson Myiagi tried to teach him: BALANCE. this season showed us that he has no balance in his life: marriage crumbling, no relationship with his son, rocky ground with his daughter, and barely any support from his wife. Daniel has been doing this alone for both seasons, and he has just about given up on Miyagi-Do... we need to see him dig deep into what Migayi-Do means to Daniel again, get in touch with those roots... plus, the Amanda character needs to see why Miyagi-Do is so important in Daniel's life, what it has taught him, what it means to him, how it changed his life into making him a better person... these events and situations can help her understand her husband better, and encourage him in his desire to teach his students and be the best Sensei he can be... in return, Daniel needs to learn that he must balance both his Dojo and his marriage together, that he cant do one and forget the other... that he must find the balance between the two, so that he can show his wife the love that she desires from him, so she knows that he is there for her and her life no matter what may happen, and that he is there for his students in whatever trial they may face Cobra Kai VS Miyagi-Do i dont want to see Johnny & Daniel vs Kreese... the foundation of the show is the rivalry between Daniel and Johnny, and they need to keep it that way... yes, there is black and white, but there are also grey shades in there, too... i think there should be mutual footing and understanding between the two, but there should always be a rivalry between the two. there need to be two Cobra Kai dojos: one with Kreese, and one with Johnny... two dojos, head to head, snake vs snake- one with honor, the other "no mercy"- both with one idea in mind: take out Miyagi-Do. Not only does this give tension between both Cobra dojos, this also creates more tension for Miyagi-Do, backing Daniel up into a corner, just like in The Karate Kid, when Daniel was backed up behind a fence, when Johnny Lawrence and his gang ganged up against Daniel, and almost killed him... up until Mr. Miyagi stepped in and stopped the fight... maybe they could introduce a character to be that figurative "Mr. Miyagi" to stop the fight, and help Daniel find that balance... more on that later... **possible characters to introduce** Ali Mills Schwarber introduce her as how she used to be... maybe she had trouble with her husband, she gets a divorce, and now she's moving back to California to go back to her roots... meets up with Johnny again, but keeps her distance from him, still thinking he's the same Johnny... however, as she spends time with Johnny, she starts to see that he is a different man, a better man, moving forward, cuting off his ties with those who hurt him, and helping those who need it... she sees who he really is, and she starts to encourage him, support him, help him build what has been taken from him by Kreese... plus, introducing this character would also bring conflict with Daniel Larusso, bringing more conflict into his life, undoing the balance he is trying to find... Chozen the figurative "Mr. Miyagi"... after the events in The Karate Kid Part II, Chozen lives an estranged life, searching for his balance, in the end, coming to realize that Mr. Miyagi and Sato found that balance, the balance that he so desperately needed... in return he reforms his ways, doing exactly what Daniel expresses in season 2 "people can change"... in his past we could learn that he finds his uncle again, and pleads to take him back, showing all of Sato's life that he has changed, he has reformed, regaining the trust of the village, helping the village for 20 years, protecting the village, teaching Miyagi-Do to all whom wish to learn, trying to show his uncle he has changed... sadly, Sato never takes him back in, and when Sato dies, Chozen makes a promise over his uncle's body, he will do whatever he must to redeem himself. He looks up Daniel to see where he is, and seeks him out... he finds Daniel and sees that his life is about to be ruined. Daniel, remembering his fight, refuses to trust him... Chozen must earn the trust and respect of Daniel to show that he truly has changed, and his only desire is to undo everything that he has did... the last thing to undo is the pain and hurt he has caused to Daniel... this creates tension between the two, but healing tension, as while Chozen has changed his life, Daniel is still struggling to find balance.. throughout the season, we see both Daniel and Chozen form a bond between the two, not sensei and student, but brother and brother, a friend and reminder to Daniel that "anyone can change" and that it is possible to find balance in life... with two Cobra Kai dojos fighting against Miyagi-Do, it would be a fighting chance to introduce Chozen, or a character like Chozen to even the odds, and Develop Daniel into the husband he needs to be for his wife, and the sensei he needs to be for his students other possible plot points: i think it would be helpful to temporarily remove the character Amanda from the show... no divorce, just a simple temporary separation... have her visit the Oki Nawa village instead of Daniel, to visit Mr. Miyagi's home, to see the legacy of Myiagi and Larusso, and what they did in Karate Kid II, and how that impacted their life and his life... this could help her see what Miyagi-Do is doing, it would help her see how it has influenced his village, how it turned it around for the better, and how Miyagi-Do can change anyone into someone better... while there, she can see how Chozen went from being the villain to helping the village thrive to make it better, and more positive, with students and teachers throughout the island... maybe she could also learn the basics of Miyago-Do herself while there... all the while, the absence between Daniel and Amanda causes their love to grow fonder, stronger, helping Daniel realize how much he loves Amanda, and helping Amanda realizing how much Daniel needs Miyagi-Do... both events and situations could lead to a finale where husband and wife meet up together again, realizing that they need to be there for one another, and support one another in everything they do, finding true balance in life. i would love to see Terry Silver and Mike Barnes make an appearance, but i would keep that until the finale of season 3, having them be behind the scenes, turning the tide to their favor... maybe even at one point having some of the "no mercy" Cobra Kai discover that there are other players at stake, and it makes them start to question if what Kreese is doing really is the right thing to do there are so many possibilities for this series... i cant wait to see what they do

I agree with everything outside of both Cobra Kai wanting to take out Danny. Kreese will definitly try to do it again and again, but I think( or want to think) Johnny will focus on the actual threat once he's got back in action. Of course, things beetween him and Danny will still be rocky for a long time, there will be other fights beetween the two group and the villains will try to put beetween them as much discourd as possible.

Since Sato basically disowned his heir-apparent to the "Sato Industries" companies he owned, I wonder if Daniel may have inherited not just some of Sato's wealth and material resources, but also old relics, weapons, and ancient Miyagi-Do texts from Sato after he passed away. I'm also guessing that Daniel inherited the old Miyagi house and dojo as well, since Yukie is dead and Kumiko moved away to Tokyo.
