What i loved about chuck, was that he didn't try to claim or want to appear as some badass, evil son of a gun, that various people in metal genre try to be, like Euronymous, Glen Benton, or just about every other old school metal biker guy. He was a simple guy that loved animals, liked to cook, and hang out with his buddies, and still is held in higher recognition and proclaimed the father of death metal

Freaking unreal. I went to so many death metal shows in the 90's. I've seen Cancer, Morbid Angel during Covenant with At the Gates, Gorguts, Malevolent Creation, Immolation. I bet that girl interviewing him ended up with some moist panties lol.

@@MultiKamil97 in an interview Shan Hamm said the voice change was unintentional. he asked chuck and chuck answered that he himself "doesnt know why" - hes "doing all the same but the voice comes out high pitched". Hamm said prolly that was due to the tumour growing in his brain, who knows

Chuck knew he didn't have to live up to anybody else's "metal" image and stand around acting like the toughest dude in the room who is just pissed off all the time. Metal took a huge step backwards when he passed and has yet to come close to recovering. That being said, big thanks to Eric Greif and everyone else involved in the re-release process to help get the Death records out to people starved for good music.

I couldn’t even imagine the careers and success all the metal bands that are playing nowadays would get if MTV still did this or cared. Instead, Metal bands tour and play and record relentlessly, in vans, in the middle of winter, for months on end. Then write and record everything, recording videos of playthroughs, all sorts of work that other musicians in other genres do not do at all. It’s maddening but hey, all for the music. Just sucks that they can’t make a living off of it anymore.
