this clip features a 5 minute long drum solo by chris coleman. during his performance at our festival chris assumed that his time was up after 30 minutes already. however, he had a total of 45 minutes available. luckily chris was cool about it and played two totally improvised drum solos. one of them you can see here now.
chris can also be heard on prince's new record 20TEN which is released worldwide one of these days now.

Unbelievable control and improv strokes that resonate to your 1/64th's...Lightning speed and yet embellished with precision....One of the greatest drummers of the current generation that I have come to know, listen to, enjoy, admire and feel extremely envious about...There are others too with similar talent, but Chris has a unique style of mental calculation of the rhythm patterns that unfailingly fall into the right slot come whatever may....Hats off to you Sir!

I just love that cleanliness in Chris Coleman and the technique he uses. There are a WHOLE BUNCH of nice drummers out there, but a lot of them look like they're struggling and doing extra work. Chris Coleman just makes it LOOKS that much better. And I know there are other clean drummers out there too.

Went and saw him at a clinic, not only did he blow me away by his drumming, but he is genuinely an amazing person too. Don't get many of those these days.

I've never been one for chopsy solos, but man what a virtuosic player! I really enjoyed the clarity in his playing, as well as his crowd interaction. Great solo!

I meet this dude in allen park ,MI when he played for kim clement, he makes the drums come alive, he is also one of the only drummers that make music with the set with no other insterments.

@solomonsworld Him and Tony Williams are the godfathers of this style, but this goes WAY back...Papa Joe Jones, Art Blakey, Buddy Rich. It started in the jazz world and guys like Chris churched the HELL out of it!!!! =D

what this guy does will be part of history.we are all part of history but his part is what people are always gonna give a fuck about.ive done nothing that anyone will be asking about 50 60 years from and people will be saying that this guy was one of the best and he played with prince.
