In what we can now say was his worst Trade Deadline as the Rangers General Manager, Chris Drury added some complimentary pieces but failed to acquire high-impact players.

Before watching your analysis I have to confess that I thought that getting Wennberg and Roslovic would make the lineup more balanced and considering that Drury had not much margin to work with I said at the time that I was happy with the moves he made. So, it's tough for me to criticize him after the season is over for the Rangers. But after watching these 2 additions to the roster for a couple of months I have to say that I was not impressed. :( Now, I'll listen to your take. :)

Nobody was saying Wennberg was a bust after game 3 ot winner. Btw went in off shaft of stick not his glove or hands

There was a player from San Jose Drury wanted but his buddy Grier messed it up when he traded Hertl to Vegas. Couldn’t retain salary.

Foundation move is to re-sign Igor asap. The Rangers are built around Igor bailing them out from disastrous D zone mistakes. Then if going big try to swing deal for Brady Tkachuk. He has the skill and meanness they need.

Roslovic was good for balance of regular season and first round vs caps. Played well in game 1 vs canes and had strong 3rd period in game 6. Made strong play on the boards to keep puck alive before first and crucial Kreider goal and keeps play in zone before game winner. Like many Rangers he played poorly against Florida. Too passive and soft but he was hardly a complete bust.

Too harsh on Drury. Who was really available options? Tarasenko wasn’t an option because they weren’t allowed to have another team absorb salary.

We could have gotten Vladimir Tarasenko for what we gave up for the other players. He went for a 2024 4th round and 2025 3rd round pick. I am glad we were able to extend Quick though, I feel he was a stabilizing force for the team.

Bottom line is Drury wanted to make a good move, but there wasn’t a good enough deal on the table and he wasn’t about to sell the farm and that’s exactly what happened.

I don't care about the trade deadline, I care that he betrayed Buchnevich, wastes draft picks on people who clearly don't want to be on the team, and abandoned the rebuild in favor of wasting time in the playoffs when they clearly weren't ready and the state of Florida owns the entire Eastern Conference, and now they are older than the 2014 team and no longer play classy clean hockey

What has Drury done to improve this team long term? He inherited a playoff ready team and really most of his trades and signings have been duds

Thank YOU!!! Someone with a 🧠…. Aside from Trocheck, Drury has done very little positive in his 3 years as GM. He still hasn’t replaced Buchnevich at 1RW, in fact he hasn’t come close. Drury is a bum.

Like you guys weren’t thrilled when he brought in Kane and Taresenko. He’s done all he can responsibly do each deadline. Also “besides Trocheck” bro that’s a huge deal. The Trocheck signing has been amazing. Drury is one great RW away from create a complete team since he’s an expert at creating the bottom half of a roster. Also how about Quick? Extending Chytil? (Unfortunate circumstances since then) Dude has been a great GM. Who was he supposed to get? Besides Guentsial there was nobody who could move the needle.

I heard pitt wanted Othman which wasn’t gonna happen. Clearly trying to make the rangers overpay. The ducks wanted kaapo and a 1st maybe more but I don’t think it was the 2 big prospects. He held out for kaapo so you could critique that move cause vatrano had a 2 year deal

Has Drury failed, so far I would say yes. However, in saying this he and the organization will have to look at the past 3 years and make very tough choices. The past 3 years has shown that this is a good team, but not an elite team. They need to get bigger and stronger. Drury I think is officially on the clock, and unfair as it may seem, I think if her does not deliver a Stanley Cup in 2 years then he is out.

In terms of high end forwards ... this was a pretty weak deadline market. it happens to be the two of the biggest names moved nyr happened to face.

Rather than Glenn Sather being the Senior Advisor to the GM. If Mike Keenan was instead, Keenan would have told Drury the same thing he told Neil Smith thirty years ago, "don't get seduced by the talent on this team." Smith was indifferent to the sound advice so Keenan found it necessary to go above Smith right to Gulf and Western and declare the trades that had to be made.

Anyone old enough to remember what the Rangers did around the deadline in 94? Gave away young talent to get over the top. I’d rather win the Cup and be “mediocre” for a number of years afterwards than always be “good”. Drury has no guts and should go.

We were in 1st all year. If he made a big deal, many would say why did he do that when everything is going well. Let’s not forget the worst owner in pro sports probably wouldn’t have let drury trade that 1st rounder, even if he wanted to cause of the stupid Vegas draft. Dolan has always been one of if not the biggest reason they can never get to the top of the mountain post 94

I don't think there was anything Driry could have done to restructure this team at the define. They need to add muscle and snarl. Based on what we knew at the time, I had no problem with what Drury did....mostly. Roslovic seem like the only miss but I don't think another skilled forward would have mattered.

Roslovic and Wennberg were both trash. Neither one contributed significant offense. Drury is a joke. 3 years later and he has never replaced Buchnevich.

Tarasenko? I don't think so. They had him on 2023 playoffs and the experiment failed, obviously. He's even less of a scoring threat this year with Florida. Maybe he will make me lie in the finals but I would be surprised if he does. Anyway, he was not the answer.

I am curious as to how much influence Glen Sather still has within the organization. I know that all things had to be approved through Sather through the Gorton and Davidson eras. I have said since 2000, when Dolan hired Sather that he was a one-trick-pony who couldn't run a lemonade stand without having the shoulders of Gretzky's or Messier's shoulders to ride. He was a right place at the right time guy who has been a useless, arrogant hack over nearly a quarter century in NY. I was proven right, unfortunately. One Finals appearance. One..... Do you know how much he is still involved in the day to day?

8 draft picks in 3 yrs including 3#1's AND NOT RETAINING NOT EVEN 1 PLAYER OBTAINED VIA THOSE TRADES IS A COMPLETE AND UTTER FAILURE ! How does Mikkola look at a mere 2.5 for 3yrs ? You be the judge.....

In his defense, besides Guentsial, there was NOBODY that would have moved the needle. Not Duclair not Monahan, not Lindholm. Drury did the best with what was out there. He did not fail at the deadline. We would’ve rightfully complained if he overpayed for a middle six player; that’s all that was available.

Blaming Drury would be cope. Not saying that’s what you’re doing; you can think he should’ve done more. But if you think that the Rangers are out because of the GM then yeah that’s cope.

@@shawnlewin9057 I simply believe the Rangers management could've done much more than what they did... Defense was the clear issue adding a gritty player would've helped much more not blaming Drury rather the management for not seeking the proper player's needed..
