Charlie making the producers in the room laughs. Legend
@billyunterbuchner91974 жыл бұрын
I hate to spoil it for you, but these off-camera laughs are done purposefully by certain tv shows in order to make the show seem funnier than it is. It's a trick that I first remember seeing on Tiswas (which helped it gather an adult, as well as a kids audience). This laughter would never happen unless it was okayed by the producers. (it's very easy to laugh without it being picked up by the microphones)

Billy Unterbuchna. Charlie will make ANYONE laugh with his brilliant deadpan wit Evans "Do you feel miscast in the band?" Charlie "You mean should I have been the singer?" There was genuine spontaneous laughter during these interviews. Do you always try to suck the life out things?

@TheRicardoguitar20210 жыл бұрын
I think Chris Evans question to Charlie Watts "Do you ever think you were miscast being in the Rolling Stones?" is so offensive and ignorant and plain rude. He obviously has no idea how much all that great music over the past 50 years depends on Charlies groove & sound!
@andzwe9 жыл бұрын
Even when you only look at it image-wise, which he obviously does, Charlie is the perfect fit for the Stones. Their characters and personal style are rather different, but they're nevertheless a unit (most of the time), which is a big part of their appeal.

Charlie caught that question on being miscast in a millisecond and responded hilariously. What he said about his wife saying ''You don't do anything'', he knew that could be taken several ways. Very highly skilled in the double entendre and polite yet sarcastic rebuttal. Ronnie gets hit with that how long he's been there thing way too much. That guy cut his teeth in the London thing long before the Stones and he was kind of THE GUY in that whole scene years before there was an opening with them so it's more a footnote that he wasn't there because he was busy being a foot soldier for the entirety of ragged bluesy folk rock even while the Stones were taking time out of that headspace for testing out other genres, in a way they came to him not the other way around. It would have been similar to them choosing Jeff Beck, who also had his own thing going on long before the mid 1970s rolled around. In a way, Ronnie was the guy they were waiting for the whole time. And, think about it, he's the only thing that ever cemented their style, before he joined they were all over the map stylistically floating somewhere between all the big British groups that came and went. All else said, fun guys whose job it was for along time to help people have fun. I've always said it and always will, you can not like the Stones' music, you can even critique their personal lives or whatever but you have to respect their work ethic and their characters. They could each have quit decades ago to stick their toes in the sand on some super rich paradise island somewhere but they chose to keep doing that thing that's, in the end, kind of insane and not very easy to deal with.

Chris. Why would Charlie want to be in another band. Chris...you normally do a brilliant interview but that was a rubbish question to ask. Sounds like you didn't do your research. Stones are one of the biggest bands and a lot of that is down to Charlie watts

After I scrolled through the comments I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who thought the two interviewers were pretty awful. I thought maybe it's just me at first. I couldn't quite figure out why they were irritating to me, but the questions they asked were just plain idiotic. And then there's the general off-putting demeanor they both have that didn't help matters.

The set was wonderful. Looks like it was tailor-made for Charlie. The interviewers were terrible. Joe Chambers at RRHOF is the best rock interviewer I know. He asks intelligent questions, and then lets the person he is interviewing *talk!" These talking heads need to learn from Joe Chambers on both scores.

@OMGWTFLOLSMH7 жыл бұрын
Nope. Ronnie's great, but Mick Taylor was involved with so many of the classics, you can't even compare the two. He is technically better, and, straight from Jagger's mouth: “I think he had a big contribution,” Mick Jagger told Rolling Stone in 1995. “He made it very musical. He was a very fluent, melodic player, which we never had, and we don’t have now. Neither Keith nor Ronnie plays that kind of style.” “It was very good for me working with him,” added the singer. “I could sit down with Mick Taylor, and he would play very fluid lines against my vocals. He was exciting, and he was very pretty, and it gave me something to follow, to bang off. Some people think that’s the best version of the band that existed.”
@Antipodean337 жыл бұрын
OMGWTFLOL Well people do say he is a better guitarist, but as we know rock n roll doesn't have to have technical ability to sound great

Charlie Watts has never sat down and lvoluntarily istened to a Stones album. After they finish an album, and or leaving the recording studio, that's as far as Cjarlie goes. Watts is a jazx musician by trade and has been quoted more than once that rock n roll is a bunch a bullocks! As far as the bands widespread poularity and band success Watts response is " I think its absurd really. I dont really understand what all the fuss is all about."

Also the other irritating fact that hindered them over the years about being the biggest live draw on the planet and having justified respect from all over the rock n roll world, they elevated the touring model to what it is, they are genuinely a joy to see, more resilience than every other band combined, a phenomenon.
