Chris Hogg is a former England age-group international who is now the Newcastle United Under-23 lead coach. In a full training session filmed exclusively for CV Academy, he took his players through a series of four practices aimed at developing the team’s defensive transitions when losing possession in build-up play.
In this excerpt from the third of the four practices, Hogg focuses on the positioning of the back six (a back four and two central midfielders) and goalkeeper when playing out from the back, to ensure they are well positioned to react to a turnover.

Thank you. This is a light bulb moment for me to drive home to the boys that quick transition is as important when we lose possession as when we gain possession. I think our small side games will be much more productive with this being emphasized. Love it!

NE Tactical roof builders across cat1s ...with NO idea how to rectify Technical inadequacies, as they're to inexperienced, unable to critique, impart and make sessions as uncomfortable as possible to realise potential. Never heard ANY of them demand or show players how to disguise intent across all 5 moments of the game. Just cos your the caretaker doesnt mean you can be the Headmaster after the summer holidays !!!!!!
