This is on Booker. Chris Paul is small and old. Booker is supposed to be a scoring machine and has to be the best player on the team to win despite not being the leader (similar in a sense to AD needing to be the best player on the Lakers).

it's on Booker, Chris and Ayton all the same. CP3 is supposed to be the leader and keep his guys engaged. He failed. Booker is supposed to be the scorer and closer. He failed. Ayton is supposed to be the glue guy and the enforcer. He failed. Monty Williams failed as well.

It’s on booker and ayton period. The Younger guys gotta step up , the vets lead and scheme/adjust and say what needs to be said but the youth with the energy and talent gotta step up when the older guy like cp3 can’t play 46 minutes at an elite level anymore he need bench time and as the series goes on he wears down , booker blew it , ZERO made shots in the whole first half of a game 7 that’s a shame

The ironic part is that the Suns could have drafted Luka instead of Ayton. The Suns coach at the time, had actually coached Luka in Europe. He wanted to pick Luka. The Suns owner, Sarver, insisted they take Ayton. Owner should have listened to his coach. Ayton is a decent big but didn't show up in game 7. Luka will probably win a couple of MVPs before he's done.

I think they knew they’d get Paul and thought he’d better serve them winning it all NOW, especially when you then get to use that pick on the premier young big as well. I think they looked at their needs and the free agent option to fill guard (with Paul) was probably way better than the free agent to fill power forward. It’s not like Paul has been total garbage the last two years. Suns were bottom of the league before. But the forward to replace Ayton would’ve probably been hot garbage. I also really think it was Booker’s choice to have Paul over a rookie ball dominant. Booker would’ve clashed with those guys.

@@KonaTheDragon valid points my friend, but rarely in a draft you get to pick such talent. It reminds me of the Bobby Knight story on the 84 Jordan draft. @@xcwilliams7980 no becuase Giannis was phenomenal, CP3 was terrible, so was Book, so in THIS CONTEXT, CP3 deserves the most blame Giannis doesn’t deserve the blame because he averaged 34, 15, 7, 1 and 1 If Gianni’s had multiple games in which he scored under 10 (LIKE PAUL) then he would be receiving the lion share of the blame

Yeah your take is a bad one. CP3 hasn’t gotten the majority of the credit this year, at least in the reg season, bc 1) he was missing games 2) book has been on the AD track i.e. young superstar taking over for the old (which shockingly could keep becoming a better and better comp). The only moments CP3 got credit for is when he balled out in these playoffs. He’s 37 and dealt w injuries this year. It’s not on CP3, it’s 100% on Book. Is LeBron more to blame for the lakers struggles since their ring, or AD? If you’re going to tell me it’s LeBron, then alright I’ll let you argue CP3, but its on AD in my opinion. And this situation with the suns is basically a mirror of it, so its more on Book here for me too. But it’s all just perspective ig. If you think LeBron is to blame for LA falling short, then ofc you think CP3 is to blame for the suns. But it’s def on the younger stars here, it’s supposed to be their time to shine especially since considering LeBron and CP3s ages.

Suns have two prime issues: Booker should be the leader of the team, but isn't, and therefore feeds off Chris Paul's energy and not vice versa. #2 Ayton....dude you are a mismatch every night in today's NBA.

It is Booker, CP3, Ayton and the coach that failed. Booker not showing up in his first game 7, CP3 bullied by the Mavs defense, both of them way too arrogant after 2 games, Ayton not getting activated and not asking to get activated, the coach not keeping the team humble and making them understand the sense of urgency and not getting Ayton activated.

Do someone gotta be activated to get boards? what about to run the floor? People need to stop acting like Ayton gonna turn into some combination of Shaq and Hakeem. Dude has no drive. Tripling his current salary is only going to make it worse for whoever does it.

Of course this isn’t on the 37 year old in year 17 more then 25.5 year old player Booker in year 7 who was 4th in MVP voting and will probably be 1st team all nba. He was bad these last 2 games. CP3 playing out of his mind as a 36 year old (basically 37) before that in playoffs tricked us bc that was never sustainable, but Booker shooting 9-31 (0-8) with 12 TOs (compared to 5 assists) the last 2 games clearly deserves the most blame! The man was 27 ppg in first 30 playoff games of his career (last year had one of the best 1st playoffs ever averaging 27 ppg to a team who went 6 in Finals and one of only 25 seasons ever of someone scoring 600+ playoff points) up 3-2 going to Dallas the man then averages 15 ppg 5 3 6 TPG 29 FG% (9-31) 0% from 3 (0-4 in each game) 25 year old Bridges disappeared too as he wasn’t stopping (or making it tough) on anyone as a great defender in last 2 games and a guy who had averaged 14-15 ppg in regular season and playoffs on like 50/40/85 splits in games 5 and 6 6.5 ppg 0 spg (after 1.5 spg before that) 0.5 bpg (after 1+ bpg before that in playoffs) 29 FG% 25 3P% Ayton at least had a good game 6 and only played 17 mins in game7 and CP3 is old AF. Everyone deserves blame but imo Booker and Bridges objectively deserve the most. Broussard Twan & Wildes are dead wrong on this.

@victorsullivan9107

The honest answer is Mavs defense and Luka. But if you gotta choose someone on the Suns to blame, it’s gotta be Booker. This is the guy who finished 4th in MVP voting ahead of Luka. That’s the guy everyone says should be a superstar, and the guy everyone expected to drop 40. He’s supposed to be the young leader of the team, and he’s supposed to carry the load for the games where CP3 needs a bit of extra rest. He’s their leading scorer, and he’s the guy who’s been there the longest. It’s his team. Instead of closing out the series, he mocks the best player. In TWO close out games, he goes a combined 10-31 FG%, 0-8 from 3pt, and has 12 turnovers. Spencer Dinwiddie’s game 7 alone was better than Booker’s games 6+7 combined. You can’t expect a 37 year old to carry the entire team. We saw not even LeBron could do that. The blame has to be put on the young “star”

Blame the Bucks. Nobody talks about this but have we forgotten that the Suns talked about being on a “Revenge campaign” this season? When the Bucks lost earlier in the day, they got deflated and lost energy because they won’t get their revenge of last season’s finals loss to the Bucks. I bet you, if they had an extra day to just take it in, they would have played like their usual selves.

Blame... the blame should go to the winning team. For facing and counter bullying adversity. For coming up w a winning game plan. For shutting down "the best" with effort, talent and whatever winning attitude many of us (including sports analysts here) would never understand. Give credit to the winning team as much as you spend time looking for scape-GOATS in the losing team. Unless you think CP3 & co just decided to toss the game for the heck of it (gambling conspiracy here) & the Mavs had nothing to do with Suns collapse...
