Yeah ditto, really I mean he's a hero to me having had a whipple done in a time when it didnt have at all a good success rate, with me having a secondary complex surgery called a J Pouch (well really called an Ileo/Ileal Pouch, is called another term but it's a relatively long one is the proper clinical term for a Whipple) thats why I see him as a hero really to me of many people. Also happens to be the husband to a lady who's the sister of a colleague my parents worked with as lecturers actually. Got a lot of time for Chris Rea and find him really funny too when he talks about other things haha, like find him genuinely yeah, got tons of time for him :)

I fell in love with him in high school (when "Fool If You Think It's Over") and I'm like you - I do NOT understand why the US didn't take to him. Thank goodness I found him!

Love his music. From footage I have seen he is just as good "live" if not better than a studio track.

Paul Race I have listened to some of the songs and yes, our man's voice has aged a little bit. I think he has retained most of the VOICE but considering his health issues it's a wonder he can sing at all, let alone sing well, as he does on this new CD. Our Chris is still handlin' business with his playing. Let us continue to pray for his health....his daughters need to give him and Joan some grandbabies... pass those genes!!! Love me some CR. By the way, his eyes look beautiful in this interview... he's ALWAYS had beautiful eyes, a pretty blue.

Hi Mercedyz you are right he is a great guy, he is from the same area as England as me and I have followed him since the 70s. His voice has aged like i said but it is still good, just a little different.

Paul Race Hello friend, greetings from Ohio in the states. You guys are so BLESSED to live in the same area as "THE CHRIS", even the same country. Man, what I would give to just get a glimpse of him, what I would give to see him in concert. You guys got it going on, you just don't know. You're from the same area as Chris??? Do you speak with an adorable accent as well??!! Lol I have been enthralled with Chris for almost a month... the only song I knew of his was fiytiover. I happened upon Rea's work about a month ago after hearing Rod Stewart version of "Windy Town". I have been hooked ever since. it's great to see Chris has so many fans...in Europe ...man, wish he would tour the states. Again, you guys are blessed. Please pray for "brother Chris" and his family. Chris is from Middlesbrough I am from Darlington, a town about 8 miles away. I remember listening to Chris on the local Radio even the DJs name lol. I was about 14. Even then he was very good. His family are of Italian heritage, they had an ice cream business Rea s' ice cream. Great tastes lol. He is and always will be a local hero. If you haven't heard it try Santo Spirito Blues very different but very good. He made two videos for it too. Keep listening to him Mercedyz. Paul

Paul Race Good morning Paul, love your responses. You have an almost front row seat to Chris. I think I heard something about Darlington years ago. I will give "Santo" a listen. I know I'll love it as much as I love the softer version of "Only to Fly" with the Cool and Confident von Trips driving I think his last race. The fadeout is pronounced and haunting and is indicative of what's to come for von Trips. I love it!!! The fast of version is one of my favorites as I holler to it EVERYDAY, EVERYDAY!!! have you heard "Let Me In"??? Listened to it Saturday night and wow, what a tune and his signature rasp is on fire!!!!!! The driving bass and lyrics add so much to the song. His bass player, Sylvan (sp), is VERY GOOD.... may, he's EXCELLENT! In fact, his whole band is excellent and you can tell they have been with him for a while because they "read" him very well. Chris said he found out who his real friends were when he was sick, I hope these guys are his real friends. Paul, you be blessed today and be careful, we live in a world that "sees" darkness from time to time. Tomorrow is not promised you so live RIGHT and get RIGHT with God. I too had the pleasure of meeting him at Edinburgh playhouse many years ago. I agree totally that he is a lovely humble man. Been to many concerts over the years, still listen to his music today and love him like you guys. Now to my ticket :-)

He's also brother in law to a friend of mine, well from my parents where they worked before retiring a good while back, worked with Chris's sister in law (and a very good friend of mine as well, her I mean never met Chris). Got soo much respect for Chris, he hasn't had the best health poor man!

Good to see him looking good though, that puts my mind at rest for him!

eccIefechan The stroke probably had to do with it. The important thing is he survived extremely nasty health issues. He collapsed a few days ago during a show, I think a full year after he got the stroke. Chris Rea and Dick Dale are two of the toughest guitar players in terms of surviving deadly illnesses.
