I am a survivor of 3 suicide attempts I have been diagnosed with bipolar depression it's real I have been told on many occasions to just snap out of it.Its not a choice for us to live and feel this way.But after 55 dealing with horrible monster that wants my life and my soul.I have truly learned to love and respect myself and to take it minute by minute hour by hour and day by day. God bless anyone that reads this and I pray it helps you as well

The first time I heard this song it surprised me too, to me, it’s basically saying, “hurt me, because I can take it, please don’t hurt yourself, because that’s something I cannot bear.”

I was shopping with my daughter. She said mama I want you to watch this video. You see I have bi-polar and take my medicine everyday as prescribed but I have days I wish I wasn't here to keeping dealing with the crazy that are my thoughts that run through my head. When we got back to car, she pulled up this song on youtube in the Walmart parking lot. I remember tears running down my face when the song ended I just kept looking at the phone. After a few moments of silence, she simply said I live you mama never forget that and I'll always be here. No matter what. (Sorry for the long message)

My daughter has severe anxiety and survives two attempts… she couldn’t be medicated because side effects made things worse. I wouldn’t wish that pain on anyone and I’m sorry you are in the same boat as me and sorrier still that your daughter hurts so much! Always remind her it is not a scarlet letter and it’s okay to talk about.

I had just gotten a divorce. I turned to alcohol so I could forget my life for just a little while. Luckily, i only drank for about a month. My parents took me to the hospital because they thought it was my multiple sclerosis causing the balance issues and not being able to think straight. They did blood work and I had already had liver damage. The doctor knew right away from my blood work. I would be drinking straight vodka. I would watch this video. It took me a long time to be able to listen to this again. I'm totally sober. I haven't drank even a sip of any alcohol in four years. He wasn't worth it. He was a terrible person. He broke me. I just decided to stop giving me any control over my thoughts. I was in the floor crying and praying for God to let me forget him. I had to forgive him for me. One day I woke up completely at peace. The power of prayer is very real. Sorry for the long comment.

When I first heard this song a very good friend of mine had just ended her life and I honestly was considering doing the same thing, I was in such a dark place that I couldn't see the light, I couldn't see my way out of it, and I watched the video and it showed me how much it would hurt my loved ones, so I decided to just keep my head up and keep pushing.. this song literally saved my life.

As someone who has survived 3 suicide attempts, with my husband (of 25 years) finding me in comas, and is still trying to help me fight my inner demons..I know it is so hard for him and I don't want to hurt him, with him not fully understanding what's going inside me, and he's now the only person I can trust, when I'm feeling suicidal... This message is so important, mental health is a hard disease to fight...🙏❤✌

My first time hearing this was when I discovered Chris Stapleton. I went on a CS binge. The Man is brilliant. He can write, sing and play guitar like no one else. I think that by now you've discovered that true Country is the heart and soul of our country. If you'd like to hear another great performer and be warned ahead of time, you will binge on his music. Try CHRIS LEDOUX. Start off with This Cowboy's Hat. I've enjoyed watching your reactions. Wishing You and Family Well and Happiness.

The love of an individual is not measured in just words, it is when the love of that individual makes an imprint on our lives that makes us want to be better, you want there safety over your own. The song is about love in the sickness part in health.i have lost to many family and friends to mental instability. Few random acts of kindness and letting someone know you care and matter makes a difference in this life.

After almost losing my husband! I’m bipolar, I was manic and untreated. But because I’m a rapid cycle type I was a mess up and down up and down, it’s hard after 20 years. I don’t know why I stopped the meds that time but I did. I was listening to sad songs trying to feel sorry for myself. As one does... I heard this and thought, “ Damnnnn, that is me. He puts up with it. All he wants is to not lose me this way.” I met up with him and broke down and told him I was scared and he told me we would do it together. It wasn’t just on me, and it wasn’t fair to try to do it all by myself. It’s work, but it’s sooo worth it. First time in my life I honestly didn’t try to be normal anymore.

Young lady, you are AWESOME! You, and a few others, come across with the most sincere, honest, reactions. That is from a 71 year old, white guy who now follow the reactions by our Black brothers and sisters.....almost exclusively. For whatever reason, I feel at home and comfortable, with the emotion that pours our of your heart. I just don't feel that kind of reaction with those who care more about hearing themselves talk. Like a lot of other Southerners, I know that I have always made a connection with the heart and SOUL of my Brothers "of another color." Thank GOD that music is often devoid of prejudice....but is full of the emotion that tears down the walls of hatred!

It all goes on the shelf, man can't be seen to grieve, to weep, everything goes inside, all his loss, all his regret at not loving her enough to keep her alive, he can't show it, so he drinks, fights, causes pain to himself, any man sees it in the face of other men, all that pain locked away.

Thank you so much for reacting to this song. Yes it's about a person suffering from depression, and being bi-polar. It is also about a persons unconditional love, and unwillingness to give up on the person he loves. I heard this song a few months ago, and found myself listening to it at least 5 times straight. It just stuck with me. I don't suffer from depression or anything. But I listen to the words and cant help but wonder what it is like to love someone like that, and to be loved like that as well. The actor in the video is Ben Foster. He's a fantastic actor you've likely seen before. He was in 3:10 To Yuma with Christian Bale and Russell Crowe. He was also in Lone Survivor with Mark Wahlberg and The Messenger with Woody Harrelson, as well as many other films.

2016, three years after loosing my wife to PTSD, she got from being law enforcement, and alcoholism. She barely lived through a DUI crash. People say that’s not “loosing” someone but I disagree. The woman she was is gone forever. This song reminds me every time I hear it. I’m not ashamed to say it gets me every time.

My son sent this to me today and the message was”you and my dad” I watched it and cried and wondered if this is what I have put my husband through the last 29yrs? I left my husband on November 12th and we have been going through hell trying to work things out. He still tells me he’s never going give up on me. Which is what the man in the video did for his wife.

I saw this video at home looking for music by Chris Stapleton about nine months ago and cried like a baby. I have almost lost both of my daughters to suicide so this hit very close to home.

Love your openness to other genras of music. If people in the world were as open and willing to listening to other people's views before judging and condemning, we'd all be better off. Keep up the great work. 👍

Great song but the video is rough as hell! But it brings awareness to a very real issue!!! Great job!! 🤘❤️🤘

As far as I know this is the ONLY song he's EVER done a video for. He wanted a visual to bring awareness to mental health issues...it gutted me the first time I saw it and continues to do so every single time I watch!! Thank y'all for reacting and being real...blessings 👏❤😢

This is the only video he has ever made. Its what he imagines as the hardest situation in which to love someone. Someone who is depressed/manic and suicidal. And being someone who helps and saves people every day but can't help the one he loves. There's a backstory video for this.
