Anyone who has been through a divorce or has experienced a dead-end relationship can really relate to this song. Chris expresses the emotional state of being past crying and past caring so beautifully in this song. My heart goes out to you, if you too know exactly how this feels. We pass in the hall On our way to separate rooms The only time we ever talk Is when the monthly bills are due We go to work, we go to church We fake the perfect life I'm past the point of give-a-damn And all my tears are cried We can just go on like this Say the word, we'll call it quits Baby, you can go or you can stay But I won't love you either way It's been so long since I've felt Anything inside these walls You can't hate and you can't hurt When you don't feel at all I used to cry and stay up nights And wonder what went wrong And it's been hard But hearts can only do that for so long We can just go on like this Say the word, we'll call it quits Baby, you can go or you can stay But I won't love you either way We can just go on like this Say the word, we'll call it quits Baby, you can go or you can stay But I won't love you either way Source: Musixmatch Songwriters: Christopher Stapleton / Timothy James / Kendall Marvel

LeKa C-Lo----While Lee Ann Womack covered this song years ago since it was written by Chris Stapleton this is the original version. Lee Ann's was the cover version (even though this wasn't released yet). If that makes sense? Whenever songwriters release their original material (even after the release of another artist covering it) you are getting the original and relegating the earlier release to a cover (at least in my mind)
@mrmwest097 жыл бұрын
LeKa C-LO Lee Ann Womack did cut it a few years ago but Chris is the original writer of the song. On his new album he wrote or co-wrote all but 1 song, Last Thing I Needed, First Thing This Morning, originally cut by Willie Nelson.

Not only is he a vocal powerhouse, a gifted lyricist, and a brilliant songwriter, but he has a gift that not many musicians do nowadays-he reaches/touches people. I prefer to listen to live, acoustic music versus the band, bells, and whistles, all day long. When an artist sounds just as good acoustic/a cappella as he does recorded, if not better, you can't get much better than that.

LYRICS:--- We pass in the hall on our way to separate rooms The only time we'll ever talk is when the monthly bills are due We go to work, we go to church We fake the perfect life I passed the point of giving a damn All my tears are cried We can just go on like this Say the word, we'll call it quits Baby, you can go or you can stay But I won't love you either way It's been so long since I've felt Anything inside these walls You can't hate, you can't hurt When you don't feel at all I used to cry and stay up nights And wonder what went wrong And it's been hard But hearts can only do that for so long We can just go on like this Say the word, we'll call it quits Baby, you can go or you can stay But I won't love you either way We can just go on like this Say the word, we'll call it quits Baby, you can go or you can stay But I won't love you either way

If you havent by now, check out his track called "Whiskey and You"...very similar composition to 'Either Way'...but each song is just raw emotional truth. Some of Chris' best music is just his singular vocal, alone & laden...and his unplugged acoustic guitar.

Stuck in a loveless marriage for my son. This song has been medicine for my soul for years
@msYNA2o Жыл бұрын
As a daughter who grew up with parents in a loveless marriage, you can't just stay for your son. it's not fair on him. We're all grown now, but me and my siblings still carry the shame of putting my parents through so many years of unhappiness because we found out "they stayed for us, their children".
@wilbl7778 Жыл бұрын
@@msYNA2o Not your burden to carry, Try not to diminish the sacrifice, right or not, that your parent made. It was their life they were giving up for you.
@msYNA2o Жыл бұрын
@@wilbl7778 Being told they stayed for us will always be a difficult thing to not carry. And you said so yourself, why would you say it’s a parent’s sacrifice to have children? That statement in itself makes it the child’s burden. And don’t get me wrong, I love my parents to death. But to say that they were giving up their lives for me literally makes it my burden. I didn’t ask to be born, and the decision to have me should never have come at a cost to giving up their lives.
@ashtonstout73758 ай бұрын
I assure you your son knows or will soon know that you are not in love with your wife. Children always know when their parents aren’t in love. It is painful and frightening for them. It was a relief when my parents finally divorced. For me, the worst part of my parent’s divorce was how long it took for them to do it.
