To be fair to miller if people listened to him he admits himself that a red is what the rules suggest is the right outcome here. His point is that var has intervened in an incident that would (in his opinion, rightly or wrongly) has passed by without comment had it not been reviewed and sticking with a yellow card. He's arguing that it's not clear and obvious in my opinion.

Miller is making the point that the rangers player wasn't playing for the ankle as the Celtic player spun and it was only bad luck that landed the tackle on the ankle. Basically he's saying that a red card shouldn't be judged on the outcome but on the intent. If he gets the ball but nothing else changes then he's still out of control and it's still dangerous......but it wouldn't get a red. To be fair I think he has a point but I still think it's a red card because ultimately the studs are up.
