TBH - saw how to do this on KZfaq! So, I thought I'd give it a try. Turned out pretty good. The whole premise is to reduce "huff and chuff" loudspeaker port noise (air friction and turbulence) when the woofer is thumping. I used a standard heat gun and melting the PVC using a steel pet bowl as a "form". Three attempts! But, PVC is so inexpensive to work with...no big deal. There are prob a 1,000 ways to do this better. The good thing about KZfaq is to 1) show others what you do 2) spark interest/ideas 3) do better if you can or want to. So, if you can do better...make a video and show others. Otherwise, move along

Quick question what would happen if the pvc pipe port didn't have a flare on it and you put the pvc pipe into a subwoofer enclosure without a flare on it what would happen

Should still work...might pick up some huff/chuff at the lowest frequencies

Does adding a flare this way change the tuning if you have it precut to proper length? Hope that makes sense , adding the flare seems to shorten the overall length therefore seems if it would change the parameters, or maybe not enough to effect tuning ?

Flares are more for reducing or eliminating "huff and chuff" port noise when the woofer is articulating
