He got some in P3P with the female route. In fact it's relatively easy to max him out if you're consistent enough.

I think that is because of the impact both had on their respective stories Shinji literally dies saving Ken and has a funeral afterwards. Later in P3P, as the FemC, if you complete his social link you can save him and you can romance him. All that on top of that P3 has had a longer time to cultivate a fan base than P5 did, despite the latter being more popular. And he also appears in both Persona Q games Haru is one of the last companions you get too, she's fun to interact with and I love the little hints of her sadistic side, but after Okumura's palace she kinda fades into the background. In Strikers that is fixed by making her interact more with the group but the damage was already done. Her screen time in P5/P5R is as little as her forehead's big. But despite all that she's still my favorite romance of the game Edit: I think a better comparison would be Haru and Legion from the Mass Effect series. Both are the last members you get (Akechi doesn't count for obvious reasons). And they get sidelined for it. Due to the nature of his recruitment mission, it's likely that you won't get time to know him. Haru was just sidelined because they didn't know how to handle her. Morgana fucking stole the moment she desperately needed for her character arc. Morgana's "My friends are my strength" cutscenes should've been a moment for Haru's development

Shinji was one of my reasons for choosing the P3 Side of PQ. We barely got any time to see him have fun with the rest of the group, he deserved all the screen time I could give him.

Fun Fact: In Persona 3: The Weird Masquerade, a stage play based on P3, in the 2nd Act Gunjou no Meikyuu, it is implied that in the female main character route, it is implied that Kotone Shiomi (FEMC) becomes smitten with Shinjiro, as she returns him his pocket watch. Shinjiro also does not die and goes into a coma until the 5th Act Hekikuu no Kanata e, where he makes a special appearance only in the Female route, as in the Male route, Shinjiro is dead.

If I could marry any anime/video game character, I would marry Shinjiro. He is so sweet, and is very handsome. I know that sounds super cringe, but I don’t care. He is my favorite romance option, because of the brevity. Life is precious, and for as tough as Shinjiro is… the human body is fragile. There are so many things I could say about my boy.
