I got the Christensen Mesa 308. The gun operates great and feels great. Shoots amazing with factory ammo. It loves the federal fusion 165 and the Remington tipped corelock

I bought a Christensen 6.5 Mesa,Green yellow,black white stock,And Bronze cerocote. I shot 20 rounds though it and I Absolutely love it. Everyone at my 2gunclubs thought it was a impressive rifle hope to enjoy for years to come also I paid a little more for it maybe because it’s a Lefty. Great video keep them coming.

Great video. I just ordered this rifle. I was wondering if you have any issues loading it with the one piece rail? I also picked up a Leupold Vx3i 3.5x10x40mm scope and I need to pick out a mounting system. Thanks.

No issues loading. I prefer picatinny rails and I prefer titanium or steel.

I have a 300 win mag Ridgeline and was thinking of selling my 30-06 because it rarely gets used now, and getting this exact gun for smaller-medium sized game. Originally was thinking .243, but not available in mesa and kind of like 300 win mag to 30-06 feel like 6.5 can do everything a 243 can do and a lot more. Awesome video. Should save some time on developing my own loads. Ever give the barnes LRX a shot in this gun? the barnes ttsx 180s work well for me in the 300 win mag Ridgeline. Thanks for any feedback. Again - Great Video(s).

Good review! I've been looking for one for a couple weeks now, this is the only one I could find. A little better look at the groups it shot would be nice for next time. Kinda disappointing that it weighs more than advertised as I'm looking for a new accurate lightweight hunting rig that won't break the bank. I'm still thinking of one in 7mm Rem mag. I run a trigger tech in my current Remington rifle, there nice triggers but I like mine heavier then you. I have mine set around 3 pounds for those cold days when my fingers go a little numb waiting for game to show up.

I have this same rifle in 6.5cm as well. Do you have overheating barrel problems? I can shoot about 5 times and gotta stop for awhile. Its no problem as its a thin barrel but im just seeing what your tests showed

HuntinTheWest do you mind if I ask what you used for a rail and scope mounts? I installed a 20 moa nightforce rail and the brass consistently hit the rail and about one in twenty cycles the brass did not clear the chamber when ejecting the spent round because it was hit the rail.

Do you own any of the carbon barrels? I was ready to buy one until getting into the forums and people seem to all say they are picky with ammo and you will either get one that shoots amazing or shoots like crap. No middle ground and CA customer service supposedly sucks. Would hate to spend 2k on a gun that won't shoot sub moa especially if they won't stand by their guarantee
@HuntinTheWest
@HuntinTheWest 4 жыл бұрын
I have had six of their carbon barrels and everyone shot as well or better than any custom barrel I have owned. I have also called Christensen customer service and was very impressed. I can guarantee that any production rifle is going to have a problem every once in a while. I can also tell you most who claim to have problems most likely are the problem. Just because you buy a $2k plus rifle does not mean it is going to make you a benchrest shooter. My newest rifle has a custom chambered 300wsm barrel on it and it is the most accurate rifle I have owned. I assure you CA stands by their sub MOA guarantee and with proper load development it will most likely shoot much better. Go look at my latest rifle and groups on LongrangeOnly.com Instagram.

@@HuntinTheWest thanks for the info! I think a lot of the haters just can't admit a 2k production rife stands up to their 6k custom builds. And a lot of reviewers will try one or 2 different match rounds and claim it doesn't shoot. I've probably got every hunting load they make in 308 haha They also hate on the 700. But I own a few 5rs and a sendero and all are sub moa.

Debating the mesa or the bergara hmr pro. And firing pin spring weight is probably why you are not getting the trigger techs as low as you want. They are relative
@HuntinTheWest
@HuntinTheWest 4 жыл бұрын
I am completely aware of the firing pin/trigger relationship. I did not point it out for my information. I pointed it out for those who place a high importance on trigger pull. It is, after all, the point of a review.
@RockinRack
@RockinRack 4 жыл бұрын
@@HuntinTheWest I understand but I mentioned it because it it might have more to do with the rifle than the trigger. Unless you tried all those triggers on the same action and got different results.
@HuntinTheWest
@HuntinTheWest 4 жыл бұрын
@@RockinRack Did you listen to the comment on the triggers? Five. I had at the time of the video tried five. I have since had probably another five. About two in five meet the spec. The problem with your comment is if a trigger company is going to make a statement about how low the trigger will adjust it needs to do it in most if not all actions. For reference I have tried every other trigger I am aware of for 700s and clones and every single one of the other brands meets and almost always exceeds the advertised low setting and does it safely. I will not claim to know how many triggers you have tried in the number of actions you have shot but I have shot more than I can count. Trigger Tech Primary triggers do not meet the spec even close to what I would consider a requirement for it to be "the specification". Directly related to your statement Trigger tech has the ability to test on several actions to determine a true pull spec and obviously does not do that. Everyone who knows anything about trigger pull understands the relationship to the action or receiver it will be attached to. You have to buy a Special or diamond to get a trigger that will actually meet the spec. The bottom line is you can choose to do whatever you desire with the given information. If that choice is to not listen then that is fine.

$1300 No Thanks, before I would drop $1300 on that rifle I would have Randy Selby build me a rifle then you wouldn’t have any issues, he build the rifle, then makes a load for that gun and takes it and shoots each gun personally then you have a perfect rifle and load data that you can use out of the box !, Check him out on KZfaq The Real Gunsmith is his channel
@HuntinTheWest
@HuntinTheWest 5 жыл бұрын
Nice advertisement but there is absolutely no way you are building a rifle for under $1300 let alone one that shoots this well and at this weight. Lets do a little math. $400 for an action, $300 for a barrel blank, $250 for a stock, $130 for a trigger, $150 for quality bottom metal, $150 for a brake installed, and $300 for machine work. Those numbers are on the cheap side. In the end it is your money and you get to choose how to spend it.

Poor review, why cut down a rifle that's can shoot sub MOA and tell people to not spend $1300 on this .rifle. Have you priced a decent rifle lately. Unless you want the box store economy guns these guys are very competitive in price. produce a great product and don't need someone like this reviewing it. I have a Carbon Classic Best rifle I've ever owned and now plan on getting one of these. I want gun that shoots, not something that may or may not shoot. Go review bb guns .

Mike, I appreciate you taking the time to watch the video. I am not sure if you didn't watch the follow up videos, if you missed the point, or just flat out disagree. In any case my opinion will not change. If someone is going to be keeping shots under a few hundred yards I would recommend they buy a cheaper Savage or Tikka and spend the money saved on hunting tags or other more important gear. Having said that I think the Mesa is one of, if not the, best buys in rifles right now. I also have two Ridgelines I will be doing reviews on. I will advise the same for them. I view rifles as another tool I need for hunting and do not believe in spending more money just to be cool. I personally prepare myself and my equipment for taking longer shots so extreme accuracy is very important to me however when doing these reviews I am fully aware not everyone shares this need or desire. As already stated for those that have no desire to take longer shots I feel their money will be better spent elsewhere. Thanks again for watching.
