Asking one to clarify on a Bible verse is unreasonable for them. It's called being indoctrinated. I'm pretty sure they believe that God will bring people to them and they are not to seek out people themselves. That's why they just stand there and likely don't feel inclined to change this person's mind. Thus being said, the plain reading of the scripture is clearly against their teachings on Jesus, the Holy Spirit, God, blood, hell, bodily resurrection of Jesus, saved by grace and not works and so on.

@jimjuri6490 it's quite simple. Those that do not have faith in Christ will be judged by their own works. We know that no man can keep the law perfectly. Look at all the verses that talk about salvation, and you will see it is by grace through faith. The verse you provided is talking about faith and does not feature the word salvation or saved. It is saying that if your faith does not lead to good works, then that's an indicator it is a dead faith. A dead faith can not save. Hence, faith without works is dead. There's a lot of verses I can share to evidence this. Here are a few, and if you want a more comprehensive answer, I'm happy to share. John 6:28-29: Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent. Ephesians 2:8-10; For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast. That's why he digs into details. If the idea being presented by these people is that they are like him, he's responsible for showing them why that isn't the case. It's his responsibility as an intellectually honest individual put on earth by God for a kingdom purpose. Plus, an argument that can't be defended past a certain point that isn't the axiom of the entire perspective is likely flawed or incorrect. Most of the people he questions have flawed axioms, and hardly ever let him scrutinize the axioms of their beliefs. Seems like he's onto something and they don't like it 🤔

@ZackGraysson Well, there is a difference between trying to disprove other people's beliefs and addressing the beliefs of someone who identifies as Christian. Peter mentions the idea that false teachers and prophets will arise and deceive many. Paul mentions the idea that anyone who preaches a different Gospel will be accursed, so clearly we should be aware of those who present ideas that are incorrect from a Christian perspective, while identifying themselves as Christians who believe the gospel. God is not a God of confusion. As far a foolish arguments go, Proverbs 26:4-5 says the same thing, but produces the complete picture. Do not argue with someone according to their folly by stooping to their level, but answer their folly as their folly deserves. Obviously addressing foolish arguments rationally is not unbiblical. You see this in instances where Pharisees would ask him questions to try and poke at Him, and Jesus would answer them reasonably. Jesus didn't avoid conflict, he responded to conflict with truth and reason. As far as him just wanting publicity and attention, you'd have to demonstrate the basis for such a claim. If he wanted attention, it seems like He'd just tell these people that they're wrong, but instead he offers them the truth along with his questioning of their perspective. A main reason why the church at large is weaker today than ever before is because people seem to believe that conflict of perspective should be avoided at all cost. 1 Peter 3:15 is there for a reason, we should be able to defend our faith, hear untruthful perspectives, and approach those who present them not only with an attempt to understand their perspective, but to offer them the biblically truthful perspective as well, and you might say that we shouldn't, but I'd then ask, well just what do you think Matthew 28:20 entails? Argument free gospel sharing? Last I checked, the gospel isn't popular. The early church got put on trial for sharing it. To expect a roses and rainbows approach to spreading biblical truth isn't realistic. Do what you know how to do, with truth at the forefront, and God will handle the rest as he sees fit.

None of you are going to have any luck arguing with Jehovah's Witnesses here in the comments section. Why? Because their church teaches them to believe that they are the one true church, the true chosen people of God. There's a certain quality of martyrdom that this carries with it. It can make you feel like it's "us against the world". This further isolates the members. And then if someone does wrong they are shunned by the members of the church and their own family. This further isolates members. And then when they do what the rest of the church deems is correct, they are accepted back into the fold. This then forms a bond based on reward and punishment which then further isolates members.

Jesus was more than a man, He was a man and He was God and the Word, and the Creator since the beginning. Look at it like this simple example: water. Water exists in three forms: solid, liquid, and gas/vapor. If you have a block of ice and it melts and becomes liquid, then it's still water, it just changed form. The Father and the Son are different forms, but the same substance: God. This is just one example of the Trinity, there are many: length, width, height; past, present future; an apple core, flesh, and skin/peel. God is still God, but can come in different forms with different roles depending on the needs and circumstances at the time.

We believe Jesus is the Son of God and he is not the Almighty God, according to the scriptures, not through doctrines as erroneously stated.
