Folks this is SO Gorgeous-wow!!! I'm a new-ish shape note singer in Virginia. And I love your stripping it down to just 4 voices. Ethereal and goose bump bringing. I'm subscribing!!

Wow. I've sang a fair amount of Sacred Harp that I say has a "colonial" sound when briefly describing it to folks who haven't heard of it before. This sounds almost like something out of the Medieval times or a Gregorian chant. Very beautiful.

I agree that it's not the same sound as American (especialy Southern) Sacred Harp, but it's beautiful, and I don't think it's a bad for a regional sound to develop. It's a folk process, and who says that the Southern way is the "right" way to do it? I'd hate to see it lost, and we'll always owe the South for preserving it, but music will evolve its own way.

That said, it is interesting that this is obviously the same song as the "Tribulation" in the Sacred Harp (29b), yet something is changed so that it took me a moment to recognize it. This is the 7 shape Christian Harmony I assume? It wouldn't be in the Ingalls book, so must be.

Yes. In contrast to the Denson version, it has an alto part.
