I don't think lack of education is the problem (though that is certainly a problem). Rather the problem is indoctrination! People who are indoctrinated are not open to new ideas, or new information and they are very often afraid to encounter anything that may challenge their beliefs. I'm not saying that people shouldn't have conviction about certain ideas- that's a fundamental attribute of humanity after all- but in order to grow a person needs to challenge their beliefs, to test them, as a person who wants to develop a muscle will challenge that muscle with weights.

I lived in Ky from ages 5-12 & we said the Pledge of Allegiance & they said a prayer every morning over the intercom. I still think it’s weird & my mom took me to Church every Wed & Sunday. Now I stay away from Church & focus on having a personal relationship with who I believe to be my Creator. But these ppl claiming to be Christians don’t have anything in common with being a “Christian”. It’s ppl like them that give all Christians a bad rap.

What has changed are some among us that claim Christianity, but practice it in a way that isn't consistent with what the scipture says. It's not a new situation either. Adolf Hitler, and the Germans who followed him and obeyed his orders, murdered God! They proved they could do bad stuff, and God would not stop them, and today Arabs and Muslims do a lot of bad things, fight wars they claim in in the name of God, yet God does not lift a finger to stop them. I don't really know why Islamic Terrorists have such a strong faith if they know that God literally lets them get away with murder of innocent people! You know if God does not exist, then their is nothing for Muslims and Jews to fight about, as their God, whom they are fighting over, does not exist. There was no reason for Hamas to attack and kill Jews. The religious authorities in the Middle East used religion to oppress and enslave people, and they have lots of lunatic fanatics that commit violence in the name of God.

I travelled to Europe many years ago, and when in Italy, I visited the Vatican. What I saw was room after room of priceless riches... paintings, jewelry, art, sculpture. Selling just one of those paintings could have fed the poor, built homes, & provided health care for multitudes. That was when I realized the whole thing is a sham, and the more I see and hear so-called Christians being hypocrites, the more I rejoice that I never became a sheep in someone's flock.

It would have fed a certain number of poor for a short while and then they would have starved again and the paintings would be gone. You can't eat a painting after all, and priceless art works don't increase the harvest yields, and if you throw more money at the same amount of crops prices would go up, you would make some farmers wealthier for a time and then those vatican artworks would end up in private hands and the public would no longer get to see them.

Not only the Vatican; we took a trip through Spain in the 1990s and every few blocks in Madrid, there's ANOTHER CHURCH. and each one has its own collection of solid gold artifacts that are extremely valuable. The wealth taken from South America was redistributed back at home when the colonizers returned from the Americas.

There is much more gold that the Spaniards did not take out of the ground with their primitive methods, had the gold stayed in the ground, the natives would be no more wealthier than they are today. The Spaniards valued gold and when they mined it and spread it, they devalued it as its value is only in its scarcity. One of the reasons gold is scarce is because it is a dense metal, when the Earth formed, most of the gold sunk to the Earth's core, if we mined asteroids, gold would become much more abundant than it is today.

Politics is the best way to acheive that goal. Democracy is the enemy of theocracy so listening to the fanatics in the GOP talk about freedom is a revolting level of duplicity. They have the same idea of freedom as those who initially killed indigenous people enslaved others, forced conversions and marginalized anyone who doesn't get on board with their superstitious beliefs. And while being morally bankrupt, is undeniably one way, to secure ones personal religious freedom. The only other way is to have a secular democracy. They hate the second option and are quite vocal about that because they only want that freedom for one religion....so there is really only one viable option for the religious fundamentalists in the US. Theocracy."

Most refuse to reconcile where Jesus said he came not to abolish the Torah. And that if you love him you would obey him. That if you keep the commandments he would call you friend lol. They don’t keep Torah. Early Christian’s were intermixed with the Jewish community and lived as Jews. It was a sect of Judaism. Then Iranious and some others pushed paganism changing the day of the sabbath etc and departed from the faith. Still the modern church calls the scripture where Jesus will say to those who say “but lord did we not prophesy and cast out demons In your name? And he will say depart from me you that work iniquity”. They call it “the mystery of the iniquity workers”. 🤣 that’s all your Baptist Catholics Methodist etc getting tossed out of the kingdom for continuing in sin and not obeying G-d! How about the hundreds of bills that have been filed to ban transgender people, from using the bathroom or appropriate locker room, from living their lives, from transitioning, from receiving appropriate medical care, and encouraged by these right wing haters to kill themselves. The push to ban books that accurately depict our history of slavery and Jim Crowe laws. Is that enough "for instances?" The first woman speaking doesn’t know what she's talking about. People who never went to college/ university should probably not talk so authoritatively about it. My university had many religeous groups... including a few different Christian groups. None were banned. They met on campus and put on events that anyone could attend if they wanted.. What she is complaining about is that the administration nor the professors are allowed to cram religion down student's' throats or put students in the uncomfortable position of having to participate in a religion that is antithetical to their own beliefs and values.
