The peninsula of Anatolia (modern Türkiye) has had a huge variety of civilizations, religions and ethnocultural tribes. In this video, I'm gathering the Christians of this peninsula, their dances and the historical regions.
Enjoy a dance medley of 8 Pontic Greek, 5 Armenian, 4 Assyrian, 2 Cappadocian Greek and 1 Smyrniote Greek dances. All in just 14 minutes! 🤍

PS: Shoutout to my friend Ruben and Pierre for the Armenian and Assyrian lyrics respectively! Also, I'm sorry that I couldn't write the lyrics of all the songs, but I couldn't find them or understand them all (especially the Assyrian ones). My apologies if I have spelling mistake in the Assyrian songs, I recently learned the alphabet, so I'm not proficient yet. For any correction or any suggestion in lyrics, feel free to comment below and I will correct or add them.
Thank you for watching!! I hope my message is clear enough. Did you enjoy the video? Did I add your favorite ones? See you in the next episode! Stay safe and stay tuned!

As an Ethiopia Orthodox Christian my hear breaks every time I see the atrocities committed against our brothers and sisters. I pray for the Lord to judge for the genocides that was committed against his children! 🙏 Thank you for sharing this video. I have lived in Turkey and it is very interesting to see, how the Greek, Armenian, and Assyrians cultur and music has impacted the country. Though the Turkish language is dominant, the music, culture, and the majority of the DNA has remained pre-turkic era. Much love! ❤️

As a Turk, I was born in Antep. There are still Armenian traces in many places, especially in historical buildings. When I lived there and looked at those historical buildings, I always tried to look at them from the perspective of an Armenian, not a Turk. The dances and music in the video are still used, even the words in the Cappadocian melodies are still exactly the same. It is very sad that you are away from the lands that are precious to you, but on the other hand, thank you for leaving this culture to us. I hope that one day we will be able to sing, play and enjoy these melodies here again. Thank you Vasilis

Lots of love from an Assyrian. We love our Armenian and Greek brothers. My great grandparents are from Mardin where once Assyrians and Armenians were the majority living together as one people. As the genocide progressed, Assyrians and Armenians in the Diyarbekir Vilayet joined together in resistance against the Turkish and Kurdish Ottoman armies in fighting in the defence of Midyat, Iwardo (Gülgöze), Azakh (İdil), Basibrin (Haberli), Benebil (Bulbul), Beth-Debe, Hah, Hebob, Kerburan (Dergecit), and Zaz

@edps cupcake yes my brother/sister you are right. I am originally from Amed and I have 2 armenians friends. When they are with kurds they call themselves as Armenian. But when they meet with turks they identify themselves as Kurd. It's all because the racism and turkish fascism. Turk killed Armenians, Greeks, Assyrians, Pontos and now they slaughter Kurds.

@edps cupcake I was a Kurd, my great-grandfather saved two Armenian little girls by hiding them in the basement and looked after them as his adopted daughters until he got old and died. Although he was a Muslim, he never interfered with their religion. He saved 200 thousand Assyrian daughters from YPG ISIS in Syria. They were raping them. I love Assyrians / Armenians / Assyrians I'm sorry our grandfather betrayed you and they were punished for betraying you anyway I'm very good to you and will never be an enemy to you

Greetings from Assyria my brothers and sisters! In the Anatolian peninsula history unfolds, Assyrians, Greeks, Armenians of old. Whispers of empires, tales untold, In the land where ancient stories hold. In melodies that span the ages wide, Assyrian echoes, a cultural tide. Greek rhythms dance with a timeless pride, Armenian tunes, where traditions abide. Zerna, duduk and Kaval is where it's at, Folk dance rhythms, as the story molds. In the pulse of rave, ancient meets bold, A dance of souls, in a trance, untold! (Shlama Ashuria)

Thank you to my Godmother for sharing this video! I am Assyrian on my father's side. We are from the Urmia region. This is so clever! I am just overwhelmed by the creativity that went in to this video!!! I love watching dancing from the old country. I have a photograph my cousin Michael sent me of my Nana and Aunties dancing in their backyard in Illinois. I would like to point out that while you will see Assyrian women wearing scarves and headdresses: they are not required! We will not be killed for not wearing them. Hair coverings are beautiful and also useful. In times where you did not wash your hair every day like some ppl do now; covering your hair helped to keep it clean. Brushing your hair out daily brings the oils off your scalp and to the ends of your hair to keep them from drying out. Blessings to you for this stunning video! And thank you so VERY much for the ending! I am glad that you were not afraid to end it with the fire and the diaspora.
