Not a fan? Why cuz you're a christian? You know that satanic stuff is just an image. Tobias Forge is too intelligent to believe in satan or god for that matter. If christian rock was popular he'd probably go there, but no one likes that shit even though most Americans and rock stars believe in and worship god. Popularized satanic music is relatively new and Ghost makes great music so couple that with the satanic imagery people are starting to move toward and they (he) can make a great career now that the rock music scene has become stagnant. Don't feel guilty listening to Ghost, you can't go to hell even if all that heaven and hell stuff does exist.

An interesting bit of trivia about this album. They recorded the bulk of it at a studio in Nashville, but couldn’t get any local choirs to participate. The guys that came to the Nashville sessions flat-Out refused to sing the lyrics, so the band had to find a choir willing to do such blasphemous words, which they found in LA.

The energy at a Ghost concert is... unique, to say the least. You won't really find moshing or crowd surfing (outside of festival crowds and the odd attempt that gets shut down). What you will find is an unbelievably welcoming, supportive and all-ages crowd. I met a couple that brought their 5-year old, a few older kids and more than a few people old enough to be my parents, all in the pit. All there for the same thing - a great time at a great show. A fair few of their songs, in one way or another are about acceptance and togetherness, and for the most part the fanbase is (almost) sickeningly wholesome and embodies those ideals. If you show up alone at a show, and aren't silent, odds are you'll make friends in line/the pit, and end up in one of the various online fan communities for the band as well. An example of how the crowds are, bonus serenading of someone that, at most other bands' shows, wouldn't likely be in the pit. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jcdph8-Bls_GdXk.html As for the layered vocals/choir stuff... yes Tobias layers his vocals (particularly on their older albums), he did enlist the assistance of a choir for a few songs, and currently his backing musicians (the nameless ghouls), provide additional harmonies/backing vocals that in the past would have been assisted with backing tracks. They've really upped their live game alot with the addition of more ghouls, particularly in the harmony department and overall presence on stage. Vin you're right about the whole double entendre and layered messages in a lot of their songs, this one is no exception. As noted elsewhere, he does pretty blatantly spell out what the song is about before the song in the live shows. Not always as long-winded as this one, but worth a watch. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/erWajbx_ztiog2w.html

Adding to this, you’re doing yourself a disservice if you don’t see this band live. I’ve seen thousands of live performance (literally), and Ghost has hands down been the most amazing I’ve ever seen. And parroting the above, you will never see a front man of a “metal” band who goes out of their way for children. 30 second clip. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fMWdgLWExpvSlI0.html It’s worth watching. At the end of the show, he took her hand again and asked if she had a fun evening. When he did his orgasm spiel about monstrance clock, he looked at her and said “organism.” He’s amazing.

They suit small inside venues so well, saw them at a student union bar. To add to your comment of it being a different crowd, totally right. I can't mosh anymore, lest my knees escape from my legs, so I don't go anywhere near the front for most bands, but for this gig I was front and centre. I felt part of something, like everyone sang as one. Also Papa is fucking hilarious! And a real trooper, he had heart problems mid gig, took a 10 minute break then came back and finished, even made a jab at himself.

Live shows are...spiritually interactive? Papa/Copia/Forge has a charming stage presence and engages with the crowd in an assortment of entertaining ways. They really do a good job of creating that same sort of community vibe that people get from church, while still bringing the sex and drugs and rock and roll kind of swagger. This song closes the show and the swaying and singing along as one giant chorus is beautiful to witness. I would say the repetition in a number of their songs is deliberate, and meant for live shows, to allow for singalongs.
@ShadyLurker84

You should have seen the Hellfest live version where like 30 kids were singing on stage with them. "Cum together for Lucifer's son!" They always close their shows with this song - hence the repetitiveness (the crowd keeps singing long after they left the stage)

@janitor6669 5 жыл бұрын

@neonspec
@neonspec 5 жыл бұрын
@@janitor6669 That's nonsense. The lawsuit has literally nothing to do with it. Proof? Because Papa Emeritus is still a part of the story/show/music. His name is Papa Emeritus Nihil, he plays saxaphone and he's the father of the 3 Papas. The only difference now is that Tobias isn't playing him, he's playing the Cardinal. As for the Cardinal being boring? Couldn't disagree more. He's a natural evolution of Papa III and is just as entertaining in his own way as the others imo.

Gregorian chants are a form of plainchant which was possibly influenced by Jewish synagogue music and certainly heavily influenced by the Greek modal system. I cannot put into words how much I love this song ... or I guess I can because here we go; It's the perfect combination and amalgamation of instruments you don't typically hear in metal/hard rock music, it's the melodies and harmonies, it's the tempo, it's Tobias' beautiful voice alongside the choir, it's the reverb on the vocals that weirdly adds a massive layer of power to the performance, and it's the dark and uplifting soundscapes and moods meeting, colliding, and coming together as one.

I'm a "Ghost Fan" as you put it, but not to the point of obsession. To be honest, at first i was afraid to listen to their music because of all the satanic references. I think the loyalty comes from the fact that this is essentially the only new Rock Band to make it into the main stream... plus they have that Black Sabbath/Blue Oyster Cult throwback sound. I wouldn't consider myself rabid... It's just nice to have good music that isn't screaming in my ear. I recognize the uniqueness of this, and how we're probably never going to get another band like this again, so we're sort of witnessing history. It was like what Vin said in another video... when Smells like Teen Spirit by Nirvana would come on MTV, he would skip it because he didn't know he was witnessing something legendary... and that's the way it always goes. We never know the legacy until after the fact. I'm simply basking in it now. Plus, I do have an interest in Lucifer. I'd be lying if I didn't say that. You hear all this folklore around him, and the fact that they call him the bringer of light, the one who guides the lost... It's interesting to mull that over in my head. About as interesting as mulling over the concept of Jesus. I'd talk to Lucifer if he'd give me the time of day because I'd like to know his point of view on everything, from the fall, to what he's up to now. What he could do for me, and what that would mean. I also at the same time am attracted to christianity now because of you two folk, and want to explore that too. Lots of mixed emotions on that front. Also are you saying that masterbation is bad? Not every ejaculation needs a name, you know?

Afraid to listen? Afraid of what? Going to hell? If there was a god then sending you to suffer for eternity because u listened to great music by a guy who's interested in religion as well as the occult (Tobias' words) would be petty and unchristian beyond words. If there's a God and he loves us enough to sacrifice his own son, then I doubt he really expects us to worship and obey the way a book written many millenia ago by mortal men says we must. The bible was commissioned to keep peasants in line and create fear in committing crimes they weren't afraid to commit. Suffering for eternity is a great motivater to not break those commandments. Listening to Ghost and any other morally questionable music isn't anything to fear.

You guys are great, I love how passionate you are about Ghost! This song isn't LITERALLY about creating Lucifer's son/ the Antichrist; it fits into the "plot" of the album Infestissumam. Each Ghost album tells a story, and the story of Infestissumam is a dark, lascivious figure coming to earth to seduce and impregnate women and bring forth the apocalypse. Their albums are similar to old school horror movies like The Exorcist or The Omen, the creators of those movies don't REALLY want demons or the devil walking among the earth but it is fun to tell the story and feel that thrill of being scared. Monstrance Clock in particular is kind of like a satire on how not too long ago (and even in some communities today), rock music is considered the music of the devil, and also how many, many years ago (an unfortunately in some communities still today), women's sexuality was viewed as evil and of the devil (a very sad and unhealthy belief that has caused a lot of damage to the psyche of many women throughout history). Tobias sings about a Monstrance Clock because clocks sway back and forth, they have a rhythm. How do most people achieve orgasm? By either swaying or rubbing back and forth, like the pendulum of a clock. And Ghost concerts, also called "rituals", are really great! I hope you can make it to one some day! Anyways, I think you guys are great! Sori, you are adorable! I'm sorry if other Ghost fans have given you a hard time. Hey Vin and Sori... I just saw my 4th Ghost Ritual live in Vegas on Sat night and the show was nothing short of spectacular!! I was able to get in the crowd up close to the stage. The energy of the crowd was intense but it was pure joy! It was like a religious experience for us fans. The crowd was young and old, everyone was cool and easy going. No moshing or pushing. Everyone sang their asses off throughout the whole show! It was an amazing production and sound was excellent. Cardinal Copia (Tobias) was so funny. He does these talks that are hysterical just to prove they arnt serious. He wants us to be happy and feel joy at his shows. I am over 50 and I adore this band. Best thing to happen to rock music in many years! You guys should go see them. You will totally trip out at how awesome they are and how cool and diverse the crowd is. Thank you for reacting un-biased all these great Ghost songs... Now to do either "Witch Image" or "Dance Macabre." Keep rocking!!! \m/\m/ I love you guys!!

Again, it's really fun watching you two break down Ghost songs. As an atheist (but a generally good person, I like to think), I approach all of this as lore. It can be entertaining, insightful, both, or neither. I find Ghost incredibly entertaining, and your take on their music to be entertaining and insightful. Kudos. Also, regarding Ghost live - I just went to my first "ritual" on Nov 16th (their biggest headlining show to date!) and it was amazing. Kids, adults, rockers, prog fans, pop fans, even some folks that were clearly just into the theatre of the whole experience. There's a TON of humor, positive messaging, and even self-effacing gags in their show. Their appeal wouldn't be so broad if they really came across as evil - it's more a humorous commentary on the cliches of religion and society at large (check out "Mummy Dust" for a tune about Mammon) within the frame of a hugely entertaining rock show. It's gorgeous.

I've been to couple of their shows and i'd say the overall energy is feel-good? even with the dark stage show & masks the music itself is so light and groovy that it presents in a really positive way so much so that when i saw them at Download 2012 i was in shock at how much pure joy they managed to stir in me (i wasn't even there to listen to them, we were sat on the festivals grass and I HAD to get up and go watch them properly because they had me enthralled.) So i recommend for sure!

I've been watching your Ghost reaction videos lately and today I decided to comment following the question "what makes Ghost's fan tick?": Well, in my case I heard of Ghost through the Internet or saw pictures and thought immediately they'd be a Black/Death metal band or whatever and never bothered to listen to their music until january of this year, and boy: wish I listened to them way before... better late than never I guess. Anyways, when I heard that they were nothing like I pictured them judging by their theatrics, I immediately fell in love with their 70s-80s sound, catchy rhythms and outstanding musicianship and lyricism. Even more when I discovered that all was done by Tobias Forge. And on top of that, don't know if because I discovered them in a very bad/low moment of my life but their music "touches my soul" and makes me feel like I've found enlightenment in a religious way, although I'm neither christian or satanic. Going to see them next week here in Spain, pretty pumped about it.

I really enjoy your videos - especially to the Ghost ones. I used to be a Christian myself (went to a Christian Boarding School, did missionary work, etc.) but have since changed my views on religion and belief as a whole. I started watching your videos expecting to see outrage and criticism, but to find that you like Ghost songs and give intelligent breakdowns and interpretations has really given me more perspective into how I translate the song meanings for myself - and I really just like the conversations and interaction between you two. Thank you for that. I don't know if you have yet, but you really should see a Ghost show live. The crowds aren't aggressive at all and both times I've seen them, I've met some of the nicest people. Not to mention, they put on a spectacular performance (you should see the video of this song live at Hellfest on KZfaq). Thanks for all you're doing and just wanted to let you know I appreciate you both!

Jesus used to keep sinners close and kept temptation close. With that same logic, as long as you can see the good in ghost and value them for their good music, there’s no reason you as a Christian can’t listen to ghost without falling to any satanic temptation.

I'd love to know your opinion on this not pleasuring yourself thing you mentioned. There are some people who can't have relationships, (those with certain physical or mental disabilities for example). Do they not still have desire? Do they not still have those urges of self love? Would it be classed as sinful for them to, you know, sort themselves out? I'm sure jesus bashed one out every now and then.

I just did some research of this song. Monstrance Clocks were common during the Renaissance Era, these clocks used for church rituals especially Catholics. Here that I can understand why both of you will not saying the chant. "Lucifer's Son" during sermon like lyric. As founder of Ghost, Tobias Forge (singer) stated about the band's themes. Band satirized organized religions especially Catholics in their songs. This song is like their other song, "He Is" - don't know both of you reacted to that song yet. "He Is" - newest video showing Papa (Tobias) being like a Southern Evangelist Pastor doing the "healing" at a church & baptizing young women at a nearly lake. This video is kinda funny to me because I am raised as a Southern Baptist knowing after the explanation from Forge let me know it is all a satire.

I'm a Ghost fan and I enjoy your reaction videos. You guys would enjoy going to a Ghost concert. I just took my wife to her first ritual (Concert) at The Forum on the 16th of this month and it was amazing. The speech Tobias gave to the crowed about the struggles of life and pushing through that, truly did touch many fans there that night. It was a beautiful speech which made several fans there that night shed a tear, and my wife being one of them. About Ghost fans, I've met several of them at their shows and online (Instagram), and let me tell you, we are a tight community who try to help each other out. Just two days ago, we all started a GoFundMe page for a Ghost fan to be able to go to her first Ghost fan after having a car accident and being unable to pay for it herself. The whole fan community came together and helped that girl out to go to her first ritual. I personally don't know how many other fans would do that but from what I can say, Ghost has great fans and I'm proud to be a part of a great fan base. Please Vin and Sori, go check out Ghost live. You guys would like their performances and their whole vibe live. Wouldn't be surprised you guys would become Ghost fans after a show. Give it a shot guys. Plus, they always play "Monstrance Clock" as their closing song for all their shows. A nice way to end a night of fun by telling people to go home and give each other orgasms let it be by themselves or with their significant other. If you guys do go to one of their shows, please record your experience. The tour ends on Dec 15th, check them out. You won't regret it.

There's an article in forbes magazine from today with tobias, talking about the shows and what he envisioned those show to be like. They are playing some big arenas soon too, and tobias states it was difficult to take the theatre show into a big arena, but that he loves being able to make that happen. You both should definitely catch a show sometime.

Good choice guys - thanks for listening to the viewers What makes Ghost fans tick? - Well for me, I find them refreshing, a nod to sounds and influences of the past not often heard now in modern music ... but above all I appreciate the time Tobias has taken to create very consistent well thought out, theatrical entertainment, You don't see much theater these days in music, and I think that sense of story, tongue in cheek fun, engagement with the crowd, humour, great songs that people love to listen to, and a sound that is all their own that still proudly wears it's influences on its sleeve .... For me it goes a lot deeper than faux-satanism :)
