Zenith is one of the best Ghost songs. It has the memorizing sound of Monstrance clock, heaviness of Cirice, and feel of year zero. The cover is another play on the horror movie Rosemary's baby. We are ghost- Nosferatu, Majesty- King Kong etc.

You got the meaning of the lyrics pretty much nailed. Many of Ghost's songs are about political views and society in itself; they're not just simply about satanism and that's it. Even the songs that are veiled in occult themes usually have a deeper meaning behind them, if you pay attention. This is probably partly why so many people keep telling you Ghost is not really satanic. They mostly just use satanism as a vessel to mock people's extremely limited world views. Many of their songs even poke fun at the Devil and satanism itself, such as "Idolatrine", which is a song very literally just about flushing your belief in both God and Satan down the toilet. Of course, you can always argue that if Satan is real, then would he do exactly that to fool you and convince you to follow him, but that's a point that can't really be argued one way or another.

Yeah I think Meliora's my favorite lyrically. It's very thought provoking. Not as obviously and blatantly Satanic as the first 2 albums and not as personal or heartfelt as Prequelle, but Meliora's lyrics have this thought provoking quality to them while being anthemic and memorable at the same time. Awesome album.

The song is about the rise and fall of mankind and the overall lack of importance of humanity in the grand scheme of things. "We conquered the magic" means overcoming superstition (though some still ascribe to that sort of thing... here's looking at you guys) for reasoning. "We counted the stars" means an understanding of science and the universe, more specifically the scope of the universe. "Deciphered the clockwork" refers to invention and innovation. "Enacted this farce" proving that in the long run it is completely pointless. "Now and for always a perpetual rise" humanity is always getting bigger, growing stronger, growing smarter, making new innovations. "A fall of illusion your Zenith fades into eternity" one day we will realize that despite all the "important things" we accomplished humanity will die out and this zenith of ingenuity and power that humanity reached will mean nothing with the rolling on of time and the passage of the millennia. The "world without end" means the universe or existence. There will always be something, but that something will not be us and our ZENITH (the pinnacle of human evolution/innovation/enlightenment whatever you wanna call it) will fade into eternity remembered by none.

I believe that although it may not be directly present in all of their lyrics it can be argued that all of Ghost's songs are cautionary tales - there's an implicit sense of ambiguity and carefulness that I think goes hand in hand with their whole motif.

The song is about mankind's sort of arrogance in thinking that we are at the zenith of knowledge and science, And even though we feel ourself to be so enlightened in how the whole existence/nature functions we yet feel empty and unfulfilled inside, so we "cling to the light" of science and progress to "keep the shadows" of this unfulfillment and emptiness at bay.

I think this song is about humans. We are constantly trying to reach perfection through technology and as a side product, missing the most important things in life. Technology has brought us so much happiness and help, but also thanks to it, we destroy the nature and alienate ourselves from the connection to a higher source. Our spiritual side and the connection to the nature. We think we are getting better, but we are lost to ourselves. If you think about this song as a God's perspective, it all makes sense. You see the humans trying to climb up, from the shadows we created, to light. And as a by product, we are losing our true goals. This "help you god' - line could even be a line from God. God says to men that help you" God", as technology being the men's new God. It's somewhat ironic that we try to enhance our quality of life and prolong our life span with technology. And as a result, we are degrading the quality of life and the life span of the life on earth. I don't know... But this song is to me a very relegious song. I don't see any sing of satanist messages. More like a wake up call to all of us. And by the way, react to Metallica, Bleeding me.

Ghost is essentially a one-man show. Tobias Forge writes all of the music, plays the different instruments that you hear on the albums and vocals. He created the papa characters, the nameless ghouls are people that rotate and play for the band at different times. Anytime that you watch a nameless ghoul give a interview, it is always Tobias Forge. The man really is a one-man show, he just needs people to fill in the spots and play.

I LOVE YOU GUYS!! I wanted to offer some insight..Zenith is my favorite song from Ghost after listening to them since 2012..Meliora, is about mankind and about their relationship with a deity, be it god or Satan or whatever they do choose. That being said, this album isn't about a coming of the antichrist or the presence of the devil, but rather humanity reaching its peak and the spiral downwards..it's more of a social comment than anything. Zenith is about THE peak, our achievements (conquering an "understanding" of religion, developing a system of time, etc.) and mostly about how we think that we're getting better and better whereas we are actually building the architecture of our downfall, consumed by materialism and greed and pride of achievements rather than living life as a whole. Keep doing Ghost songs, I've loved every video so far!

This song is an amazing piece of work. It's about the development of humanity and our continuous rise. How every age shows pride in its development, thinking that nothing more is to be learned only for a subsequent age to look back upon and regard its ignorance. People who think we are at our zenith deluded by our wisdom learned, yet as we continue learn and discover, what we believe to be right is found to be wrong, and so this zenith fades into eternity.

The "Ghoul Writer" is usually Tobias. I believe he's written almost every Ghost song excluding 2 or 3 (and covers of course). He's the mastermind for sure and then every now and then the other Ghouls in the band will contribute ideas too. I really like Zenith. Not one of my absolute favorite Ghost songs but it's a good track. Interestingly, on the original version of Meliora, Deus In Absentia was the final song. It wasn't until they put out a deluxe version of the record that they added Zenith to the end of it. I'd love to see you guys react to an entire Ghost record particularly the latest one Prequelle which imo is their best yet. Also, if you're interested in Nietzsche and the connections between his philosophy of God is Dead, fascism/Nazism, the superman and so on, check out Marilyn Manson's Antichrist Superstar record. It's chock full of references and allusions to that type of stuff. Peace

Tobias has said that the album Meliora is about the absence of God and Prequelle is about the return of God. Zenith came in between the two albums and I think it can be seens as describing the moment that religious beliefs in the middle ages gave way to the modern scientific worldview. The Zenith he talks about is the zenith of religious beliefs that will now fade into eternity. Then comes the song Rats and describes how religion returns to the world "in times of turmoil". All from the perspective of Satan of course :)

For the longest time, Tobias Forge was unknown. He was only known as Papa Emeritus. However, at some point (I don't remember exactly when), a former guitarist sued him for breach of contract for allegedly trying to take over the band and make it about him. As a result of this lawsuit, his name became known.

Just about anything by Death really. I've listened to, and loved, every single album they have released and have been since I was around 13-14. Empty words always hits me right in the feels.

Please make a reaction video to MOONSPELL's "Tenebrarum Oratorium [ Andamento I ]" & "Tenebrarum Oratorium [ Andamento II ]" from their 1994 EP "UNDER THE MOONSPELL"... (not to be confused with the re-recorded versions featuring the 2007 compilation "Under Satanae").

If Sori likes Ghost she should check out a 1981 band called "Mercyful Fate". Ghost "drinks" a lot from them ,the lead singer is King Diamnond who also as a solo project called ....King Diamond ;)

I'd love to hear your thoughts on monstrance clock- but if you cover it you should watch the live show introduction since it's the one song where they always spell out their intentions first.
