This is my lifelong dream, is to go to England and see Downton Abbey. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to do it because I’m disabled with my back and can’t fly so thank you very much for showing me. I’m at the age 68 that going to see things like this is really a joy, it’s really a joy at any age but I have the whole series of Downton Abbey. I even bought the book on the history.🇺🇸

I’ve been to so many of the places you are visiting now and I travel from Oregon, USA. I’d love to live in England. The architecture and history draw me there every year since 1998, sometimes twice a year. My ancestors came from England, one being the mayor and sheriff of Norwich in the 1530’s and another left England to come to America and was a signed of the Declaration of Independence. There is always a strong pull to get me across the pond every year since 1998. Love it. Love your videos too. Thank you

Visit the Warwick Castle (it’s more like en enormous stately home really!), I’m sure you’d love it, as well as the old Leycester hospital in Warwick (now a museum). I know you were in Warwick recently in your previous vlog and did not get a chance to see the caste, but it’s absolutely lovely inside! And the grounds around are great to explore too on a sunny day :)

There are so many great estates that I want to visit. I love the history of Highclere. I would love to see Chatsworth. The view where Chatsworth appears to float on the water is visually stunning. Plus, the sun catching the stone makes Chatsworth look golden. The Royal Crescent in Bath is beautiful.

OMG! Highgrove too!!!? Aren't you the luckiest ! We were at Highgrove a year ago, toured the gardens and had afternoon tea there, this was while the queen was still alive. Terbury is beautiful ❤

Oh you will adore the Christmas at Highclere book it is a wonderful comforting read. Just got it down from my bookcase to reacquaint myself with a recipe. The seville orange polenta cake is divine and truly scrumptious and moreish. I have mine topped with creme fraiche, so it becomes tangy and sweet. Mind you I was pleased to come across mine in bookshop here in UK reduced to £19.99....win win eh

I remember the shaker house my ex and I had…and all I can think of?? Boy that must be something else to heat!? Charlie puts so much thought and detail into everything he does for you Josie. ❤🎄❄️ Botanist, is a great description of Charlie. He knows his facts. It pays to geek out on what seems to be unimportant factoids that you and your home have benefited from. Looks like paying attention to nonsense has paid off. Cheers to you Charlie. I’m a firm believer that he would have a very successful podcast with his knowledge and strong attention to details. He could have once or twice a month with solo podcasts, you and Lala could be cohosts on occasion along with guests that Charlie sees fit. For example, he could interview the local farmers and discuss in larger details of them not having their meats sold in the larger stores. Nice long podcasts as well.

LOL- I love how you and Charlie defined a town size by how many pubs they have. I think if they have 6 pubs that's a fair size town. I wouldn't call it a village, that would have one pub, maybe. IMHO. Funny stuff either way.

I completely agree that the outside of Highclair is just as grand as in Downton Abby but that the inside is much smaller than what it appears in Downton Abby from my experience touring the place. x

Have you been to Hever castle in Kent, former home of Anne Boleyn. They have a lovely Christmas tree event each year and the rooms look so festive. Also we stayed at an old hotel recently in Sussex called BailiffsCourt. I think you would love it. We stayed in a four poster suite! That one was well situated for visits to Arundel castle and Chichester. I think spring is the best time to go or early summer as they have an outdoor heated pool, pretty gardens and it’s coastal.

I wish i had help decorating. I put a tree up this weekend with my brother’s help. Today I played with the branches. Tomorrow I hope to add the ribbon. Usually I have youngsters who help decorate but they’re responsible and grown and are decorating their own homes.

Enjoyed the vlog will definitely visit Highclere in the summer. Some I would suggest to visit in the later future as they are abit far from you are ; Penshurst Place and Gardens & Hever Castle & Gardens ( Anne Boleyn childhood home) both have beautiful grounds & worth the visit ❤

Oh my goodness you guys should visit Lyme Park in Cheshire! It’s a gorgeous manor house they used to film Mr Darcy’s “ Pemberley “ in the 1996 BBC series Pride & Prejudice. I visited in October last year and they even have a costume room you can go and try on period outfits then walk around the manor in them. So fun!
