I remember studying how different countries celebrate Christmas as a kid in school. I always thought Santa Lucia Day sounded so magical and lovely! Leather ruler/bracelets are great! I have a light-colored one. Happy Santa Lucia!

The sun turning sounds like a ancient phrase from when the earth was thought to be at the centre - amazing how things like this stick through the years/centuries. We have a lot of old phrases still in use in the UK so it's really nice to hear ones used in other countries.

What an awesome gift and what a neat idea! Someone had a lightbulb moment with that invention. I hosted a student from Norway 30 years ago. We have remained close friends. I have enjoyed learning the culture and traditions of Norway. I also have a beautiful sweater from Norway...handknit by Agnethe's aunt. I am enjoying your videos! 💕

I can only say, if candles are involved......please let Arne light them! I think you are safe. I thought the tradition is for young girls to wear the candles. I may be wrong since crazy things happen in these days 🤣!!! I wish you would do an advent calendar for me. So far I have loved everything minus the dog treats. If the treats were like the ones my friend makes her dog (a peanut butter cookie like recipe cut into dog bone with the cutter I gave her one Christmas), then maybe 😂! What an excellent find. I usually have to hunt for my tape. It would be fantastic to just wear it! Good job Arne! Wonder what is in store for you Carlos for tomorrow. Your calendar is scaring me time wise. My knitted projects are not done yet with so little time.....crunch time!

I use a tin like that for sewing pins. If you put a small magnet inside, they are less likely to spill, and easy to clean up if you do accidentally knock it off the table when it's open.

Yesterday I got a bit distracted by work and forgot to thank you for your kind words about my Mum..I had meant to finish the rest of her cooking advice in a comment . She told me that no recipe is written in stone …..except for deep fried doughnuts that recipe you have to follow exactly. My Grammie Amelia was the Village expert renowned for her doughnuts and mum felt that she never reached her mother in law’s standards. But my sister Alice and I agreed months ago that we enjoyed eating the greasy , rolled in sugar,crunchy bits of doughnut holes that she fried for us. Well I know for a fact how wonderful your gift is Carlos. My mother bought me one in a yarn shop here in The Netherlands this past August. I love mine!!! And it gets more beautiful the more you wear it. I have it on every day. I am going to so miss this countdown and don't want to think about it being over. I love that the comment today was about Dolly Parton because it was announced today that we will be making Moderna aka “The Dolly Parton Vaccine” here in Melbourne, Australia! I thought I must tell Arne and Carlos 😊 It’s a business partnership with Moderna and our state government. It will take 2 years to build the facility but it means other mRNA research and development can happen here as well as producing the Moderna vaccine. … Also love the energy today in the video and your excitement about eating more cakes later on 😀

yes, please - more Setesdal and other areas of Norway, as time and budget permits - in Canada, the solstice is Dec. 21 this year - but while the sunrises are still getting later, the sunsets have stopped shortening and now starting to get later as of today!

Our very Swedish church did "kidnap caroling" in the middle of the night on St Lucia. Standing outside someone's home singing Christmas carols until they let you in or the neighbors called the police. Then on to the next house with the new carolers and more hot chocolate and cookies. I don't know if the tradition was Scandinavian or just my parents and their friends warped sense of humor.

Glue a magnet to the bottom (on the outside) of the tin and it will make a great pin holder. I laughed so hard when Arne compared Carlos to Iris Apfel. So funny. He needs much larger eyeglasses to look like Iris. Happy St. Lucia’s day! Looking forward to tomorrow. Gail K./USA

We call them “straight pins” or “sewing pins”. Also, Carlos, you should not feel bad about the match incident. I’ve noticed Arne also puts spent matches right back in the box. So it could have happened to either of you.
