I wonder if you could drill little recesses for your lights to sit in so they will be more flush and you get a smother end result. I love the slight up cups. They are just special.

This is very cool, thank you for the tutorial. I am wondering though - wouldn't drilling a hole through the vacuum sealed stainless steel completely ruin the insulation? I would imagine that the vacuum seal gets broken and immediately fills with air, making it unable to keep liquids hot or cold for very long? Wondering if I'm missing something here, because I'd love to try this, but I'm honestly not sure if it's worth it to me to have lights but not have the benefit of hot or cold drinks....? Thanks!

Unfortunately it does compromise the vacuum seal when you drill a hole. I do know there is a company that makes molds to hold the battery pack on the bottom of the tumbler. I can't remember the company.

I love this ! What did you do for the final step. You said you were going to go do something and then come back (to cover the lights but not make them completely smooth) what exactly did you do?

Thank you so much! I did end up getting it as smooth as possible with epoxy but just kept the bulbs a little bumpy. I was going to make it completely smooth with just coats of epoxy but when I got to the point where just the bulbs were just poking out I really liked it. It reminded me of an actual Christmas lights.

It's actually a certain type of tumbler. Its called a strawbler from the stainless steel depot. It comes with the bottle like that. It's a place for a foldable metal straw. 😊

Hi, So I'm not a cup maker but saw this one and thought it was so cute and i was going to forward it to my friend who is one. But then I saw you use that cute little red table vacuum you called it. I know this is an older video, but do the light strains not get messed over time from screwing and unscrewing the bottom? I’m getting ready to make one and I’m scared it’ll mess the cord up.

Have you tried to tape the battery pack inside when applying your epoxy? That's what I do. I just use painter's tape, so it's easy to remove. I really hope that helps.

@Moonlight Custom Creations I'm having trouble with the bottom I wish there was a way I can show you what I'm struggling with. Everytime I screw the bottom on the cup it cuts the lights off.

What is the name of the glue that you used with the UV light?

I used uv resin. You can find it on Amazon. I now use resin rockers uv resin. I just get it off of their website.

Consider using some sun block on your hands when you are using that UV light to attach the lights.

I sand the cup down with 80 grit sandpaper and wipe the tumbler down with 91% alcohol. Then you can continue with spray paint. Waterslide paper is a type of paper you can print images out on. Instead of using vinyl. I use Hayes waterslide paper and get it off of Amazon.
