here is my what i eat in a week at christmas!! spending time with family, relaxing & eating ALL of the yummy christmas foods. i also opened up about how i've been feeling recently and dealing with grief during the holidays, which sucks. i hope this can help some of you to know that you're not alone. love u always.

I think a lot of people struggle with trying to put their eating habits into a category/box i.e. vegetarian etc - but at the end of the day noone's eating habits (preferences even) should have to fit into a box (and you shouldn't worry about what you eat not fitting into a category) and its about what you want to eat and what is best for you

I also lost my mum when I was 16, I'm now 24 and I still struggle with Christmas, the first 3 or 4 Christmas's I tried to put on a happy face and pretend I was having a good time and it made me feel worse, I not alternate between having my partner with me and being alone for Christmas, this year I was alone and I had a lovely day reading, eating good food and having a really long bubble bath, I've realised it really helps me to have pressure to live up to other people's expectations 😊 hope you still had a good Christmas overall and try not to give into the pressure, it's okay to not be okay and you don't have to be happy just because it's a holiday

I relate so so much to your eating meat again updates! I went vegetarian at 8 y/o & have had anorexia since I was 12 (vegan for 3 years during that time now i am 21) ANYWAY! Eating fish & chicken again when I crave it has been a HUGE game changer for both my mental & physical health. plus it means that I dont have to over plan or over think my food

Re. the rice cookers.... wayyy easier with a rice cooker I reckon!! They don’t always last that long as far as appliances go but defs worth a try! Btw, next year will be 11 years as a vegetarian for me (think crocodile was the last meat I ate lol rubbery salty chicken vibes) but so impressed you’ve decided to listen to your body and eat meat again whenever you feel like some ☺️ Take care of yourself. Ive recently been diagnosed with leukaemia so christmas has been hard for me this year as i’m starting treatment but its made me so great full for my family, friends and loved ones as ive received the most love and support. Christmas night has the highest call volume for beyond blue and similar hotlines. I think people underestimate the pressure of the holidays, I know some people find it fun and exciting but it is okay to feel down too.

Happy Christmas and thank you for being so honest and i hope you had a lovely time even though it’s also a really tough time 💛 Just wanna say I started eating meat last year for a v similar reason! I went pescatarian for all the wrong reasons (restricting!) and for my recovery it’s helping immensely to put all foods back on the table with no restrictions - I’m so glad i did. I feel like I’m relearning food now and though I’m mindful of eating less meat + fish to help the environment, I’m not taking it out of my options completely bc it wouldnt be good for me right now to do that. It’s refreshing to hear someone else talk about this because i dont know anyone else who has gone veggie/vegan for the purpose of restricting (though I’m sure there are many more people who have) so thank you for talking about your experience and reasonings!
