He was 79 yrs old (considered heavyweight at 225 most of his life), i was 22 yrs old and at the V.F.W. one night to visit him and my aunt when i came into town. He was in the bathroom when i walked in, i was talking to my great aunt and these 3 iron workers started giving her a very hard time (she was elderly and the bartender). I tried being nice to them and told them she was my aunt and to please show her respect. Uncle Robert came out of the bathroom and was also kind to them, told them this is my sister you're speaking to like that. They cussed at him and in the matter of LESS than 3 seconds these 3 fellas were knocked out cold viciously !! Never in my life will i ever forget that moment and how fast, powerful and accurate. The 3 men spent a while in our local small town hospital, broken orbital bones, broken jaws, missing teeth. My point is yes, we certainly do know how to keep that power and instinct as long as we are alive. It's natural and never leaves one.

Interesting that as smart and well-spoken as Howard Cosell was during his life, he used a non-word or non-term "knocker-outer" in reference to Muhammad Ali (or Cassius Clay as Ali was known back then) when he said that Ali was not known as a one-punch knockout fighter. The term Cosell should have used is, of course, "knockout fighter" in that Ali in his boxing career was never a one-punch knockout fighter.

enlighten09 Although not a prototypical, classic boxing body, let me assure you that along with heart and determination my uncles body was an asset, not in the classic sense however his strong legs were the foundation of his power, the was he was able to bob and weave from a couch making himself a seemingly small target so that his opponents were punching down at him, he turned what is usually a negative having a short reach into a positive because of his unusual ability to derive leverage and his short arms were an asset with regards to in fighting, he could generate great power from punches that traveled little more than inches.....like a sports car that can go 0-60 in mere seconds......yeah Mike his body was the genesis for his success. His body never failed him.....it supported his stamina, it was the chin that never failed him.....I share the genes and know the benefits.......don't under estimate the chassis that went along with the heart and strong mental composition......it was the complete package that made him so difficult to reckon with.
