Christopher Buckley on new book, Trump's "disgraceful" comments

Christopher Buckley is putting aside political satire for religious fiction. His new book, "The Relic Master," is a comic tale of 16th century rascal mercenaries who cash in on what they claim are the bones and possessions of saints. The story begins with the obsession over the Shroud of Turin, which many believe is the burial cloth of Jesus Christ. Buckley joins "CBS This Morning" to discuss his book and why he thinks Donald Trump is a demagogue.

I love Charlie Rose...Christopher Buckley is such a bratty cakes...I really like his easy, smooth personality. Gawd, I miss his dad.

Wish something was actually said about the book "Relic Master" besides mentioning the title. Sounds interesting, but we'll never know. This is too much inside baseball. So Charlie and Christopher go way back. Save that for between the breaks chatter.

I clicked off the video but I had to come back. This is so annoying. Buckley is trying to tell a story but every second one of the 14 hosts of the show has to chime in with an interjection of a fake laugh. TV is terrible, now. Let someone have a moment, let something happen, don't just ruin it out of fear that your ADHD audience will tune out if they aren't overstimulated at any moment.

I have read all of his political satire novels; I found them to be thoroughly entertaining and worth every page. Once he quit writing in such a genre I have found him to be a pompous, elitist, self-important, east coast lefty and thus completely indigestible. I do miss the times when he was likable.
