I am re-watching Hitchens debates. It blows my mind that people like D'Souza and Turek have ever been taken seriously enough to think they could argue at anywhere near the level as this man. He just makes them look silly.

+Heywood Yabloome Theres a difference between rude and blunt. He just doesnt sugar coat his words in fear of offending people. But he doesnt do it with the purpose of offending, its just the truth.

.. sometimes people get stabbed and the perpetrator will get a solicitor to plead mitigating circumstances (diminished responsibility) to get a lesser charge of 'manslaughter' rather than 'murder' - to the victim and their families it makes no difference whatsoever. Rude = blunt, the purpose is to offend - the other approach is tact and there is a difference. As for 'truth', that is the issue being debated from people's differing perspectives. Take this up to political and national levels - that's were conflicts and wars start.

If you don't see the greatness of God then all the things that money can buy become very exciting. If you can't see the sun you will be impressed with a street light. If you've never felt thunder and lightning you'll be impressed with fireworks. And if you turn your back on the greatness and majesty of God you'll fall in love with a world of shadows and short-lived pleasures.

Sir, your “best” years CAN BE at this time or in your future. The years that you lived under a celestial dictatorship are valuable, in that you have direct evidence not of deity but of the evils conjured up by the devotion to unquestioning belief without evidence, without rationality, and with the embrace of unquestioning obedience. Now that you are free of the arrogance of ignorance, live as though you are living with a free mind, a liberated mind, a mind able to confess, without shame or fear of punishment, that you do not know what you do not know. Now, go on and spread the words. Not the Word.

You losers sure love your loser Hitch. Hitch who pretends to know the bible as he screws up on it over and over again including what faith means biblically. --"Faith is the surrender of the mind, it's the surrender of reason, it's the surrender of the only thing that makes us different from other animals. It's our need to believe and to surrender our skepticism and our reason, our yearning to discard that and put all our trust or faith in someone or something, that is the sinister thing to me. ... Out of all the virtues, all the supposed virtues, faith must be the most overrated”-- Christopher Hitchens Now, look at what biblical faith really means that Hitch the liar didn't even look at: Biblically, faith means trust. It's a trust by evidence seen. God asks that we prove things. To reason. To get knowledge. To study. God has nothing to hide. We develop trust from what is seen, and that which is not seen yet is trusted also because of the trust built up from what is seen. It's much like a human relationship. We don't trust much until a person has gained that trust from what is observed. The difference is though, God is not limited to human powers. He created us. Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. crossexamined.org/biblical-faith-vs-blind-faith/ www.truthortradition.com/articles/what-does-the-bible-say-about-faith www.revisedenglishversion.com/Appendix/16/Faith_is_Trust www.truthortradition.com/articles/faith-a-confident-expectation-of-gods-promises-coming-to-pass www.truthortradition.com/articles/hebrews-1-11-and-faith Hitchens always went into evasive word antics to avoid key questions like how we got the creation of the universe. Real science says nothing does nothing. Real science says if there was something there already it must fit with the evidence of what we know. We know the 1LT says there's a conservation of energy. It can change forms and neither can be created or destroyed. Creation cannot happen by natural means. The 2LT has various aspects, one being the universe is winding down, entropy. Usable energy is becoming less usable, so at one point usable energy was at its max. This all points to a supernatural creation, by a supernatural creator at a certain point in which matter, space, and time were created. When I read how it can happen otherwise, ALL the fools resort to science-fiction. Once a supernatural creation is accepted, then the next step is finding proof of what supernatural power did it. We can't even get science without God. The laws of nature only can come from a Lawgiver, God. Life only comes from life. Law of biogenesis. God is the reason for us and all we have. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gM99pN1_xL-3iIk.html The odds are NOT there. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jZePfqiHxqndkXU.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r71pmsSo38Cwo58.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/msqRpLam2dqZkas.html

Assuming he exists - the third parameter is that he is all knowing. But there in lies the problem - as I've been saying since I was a child... he CAN'T be all 3 - it's illogical - if he's all knowing and CHOSE to create man KNOWING that the different races would forever try and kill each other / KNOWING that there would be different branches of religions who believed in him which would try and kill each other - let's start with the Protestants and the Catholics and move on from there / KNOWING that there would be genocides and babies would die of starvation / KNOWING that his apparently chosen people would suffer and die by the millions / KNOWING his creation would in turn create weapons which would annihilate not only whole cities filled with men, women and children, but also his other creations. KNOWING all this and being ALL LOVING .... he went ahead anyway and created till his little heart was content - then sat back and although ALL POWERFUL and could have changed or improved his creation... he just shrugged his shoulders because he gave man free will.... HMMM....pity so many babies die of starvation or at the hands of nutters before they are old enough to understand about free will and how much they are loved by their creator

Stacy Caruso There's very little to comprehend when it comes to the arguments and information put forward by Dinesh so I doubt anyone watching has had any issues in that regard. I struggle to see the pied piper reference too, I'm not shooting it down but it's seems a little strained in its application here. You seem to be under the impression the drinking was a problem? Certainly not for Hitch. He functioned to such a high level even when heavily intoxicated. There is often a positive correlation where genius and drugs are concerned - Also I'm sure Winston Churchill once noted that people like a leader who can handle his drink... Hitch was certainly leading the fight against the idiocy of religion.

@Steve I actually thought D'Souza came up with some (at first glance) pretty good points, but that were ultimately specious and easily refuted. After all, there aren't really any new arguments for the existence of the supernatural and all of them have already been falsified, which is why believers still have to fall back on blind faith as their "reason" to believe.

To losers like you, yeah.

Generally true. I like the stronger rational arguments of Dillahunty and Harris (who focus on whether we actually have a sound justification for belief), but I think there's value in atheists presenting a variety of arguments. Hitchens' strongest argument to me was the moral grounds for opposing certain characters regardless of whether they exist: If a god is said to have drowned everyone without warning over a disagreement, we should oppose that as blatant tyranny, and Hitchens did. His weaker arguments relied on ridicule, but I think those arguments are perhaps even more convincing to theists than the purely rational ones. (Which is a bit sad, really, as I'd love if theists listened and were convinced by rational arguments, but I suppose if they were _there wouldn't be any more theists_ and we wouldn't even be talking about this.)

I don't think he's heard of anything that disproves his fantasies. If he has, his addled mind just phase it out like so much white noise. Seriously, he even argued that "if we were around more than 3000 years ago, how come we acomplished nothing?" We accomplished plenty, in fact. And we even recorded it as best we could. In my own land alone there are drawings on cave-walls and on the bleak faces of smooth sections of stones and the very earth we walk, telling of great hunters and their prey, their societies, their beliefs and much more. Oh sorry Dinesh, you wanted a 6K year old library full of English texted scrolls or something that explains everything? Yeah kind of sucks we did not have that 6K years ago, then we would be out in space now, bitching about punks in rag-tag ships writing graffiti on asteroids to show how cool they are. Kids man, what can you do, eh? Bit more serious though, his position is absurd. But then again, he's trying to defend something there is no proof of. We may not be able to disprove that Jesus was real, but he, like any Christian has no evidence for the supposed existence of God. His standard-fare Christian arguments that morality comes from God - in other words that *it is enforced upon pain of eternal torture* - is bullshit too. Any and all Atheisst who are not debased immoral pricks prove this every single day.

Now, in his first 13 years he preached his message and made a little cult-following of 150 people, preaching peacefully, I remind you. 150 people in 13 years is not much at all, I'm sure you will agree. So he re-wrote the Quran entirely. The concept of Jihad, of fighting the unbeliever and so on an so forth did not exist in the first Quran. Not mentioned by a single word. After that for the last decade of Mohammed's life it was violent conversion by the sword using his little army of 150 followers as his basis. When he finally died 10 years later? Over 100,000 followers, all converts to his "faith" upon pain of death. *THAT* is how Islam started. A failed cult that grew into an ideology for conquest and totalitarian rule. Conversion at sword-point was bread and butter for Islam for over 1400 years and still happens today in some areas of the world if some reports are to be believed. In time ofc enough people were born into the faith that you got a steady following, and more and more people started converting peacefully as Islam became more and more established by claiming dominion over the conquered lands of the Jews, Christians and others that they invaded and assimilated. There is also the Dimmie status to consider, the 3rd grade citizens, (Women are the 2nd grade) a notch over the slaves, these Dimmies were reminded on a daily basis in a variety of ways that they were inferior and most eventually convert to Islam to be spared the sub-human humiliation and mistreatment they would get. To claim that Islam don't preach conversion at sword-point is about as ignorant a claim as you can make, and it just goes to show how far down Dinish is willing to slip to hope to prove a point.

And lets not forget the many people even to this day not touched by successful cultures/societies for whom something other than a sharp stick would be a technological marvel. He makes the assumption that if a 30 year old wooden shack in the woods suddenly burns down from a lightning strike, then that means the wood was never flammable until just seconds before the lightning hit... Lightning strikes such as bronze, crops for agriculture (leading to the end of hunter/gather societies solely focused on day to day living) or domesticated beasts of burden.

To be able to carry out such cognitive dissonance is truly a talent. Truly.

I think I live in a much happier life knowing I'm not constantly "judged" by my actions, that results in eternal guilt, and thinking when bad things happen is a punishment from God. The Bible is more than just about Jesus. It's a book about Fear, Guilt, and Death. It's by far the most labyrinth fundaments of historical tall-tales, poetic literature, psychedelic experiences one can perceive. Follow that? I 'rather follow the guidelines to "The Wizard of Oz".

osiris Blanche, Which "belief" is more rational and logical??? Two people, one Christian the other Atheist, are walking through an apple orchard coming upon 300 apples "perfectly" in a row and "evenly" spaced apart. The atheist concludes "nice accident" and continues walking. Obviously, not thinking anything more about it - as that is how he/she is brainwashed by "secular" society and his/her education to believe. On the other hand, the Christian sees the exact same 300 apples "perfectly" in a row and "evenly" spaced apart, and concludes "WHO IN THE WORLD DID THAT?" Which has a more rational and logical conclusion??? Logically, every building has a "builder" you cannot "see". Behind "order" is an "orderer". Behind an intelligent "design" is a intelligent "designer". Behind something that is "moving" there is a "mover" - that caused it to move. Now, let’s raise the "accident" odds. For me to write this post I have 3 Billion DNA "perfectly" in a row and "evenly" spaced apart and for you to read this post you have 3 Billion DNA "perfectly" in a row and "evenly" spaced apart, so over 6 Billion DNA working. Now, is that just a random "chance" and "accident" to have 6 Billion DNA in a "row" to carry on this conversation??? Is that really a logical and rational conclusion??? Please get to KNOW the supreme "orderer" of this universe, and what He expects out of your life to find "TRUE LIFE" ITSELF. Now, I recommend you watch former atheist Lee Strobel's "Case for the Creator", then read Josh McDowell's "Evidence Demands a Verdict". Follow the "Evidence", facts and "TRUTH" right into the ONE and ONLY established Church of Jesus Christ being the ONE HOLY CATHOLIC AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH. May GOD open your eyes and heart guiding you to TRUTH HIMSELF Jesus Christ (John 14:6).

@@onetruefaith2091 its not that simple. There doesn't need to be a "designer" for there to be life. There is overwhelming evidence that life has evolved. If a human species can start from a speck, then it is possible for a speck to start from something less, eventually going to the beginning which could very well be a "big bang." In this universe. Your logic used here doesn't really work. Our bodies are not perfect, nor are our brains. You imply "our bodies were made functional so logically someone made it to function". That shouldn't be the assumption. Life simply adapts and evolves and the dominant genes throughout our species lead to our current forms. Nice try though.

I simply respect myself and other human beings enough to not want to take advantage of others. Not out of fear of punishment by a higher being, but because it's simply a wrong thing to do. ....and the people, who "put the straight jackets on psychopaths" are scientists and doctors, not the church, who has plenty of those characters in charge of their covenants and churches, otherwise why would they rape children? 🙄🤦‍♀️
