old Bach Chicago C Strad, 1955 or so vintage w/Malone leadpipe replacement. Chris sounds fantastic on anything he plays, however I prefer his glorious tone on this Bach to the Yamaha Chicago's

i agree about the Bach sound! however I think the leadpipe was a prototype Yamaha Chicago leadpipe at the time this was recorded. he shortly after switched to Yamaha.

@@meh1366 I understand that Chris plays both, depends...

found the fellow trumpet player, lol. Alison Balsom has a Bach/ Malone C, as well. I had the privilege to play one the Bach/Malones. One of my good friends had one. Out of all the horns I've played, that's one that stands out. And, Chris Martin just makes it sing in this recording.

This guy sucks. Not only does he somehow play music without and evocation, but he also cracked a note here. For the life of me I can't figure out why so many people think this guy can play.

Well who do you like to listen to?

@@camdini3650 There are lots of great players out there. For classical a lot of the best seem to be Germans and other Euros. There are a lot of good young trumpeters in America now like Caleb Hudson or Brandon Ridenor. Wynton Marsalis is another fav of mine. Phil Smith another. This guy tho he's missing something. I hear the absence of it every time I check out one of his videos. He is putting all his energy into being technically perfect and it's missing the point of music. That's just my personal view. The consensus is probably that he's awesome. He's on tv. His resume is obviously incredible. In spite of all that what I hear coming out of his instrument is borderline worthless as far as solo playing. He never captures the essence of anything I've ever heard him play.

I think there’s a bit of “pressure” on Chris Martin’s shoulders-playing live television with John Williams conducting, you don’t wanna miss a note in front of 68 million folks listening. I would love to hear, If you can do one better with the same circumstances.

And I would bet my right hand that Chris could play this a 100 times in a row without splitting one note.

@@Will_Moffett you can’t discredit the wonderful tone, broad sound, clear articulations, and previous accomplishments because he cracked one note on a live performance.
