Of all principal trumpeters today, Chris has one of best tones I've ever heard. Strong, stable, not too much vibrato, doesn't sound forced or strained, beautiful.

For those who don't know, Chris Martin was the soloist on the original soundtrack, which was performed by the Chicago Symphony.

What I like best about this is it isn't a strictly technical solo where the artist has to tie his tongue in knots for 7 minutes to prove a point. This is an awesome melody expressed purely and honestly from great musicians. I also think that John Williams, being an extremely intelligent man, knew when he wrote this music that it would stand historically, as Lincoln the man has.

It is easy to see why Chris Martin is the only Trumpeter in history to hold the Principal Trumpet Position in both the Chicago Symphony and the New York Philharmonic! Bravo Chris! Your sound is incredible! 🎺👍

OMG SUCH A BEAUTIFUL TONE , CHRIS MARTIN THE BEST RIGHT NOW

Chris has become my new titan of the trumpet. I always loved Tim Morrison and his syrupy tone. Chris plays this Williams composition impeccably. John Williams has written some melodies that only the trumpet can express correctly. Like John who commented below, this is pure butter.

I would hope so considering when he recorded this he was principal trumpet of the New York Orchestra
@betaomega043 жыл бұрын
@@classicalytrumpet9190 Actually, he was the Principal Trumpet of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra when this was recorded. And the group you're referring to is the New York Philharmonic.
@classicalytrumpet91903 жыл бұрын
@@betaomega04 you still get my point that hes already been places.

Does the third bassoon have a built in extension? I've never seen that extra joint Beautiful
@DrooBazooka7 жыл бұрын
Not an extension - it's a 'gentleman's model' or 'gentleman's system'. Traditionally, the 2 parts of the german bassoon in the bass portion of the instrument are different lengths; the longer 'bass' joint (or 'long' joint), and the shorter 'bell'. In the gentleman's model/system, the bell joint is cut longer than normal and the bass joint is cut shorter than normal, resulting in the two joints being more equal in length. Because of this, the bassoon can also fit in a smaller, more square-shaped case, similar to a gentleman's briefcase. The overall length of the instrument does not change in this instance. There are bassoons that have a 'low A' bell extension; either in addition to the normal bell, or replacing it with a bell that has two key pads on it (Bb, and A). However, this video doesn't feature this longer bell.

Why with c trumpet (i thin) ??? This concert will have a "The must" in Bb Flat color. Bessie of that like !!!
@usmpiano7 жыл бұрын
It's what Williams wrote it for. It's a slightly lighter color. I think it's a better fit here personally.
@blanklastname76287 жыл бұрын
There is nothing at all wrong with Chris Martin's tone color. Notably, nearly all orchestral players in the US will pick a C trumpet for just about everything they can.
@starwf077 жыл бұрын
I think Chris Martin can use whatever key trumpet he wants, and there are maybe a dozen people in the world with the résumé to question him... and even they wouldn't, because they realize that it's a personal choice.
@brianbaumgarn57957 жыл бұрын
There is also a version on KZfaq where he plays it on an E-flat, too. Bottom line, is it a beautiful piece or not? The answer is obviously, Yes.!
@Funkadelic35 жыл бұрын
Playing this on a Bb trumpet would be a little more risky. Probably lays better on a C or Eb trumpet and is a little less risky to execute. It's honestly rare for most "legit" players to play on Bb trumpets in america unless it's for a pops concert or the piece is specifically written for Bb horn.
